Avatar m tn hello, anyone on topamax? I've been on it for about five weeks and its been great for my migraines but I've been having a lot of side effects! like tingling in my hand and feet and really bad heart burn every day! also get moody and cry. very bad fatigue too. will any of this go away???
1276940 tn?1564515084 t try Topamax before but what I know is numbness and tingling are some of Topamax side effects. It become less with time. Are numbness and tingling really bad? or u can handle it? Do you have any other side effects? How long to use it? Is Topamax useful as mood stabilizer and good for weight loss according to your experience?
1041303 tn?1421387341 ve been on Topamax building up to 100mg per day for the past 4 weeks now and the tingling and the word finding difficulty side effects are not that different to what I was experiencing before with the migraines/headaches I was getting every day. Diet coke tastes ugh, which I am quite sad about and I have to remind myself to eat which again is not a bad thing. The days where my head is clear ( so far about 2 days out of every 7 ) I feel such a sense of relief.
Avatar n tn Brain fog, chatty kathy, spacey and just plain stupid, no appetite, tingling, and insomnia. I went from 50 to 75mg, 5 weeks later and 75 to 100mg 4 weeks later, working up slowly does help with the side effects. Over time I have found most of my side effects subside: I take it for nerve pain and complex migraines. Certain side effects have stayed: anything carbonated taste awful, tingling in hands and feet, small twitch in left eye for last week or so.
Avatar n tn I've been on Topamax for over a year now and it did that to me at first too, the numbness or tingling, mostly in my toes, I started out at 50mg. and now have been on 75mg, for 6 mos. I will say for me, those side effects have gone away and personally the good out ways the bad, you see, I had a mild stroke from the migraine I had, I have hemiplegic migraines and to me it is worth a little discomfort rather than go through that again!
Avatar f tn I was building the topamax up and lowering the lamictal down. Now I am just on the topamax. The side affects seem quite scary to me, severe dizziness and very off balance, I am always tired and have tingling in the hands and feet. I seem loss for words and confused. Will these side affects deteriorate over the a certain amount of time? It is difficult when I have to go to work and live everyday life. Please help.
Avatar n tn Please google Topamax side effects or Topamax reviews and you will see many people with a lot of the same symptoms as you. Good luck to you and God Bless.
214901 tn?1227567555 Am off now but when first taking Topamax (2 yrs+@75mg) for migraine I felt terrible. Dizzy, headachy, "car sick"..sort of like the flu. It slowly went away after a few weeks. It takes a while to get used to it and to find a dosage that you can tolerate and that does help. Oh yea, I used to get "prickly" feet..some call it tingling but it was a bit more painful. Sounds wierd but eating a banana (potasium) would make it stop. I started eating one each day..
681148 tn?1437661591 I've never tried Topamax and I was wondering what other peoples' experiences have been like, if they have tried it and all. I just read some information on the FMS forum that not only is it helpful for migraines, but they're finding that it helps with FMS, too. I'm more interested in the migraine help with it myself. I have an appointment with the neurologist coming up soon, so I would like to know what others think about Topamax and if it works.
Avatar m tn The reason I ask all the questions is I am curious about the usage. I have GAD and panic attacks but also tonic clonic seizures and mirages which is what it's intended for, however I have seen more and more neurologist using it to treat GAD and other panic type disorders.
Avatar f tn I know all the usual suspects and Topamax jokes (dopamax, tingling, word recall, etc) that you read on the brochure or hear about, but I wanted some personal feedback as far as how long the effects last and if they diminish. So far I haven't really had word recall issues and I've had some tingling but read that meant I needed to up my water intake and once I did that, the paresthesia (tingles) went away immediately. What I do feel is TIRED....
Avatar n tn m currently on Lamictal but considering changing to Topamax since this drug (topamax) more effectively treats partial seizures and migraines. What is your experience with it?
Avatar f tn I have MS and I am on Topamax. As soon as I started Topamax, (before my diagnosis) I constantly had tingling hands and feet. It is an annoying side effect of the medication, but my migraines are so bad that I figure I'll take tingling hands and feet over debilitating head pain. The medication also effects the taste of things for me, especially carbonated drinks. I am addicted to Coca-Cola and it made it taste sort of like metal. It's pretty awful. I also get EXTREMELY thirsty on it.
