i have read that it lowers the effectiveness but i have also read that it doesnt happen until you reach doses of 200mg or more. i have also heard that by increasing your birth control dose you can help the effectiveness and my doctor specifically prescribed lutera because it has a higher dosage than most BC. can anyone give me some more info because every where i go i seem to be getting different information, even from doctors.

Welbutrin has worked for me for years, but about 8 days after starting Topamax for migraine control, the depression is kicking my butt. Could the Topamax be responsible? I would rather have migraines than be depressed!

s come off of birth control since we both read that sexual dysfunction can be caused from being on birth control. We had a very healthy sexual lifestyle for the first several years. We've also switched to a natural type condom (to help with her pain), but that doesn't help much. I can't seem to understand why my girlfriend is having an interaction with her medication and the natural herb Maca Root and Hot flash herbal vitamins. She is waking up and hard to breathe, her left side of her body is tight and tingling. (Not in a good way), believe me I asked! She takes Topamax for her Chiari, she takes Amitriptaline for IBS, which is also for anti depressant. I also ordered this female libido which is all natural, but contains Maca Root.

I take the synthyroid (complete thyroidectomy Dec 2008) and coumadin (DVT) at the same time and then 1 1/2 hrs later, I take topamax (migraine) and protonix (GERD). Is this enough time between each?

Up until about a week ago I was on Hydrocortizone, Levoxyl, Humatrope, Enpresse (a Birth Control), and Topamax. Now last week I saw a new neuro for some seizure medicine complications and he is going to wean me off the Topamax and slowly put me on Lamictal, which I have begun, I am only on 25mg right now. I see my specialist in 2 weeks but am hopeful that the headaches will be under control by then. If not, maybe we will increase the topamax again or add another drug. I don't really have any side effects of the topamax (except for the hands and feet tingling)-I take the brand topamax- I had a bad reaction to the generic. t know about topomax but I know that tegretol can stop the birth control pill from working properly - it should tell you in the leaflet that comes with the med. I have stopped my tegretol because of pregnancy symptoms and since stopping all the symptoms have gone (and a negative result thank goodness), yes i'm having migraines but they should pass. I shall be discussing all of this with my psych and I suggest you do the same.

m not sure about that possible interaction in particular, but I do know that the hormones in many types of birth control can interact with certain psychiatric medications. It would be a good idea to ask the prescribing doctors of each medication and the pharmacist. In my experience, not all doctors are aware of the interactions between psychiatric medications and birth control.

I was wondering if taking 100mg of Tramadol at night along with 60 mg Cymbalta and 50 mg of Topamax could cause Serotonin Syndrome? I have recently had several of the symptoms but I was treated for Post Traumatic Stress. The more I think about it, it sounds like SS.

Hi...well I can say that TOPAMAX helps greatly in changing the type of HA u get and once in a blue moon when needed Ibuprofen does help.....I know u do not want meds, I didn't either but I have not had my TOPAMAX since b4 Christmas and I am going nutz as I had HA's all under control.... U may want to see what may be causing ur HA's...for me I know it is my EDS and instability and TCS.....once u know it may be easier to know how to deal with it...

My doctor prescribed me topamax today. I am already on amitriptylline 30mgs at bedtime for "migraines". I think my headaches are related to the chiari as dr shelat reproduced the pain when he put pressure on my head in a certain way. My current md said there is interaction between amitriptylline and topamax and also compazine which i take as needed.

And since Agnus Castus has an effect on hormones, my guess is that there would be some interaction between it and antibiotics. At best, it would just be canceled out like birth control. But the interaction could be bad as well. I would suggest to stop taking the Agnus Castus while taking the antibiotics. I highly doubt that your Dr. would know the interaction, but it's always worth a try!

s Thyroiditis and take Levothyroxin, Topomax for migraines and birth control for irregular menses. I do not take any supplements because of the palpitations from the levo. This really scares me because I do not know of anything that could cause sudden pain for no reason.

Hi there, I am wondering if can birth control can affect a calcified meningioma? My neurologist didn't mention that mine would, but she did seem pretty sure that even though my meningioma is calcified that it is still going to grow at some point. There are 2 reasons an antibiotic would affect birth control. 1. The medications interact with each other (the antibiotic decreases hormone levels in the body) and 2. The antibiotic kills bacteria in the GI track that are involved with the body's recycling of estrogen - which could "theoretically" have an effect on birth control effectiveness. t know if it helps but I have never been able to take ANY type of birth control pills because they cause migraines. I would have a daily headache while I was on them, then a big ole migraine. I would also have more migraines after I started my period. As I got closer to 40, they were out of control. You may just not be able to take the pill.

I'm confused here. You had unprotected sex while on a pretty powerful medication that can affect birth control... but you didn't say what type of birth control you are on. Could you specify what type of BC you are on?
