1840891 tn?1431547793 I mentioned topical Ibuprofen so perhaps you could start out reading about the disposition of (oral) ibuprofen in patients with liver cirrhosis. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8403739 and ask your Hepa the extent this would happen (if at all) topically. ____________ I appreciate how limited the choice of meds that must be available to a cirrhotic however I am wondering if moderate use of the topical is completely out of question.
Avatar n tn the treatment for it is a low level anti biotic over several months( 3-6 ), you can talk to a pharmacist on OTC meds but your better off with a prescription.
Avatar m tn Sorry about your injury. Using ibuprofen gel or topical NSaids does not necessarily have to be covered. You can ask your doctor about that or the pharmacist where you frequent. A few points, remember to not mix with other nsaids, avoid touching your eyes, mouth or open wound, WASH YOUR HANDS after application, use only the amount the doctor has prescribed for you, don't shower or swim or wash the area for at least an hour after putting it on, and try to keep the area cool.
Avatar n tn Many arthritis sufferers are in a panic over the shortage of Voltaren gel (diclofenac sodium gel) and I get why they are worried. Voltaren gel is a prescription topical anti-inflammatory gel used for all kinds of arthritis pain: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and osteoarthritis of the knees, hands and hips. People who have stomach issues from taking anti-inflammatories by mouth can bypass that problem with Voltaren gel.
Avatar f tn I had surgery 3 months ago to remove a vagal schwannoma and some enlarged lymph nodes from in the left side of my neck. For the first two months I was completely numb from my earlobe to the bottom of my neck on the right side of the incision. This past month I've had some odd sensations, like itching but when I go to scratch I can't feel it and some tingling on and off. But the worst is the stabbing pain that comes and goes. My doctor says this means it's healing...
314554 tn?1337454119 m guessing you know that people who have neuromas will take any shortcut to alleviate the pain,,,So I use SNAP-8 solution (topical, inhibits SNARE complex etc..) + an Ibuprofen 5% topical gel which *completly* numbs the neuroma area otherwise 1/2 way into workout the neuroma area hurts. (1) I figure this is dangerous and counterproductive in the longrun, but how much? Athletic footware measures @ 8 1/2 but hurts 1/2 way in workout.
Avatar f tn Apply an ice pack or ice wrapped in a washcloth to the bite area. Use calamine lotion or a topical anesthetic containing pramoxine to help relieve pain and itching. You can take an anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or naproxen to reduce any accompanying swelling or redness. A 1-percent hydrocortisone cream can be applied to alleviate the itching. Aloe vera gel when applied on the bitten areas also forms a protective layer to reduce possible infection.
397118 tn?1219762250 I am looking for anything too because I would like to take zero Norco. Sometimes I used a topical gel called Biofreeze - I got it from the chiropracter. Massages really help but are expensive! Hope that helps a bit....

Avatar m tn Hello, From the symptoms it does not look like a jaw pain due to an allergic reaction to this topical treatment. It looks like temporomandibular joint pain to me. TMJ pain disorders usually occur because of unbalanced activity, spasm, or overuse of the jaw muscles. Diagnosed by x-rays or CT of the joint. Treatment involves warm compresses and anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen or diclofenac. If the symptoms persist then please get an examination done from an ENT specialist/dentist.

For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.

1110049 tn?1409402144 You could try using commercially available NSAID/ anaesthetic ointments such as those containing ibuprofen/ lidocaine for pain relief. The topical ointments are devoid of most systemic side effects of the medications. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar m tn The skin on my cheeks seems to be dry right now because of the topical stuff from my dermatologist (retin-a micro gel, used in the morning and left on till night, and benzaclin gel used at night and left on till morning) but normally it feels pretty smooth and kind of soft but also kind of dry. My forehead feels scaly-ish which is probably because of all the imperfections on it but in the summer it is pretty oily and right now in the winter is feels dry and scaly. My jawline is pretty average.
