topamax vision problems

also after you took the topamax did you get kinda tired

I had been taking Topamax for migrane prevention but it was causing significant memory and thinking problems. I tappered off the Topamax over about 1 1/2 - two weeks. I am now wondering getting off Topamx caused me to have 2 siezures. What do you think?

Consult the physician first, especially if your vision problems began after you started taking Topamax.

About 1.5 yrs now I have been on Topamax. Also around that time, my thyroid started acting up. I started losing my hair, cold hands and feet, feeling very tired, bad memory etc.. Now my symptoms have escalated. My memory is to the point where I can’t even remember simple words. I am depressed all the time and can’t get out of bed during the day. Then I can’t sleep at night. I'm having a hard time separating the side affects from the Topamax and the thyroid, which got me thinking.

Trust me it is not the Topamax that is the cause of your vision. I have been to a opthamoligist and that was my first confirmation. And i went to my neroligist he also said Topamax was not the cause of my eye sight problems. In fact i have a cateract in my left eye.I also stopped the Topamax for a little while. But i will go back to it in a couple months.It did help with the migranes. And i have been takeing it for Eight years with no problems. Good luck.

and i have bad peripheral vision .. my doctor prescribed topamax.. i am wondering how long it would take too notice the affects???

I recently been having problems with my eyes. In my peripheral vision I will get an intermittent effect. It occurs mostly in the right eye. It is hard to describe but I will try. It reminds me of a dark colored, lava lamp effect. It will flow in my peripheral for a while and then be gone. I also notice I recently had a decrease in vision in both eyes. I also went to an opthamologist last year. He said that my pupil had a "sluggish" reaction to light.

I have had normal MRIs for 7 years and two abnormal vision evoked potentials tests. I have numbness and tingling in the lower extremities and spasticity in the lower extremities. I have suffered with various pain about the body due to this and other osteoarthritic problems that are "normal" for my age. I should mention that I am Bipolar and I take several meds to help control it.....they include: Abilify, Zoloft, Klonopin & Topamax.....I noticed something new.....my right heel tingles & then goes numb......it only lasts for about 4 or 5 minutes then it's gone like it never even happened. I do experience tingling toes from the Topamax but I have never had my heel tingle then go numb! I have been on Topamax for over 1 1/2 years now.....

Has anyone had any interactions/reactions with the drug Topamax when prescribed for BPII & OCD. My understanding from the drug handout is that it is normally prescribed for migraines, seizures and weight loss. My doc has just increased my dosage to 100mg 3x per day. I have experienced some deterioration in my eyesight however I'm not sure if that's attributed to age (hadn't had my eyes examined in 2 years) or the Topamax which I've been on a lower doze for 6 weeks.

t try Topamax before but what I know is numbness and tingling are some of Topamax side effects. It become less with time. Are numbness and tingling really bad? or u can handle it? So he started me on Topamax for the headaches, it has been miserable with the side effects and I'm not taking anything to help the blurred vision. Weeks went by with no symptoms, then another episode of weakness and balance problems, accompanied by vision and memory problems. Lasted approximately a month then gradually went away over a couple of days. Fine again for a month or so, then another "flair" of crappy health with memory, vision, balance and tingling issues.

I am on Imitrex now for the occasional migraines, and I was on Topamax, but I stopped taking it due to some financial troubles. Anyways, I have experienced over the past few months some balance problems. Now, this is not dizziness, my vision doesn't swim or anything.

Are you allergic to all pain meds? If your face is numb and you're having vision problems, then I would encourage you to go see your Doctor immediatly. If the office is closed, you should go to the ER and see if they can contact your doctor for you, or at least diagnose you and get you on something.

t have the headache pain, but I still have the tightness in my temples, problems getting a deep breath and the vision problems have stayed with me since the initial onset of the migriane headache, 4 weeks ago. My eyes are like I am looking through a snowy TV screen, and whatever I look at, bright lights being the worse, are "burned" on my retina and it stays there no matter what I look at. I have seen 3 neurologist who say, just rest and things will normalize, but it hasn't.

t sound too terribly bad IF the visual acuity and visual field and pupil reactions are normal. Most bad problems cause real loss of vision. The color deficit is curious but among her many other problems I would just keep a watch on it and keep in contact with pediatric ophthalmologist. Look at package insert for topamax - can rarely cause severe attacks of glaucoma. Nothing to do with this case, but Just FYI.

Has any of your symtoms started after to Topamax? and if so have the doctors run a Topamax level. Another issue is sometime there are problems with the name brand and the generic.
