No one ever told me the side effects and I called the doctor every week for the six weeks she was on this medicine and every time all she said was she needs to build her tolerance.

I am only 17, i went to the neurologist and he suggested topamax, i have not had a single headache since! Topamax is wonderful and has no side effects that could effect younger people such as myself or your daughter. I would highly reccomend asking your doctor about starting this medication asap!!!

hi teddybear106, I was out of it once by accident and I know what your going through sorry. they will eventually stop, you will just have to ride it out shouldn't take that long though. I currently take gabapenten and topamax, and missing topamax is worse I think than withdrawl from the gabapenten. but hang in there it will stop soon, I think it runs about 4 to 6 weeks...

The DR put him on keppra (in which had too many side effects), then Topamax and valium, in which he stayed on for 2 1/2 months. I am glad you are at least getting the support of a Celebrate Recovery group, but am sorry you are not able to get "formal therapy" right now. It's really great though that you are taking the initiative to go to that group though. That's a big step in itself that you are doing it for yourself you know? Do you have insurance by chance? I know that's a bit of a personal question but insurance does usually help with therapy and such.

Is it in a red capsule? What we use to call reds a long time ago? Because if that is what i think it is it affects differently. I'll tell ya about my experience with them. It was not good.

I am on topamax now and some side effects are hard to deal with. my dr is decreasing my dosage. my side effects are that my arms and legs are numb and tingling like pins and needles and I am very tired I have diahreea alot. you have to stay in contact with your doc while on the medication.

I have reduced quite all my medication and I feel like slowly back to being the person i used to be I am currently taking only 50mg of Topamax and I can say that the pain disappeared almost completely and the goal is to be free of this medicine at year end. Also I have feelings of anger, because I think I've been taking Topamax for over 10 years without any sense. I think I have found what was the source of all my chronic pain and Topamax was not helping me at all.

It is unlike normal or even PMS irritability. It comes on SO fast and I act before I can stop myself. I throw things, kick things, hit things. It is embarrassing and I am afraid of it happening in public. After the event, I can see how it was inappropriate and an over-reaction. I'm too old to behave like a 13 year old throwing a tantrum. I'm wondering why my bipolar disorder has evolved into this.

Irritability and grumpiness are side effects of the interferon. My husband had both. Forgetting or being irritable over irrational things could be a side effect, or it could be HE. Check with his Hepa.

Nope. Just a sign that you're pregnant. I get that way occasionally too and I'm currently overdue, which reeeaaallly helps w the irritability part. Lol.

Ok Mommys I have been extremely irritable and hormonal the last two days and I just don't feel good at all. No consistent contractions but I've heard increased irritability is sometimes a sign of labor coming soon. Anyone have experience with this?!?!

I've been taking Topamax for about 2.5 months and since then noticed some issues with my left eye. Within a month of being on Topamax my left eye seemed very dry, so I thought I was suffering from allergies (which I do have). I purchased some over the counter allergy eye drops, which caused my left eye to dilate, which scared me. Being cautious, I went to see a optician for a basic check up because I know about the possible Glaucoma complication with Topamax as well.

Has anyone ever responded to the original questions posted in 2010? I am curious. I have been taking 300 mg Wellbutrin and 200 mg Topamax since May 2016 and have lost approx 30lbs. I wasn't aware of the side affects and my doctor said as long as I feel fine there is no reason to run tests. I just want to make sure others are having this same significant weight loss.

Well I made it to Monday. Well, the Dr.'s might be switching me off Tegretol, I hope so. And what about Topamax? I'm on Topamax for my stupid migraines, and they just increased it by 25mg to a total of 100mg of Topamax/night. The Dr. thinks maybe thats whats causing the problems? I don't know, I have for some reason over the years learned to NOT trust doctors, I need to learn to trust them. Especially mine.

All of a sudden, I have experienced joint pain and stiffness. I found out that topamax can lead to these side effects. however, I have gradually gone off the topamax and have quit taking it for approximately 4 - 5 days. Today I am still stiff (shoulders, knee, wrist and ankles) and my ankles are swollen. Do you think this is still a side effect of Topamax in my system?

I just logged on here at 3 am to see if anyone else had these symptoms with this drug. my legs and arms are numb and like needles and pins, I have diahrrea and nausa every day and food dosen't tast good at all. I itch all over which is keeping me awake. I am going to stop taking it. can't call the doc till monday, but can't stand this either. good luck to you.

I often have tingling sensations in my feet. I have irritability more so than I used to and have bouts of the inability to make a decision. I can spend hours in the meat section at WalMart deciding what meat to buy. Simple as that... Can you please help me shed some light on this? ANY opinions from the medical profession would be greatly appreciated. The doctors where I am from are great docs, but they are more out to make a $$$ than care for and communicate with their patients.

I am new to topomax and have been takingit for 2 weeks. It was prescribed for headaches and so far its been great. Ive lost 2 lbs. already. It controls appetite etc and keeps you from getting headaches but the sideffects are terrible. I take it right before bed and wake up feeling ok although the first few days felt very droggy. My neurologist wants to take me off it and i am refusing.

s ? if not...tell them you have the flu and you feel really bad and irritable. that you are sorry for yelling......and you will talk to them in a couple of days...i felt really irritable off and on the whole time i tapered( 10days ) and still get that way at times...one minute i'm calm..and the next min. i'm yelling...it's hard becuz sometimes it feels like my emotions are raw and i just feel really jumpy...but it will get better!

I have started to become nervous and irritable again and it is scary. I was like that for two years straight and I really don't want to do it again. Hi everyone! I was just released from the hospital and I have Pseudo Tumor Cerebri and ICP. I am 33 year old female and never had a headache problem so this constant pain *****:( I know that Topamax won't treat a headache but helps to prevent... But I wanted to hear if anyone had any positive experiences with Topamax? Today is only my second day and I've only noticed mild dizziness. Any major side effect experiences? Thanks a bunch!!

hello, anyone on topamax? I've been on it for about five weeks and its been great for my migraines but I've been having a lot of side effects! like tingling in my hand and feet and really bad heart burn every day! also get moody and cry. very bad fatigue too. will any of this go away???

Hi....TOPAMAX is not the type of Drug to take and then stop and take again, as it takes 2 weeks to adjust to the med.....and during that time u will feel foggy and extremely tired if u r nething like me, u may have anxiety bcuz u have a fear of the med...I took it and the only issue I had was during the 2 week adjustment period,...and when I stopped them and I was taking them everyday for a few yrs I got headaches nothing else.....

I've been taking Topamax 50mg-100mg daily and I have been also taking Yasmin. The two were told to me to be ineffective when used together, so I've been using a back up method of condoms. I'm unhappy with this so my OBGYN switched me to Zovia, which I do not like. My question is, could YAz and Topamax at 50-100mg, be taken together?

Has anyone had any experience with Topomax for binging? Any other meds? I take celexa and only 10 mg and it's decreased my irritability but not my binging and purging. I take it for anxiety, but I still am so so anxious and more like very keyed up and tensed up in my muscles and even at night I find myself tenseing up when thinking about whether I will or won't feel like binging and purging tomorrow.