Avatar m tn I have dizzy spells, too, along with other type of seizure and Topamax helps me a lot. I also have problems with strobe lights during an EEG, even on Topamax :( Nothing else helps the dizzy spells. Get a copy of that EEG and go to another doctor for evaluation. I mean, you can't really hide a seizure...if you had a seizure it'll show up on the EEG. It's a good idea to let another doctor look at the EEG and see what he thinks. Avoid strobe light-like things.
1781720 tn?1314842836 Usual side effects of topamax may include fatigue, impaired concentration, dizziness, and paresthesias (tingling, numbness, pins and needles sensation). Kidney stones, as mentioned by Eddie and sometimes weight loss are often observed with continued treatment. Dosage reduction is often done by your doctor to help with these side effects. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I had an MRI ok, but a EEG came back with abnormal brain waves. I have to do a 24 hour study now. Last night i had major weakness and tingling in my face and pains on the top of my head. What could be wrong? I am freaking out right now!
Avatar f tn I definitely lost weight and I am little to begin with. Recently I went off of Topamax and have gained weight back for sure :( So the weight loss is one of the better side effects LOL. The biggest side effect for me was the hands and feet (and sometimes lips) tingling. Not all the time but especially in the beginning. Numbness too. They weren't bothersome enough for me to stop taking it, though. I hope it works for you.
Avatar n tn I continue to have symptoms off and on that consist of mild numbness and tingling, headaches and dizziness. I have severe anxiety and it's entirely possible my numbness/tingling are due to this but I worry I have MS. Does anyone know if you have ever had an MRI and it was clear, if that means you definitely will never have lesions that show MS?
Avatar n tn Then it abated and I was fine for a couple of months, until I started experiencing the tingling again, this time accompanied by numbness and weakness in my arms and legs. I had trouble walking and using my hands and my balance was off. This lasted for a few weeks and my primary had my nuerologist do a spinal which came back clear. When that episode subsided, I had another MRI, this time of my spinal column, which did not show any lesions.
Avatar n tn I also suffer from migraines as well as near migraine strength daily headaches, lightheadedness and occasionally have tingling/numbness in my hands and feet along with the migraines. I also have photophobia and sensitivity to sound at all times. I took reglan for gastroperisis from 2004 or 2005 until February 2010 and am not sure if this may have led to the eye spasms or if the ever increasing frequency and intensity of the headaches and migraines is to blame.
587787 tn?1218804459 Hi, There is a good possibility that your neck problem is responsible for at least a part of your headache and tingling in arm and legs. It is possible that there is some degree of nerve compression due to bulging disc and narrowing of the disc space which is causing tingling sensation. What other medications are you on apart from Topamax? I would suggest you to do some neck exercises daily and apply heat and ice therapy to the affected part.
Avatar f tn t know how anyone could reliably determine if she is having a reaction to the mix of those or not, but my question is who determined that she needed the Topamax, Amtriptyline and now Maca Root and hot flash herbal vitamins? Also, it wasn't clear. Is she taking all those other supplements? If so, why would you think she needs all those? Personally I'd be very leery of taking what you ordered. Last for now, why did you post on a Thyroid Forum?
Avatar f tn I'm a 34 y/o female who suffered multiple seizures after giving birth to my daughter in 2005. (I was not diagnosed with pre-eclampsia), but after after giving birth, I suffered numerous head jerking, tongue biting, loss of conciousness seizures, and was diagnosed with Eclampsia. After that, after the MRIs, CAT scans, and everything else, they said I had a mini-stroke and Leukoencepholopathy (possibly reversible). I was put on Dilantin.
Avatar n tn m also having some other concerning problems worsening headaches, neck pain and back pain and dizziness and nausea. Are any of these symptoms going to go away or has anyone else experienced these not as common problems? Please help. Thank you.
410475 tn?1262942367 For a while when I first started taking the topamax I was really worn and out and felt weird all of the time, but I've been on it since the end of Aug '08 and that doesn't happen anymore. I do get drowsy when I take it, but I just take it before bed now. I don't know about the diarrhea thing though. Were you eating with them? Or were you allergic?
