Common Questions and Answers about Tooth problems with horses

Avatar n tn It can involve one or both eyes. The affected eye, is the right eye in your horses case. An eye with a strabismus will show excess sclera (white of the eye), and the pupil will appear to be slanted abnormally. A horse with this condition will have difficulty seeing out of the affected eye which will result in stumbling, bumping into things on the affected side, and increased nervousness (spooking easily).
Avatar n tn This does not have to do with tooth eruption. You have a severe behavior problem developing and it will only get worse if not corrected!! Behavior modification in horses is a specialty. You need a trainer that really knows how to handle this in a firm but not abusive way. Start asking around locally for someone good. Study the internet for "biting in horses" and get on this quickly.
Avatar n tn I agree its good to weigh your horses feed but a genaric feed calculater may not be a cure all for everyone. When my horses are not in high work they get a low protien high fiber diet.Lotsa different horses on alot of diferent feed routines. Roughage, roughfage!!!! If a horse needs alittle extra a high fat low protien grain is great. Adding alittle oil adds fat too. Rarely an older horse or injured horse will get weightbuilder suppliment to help out w/ weight.
Avatar n tn My three year old has an increasing obsession with horses. She can talk, play and make up stories with horses for 3 hours, non-stop. She is very verbal and many times she will ask me to take the horsey out of the magazine, tv screen or book. I explain this is not possible, and she starts crying. I do not know how to handle this. In preschool she almost never separates from horses and zebras, small animals she holds in her hands. She goes to two preschools.
11125296 tn?1421386502 I'm starting to get there too... With the Charlie horses if you feel one coming on try pulling your toes up (like towards your shins). It seems to work really good for me. As for the rest, I'm not sure what to tell ya. I can only get "comfortable" on my sides but my hips can't handle all the extra weight and hurt too bad for me to be able to sleep, so I feel your pain....
Avatar f tn Does anybody know why I get Charlie horses in my calf when I'm sleeping? Its only happened a few times but boy does it hurt!
Avatar f tn Thank you for writing. In my opiniion, eyes are nothing to mess with on one's own without the advice of a veterinarian. Your own vet would be the best as a a hands-on examination where he could pull the lid back if necessary, etc. Also, have you tried phoning your vet? Best of luck and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I have owned and rode horses all my life. I am having difficulty coping with not being able to ride because ppl told me I cant. Is it seriously that big a deal to ride? I don't want to hurt my baby, but it's literally the only thing I have done for myself and can't deal with giving it up for so long...
Avatar f tn im giving her extra food and she is rugged in field with hayage but it is still dropping off her.does any one have any adivse in what i could do.
Avatar m tn I went for a cleaning appt , when they did x-rays the tooth deteriated in the gumline and bone .An oral surgeon extracted the tooth and did a bone graph due to bone loss. I was never givien antibiotics. After a wk I still had swelling in my face and the site was oozing pus. It was the weekend I had antibiotics of my husbands (enough for 3 days)I was sure this was an infection.I made an appt w/the oral surgeon . My jaw felt dislocated I couldnt chew and could barely open my mouth.
Avatar f tn Babies take a lot of calcium from their mothers body so tooth problems can be common during pregnancy.
1793142 tn?1315379376 Does anyone else with autoimmune problems have severe tooth decay so bad teeth need to come out? My teeth have been having such severe decay that they need to come out. I take really good care of my teeth because I have had such problems but despite brushing, flossing, listerine daily, by the time of my next dental visit there is another tooth rotted.
Avatar n tn Dear Friend, I have written a short story which I send to everyone who is looking for help with basic dental problems. Several paragraphs concern the source of dental problems, the rest details natural remedies for relief. I have had a number of experiences, from basic cavities, fillings, to replacement of metal fillings with epoxy, root canals, infections, extractions, and now contemplating implants.
Avatar n tn During my treatment I got an abcess on my tooth and tried to have a surgery to save the tooth with no avail. Eventually I had to have the tooth pulled. My teeth have never been the same after treatment. I have sensitive teeth and more cavities. They look grey to me. I would never tell anyone else what to do about thier health. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had problems with thier teeth.
Avatar n tn Particularly as I have a wisdom tooth beginning to poke through behind it and the dentist said extraction of the problem tooth would also help to avoid any problems with the wisdom tooth later on. Anyway two days later, i began to feel a lot of pressure in my head. Like a sinus infection or when my TMJD is playing up, but slightly worse. My ears are completely blocked up and my whole head feels full and under pressure, like someone is pushing my head in.
Avatar f tn The pain and sensitivity increased so the tooth was eventually removed. I thought this would be the end of the problems. Things still have not settled and whilst there was some improvement the teeth either side of the extraction are now aching and ache for some time after eating or drinking. The extraction site still throbs but I expect that is nornal and will settle. The pain and throbbing goes round to my chin but it is only the teeth either side of the1st(?
Avatar f tn /. I tried some of the exercises online for TMJ or TJM whatever you call it lol and it helped a little but now my jaw feels kind of heavy.
Avatar f tn My dentist said they were fine and that root problems can show up later (but he saw no problems). I had the bite adjusted on my lower, and it is a little better than before...but I am worried. Does this sound like root problems, or an infection? Thanks for the help!
Avatar n tn Sorry to bother you again but i forgot to mention that i do have allergy and sinus problems would this have anyhing to do with white tongue coating? Also would like to know if it has anything to do with hiv? I have been browsing the forums and i see that some responses have to do with drinking alcohol or smoking. What about drinking beer? They also say it can come from garden variety cold or diet.
Avatar n tn If you were told that the existing filling is 50% of the tooth, and there is something wrong with that filling or there is decay, then in my opinion the tooth should be covered and protected, not weakened by placing another restoration IN" the tooth
