Avatar f tn The pain and sensitivity increased so the tooth was eventually removed. I thought this would be the end of the problems. Things still have not settled and whilst there was some improvement the teeth either side of the extraction are now aching and ache for some time after eating or drinking. The extraction site still throbs but I expect that is nornal and will settle. The pain and throbbing goes round to my chin but it is only the teeth either side of the1st(?
4922507 tn?1361076248 However since the extraction I am suffering from insomnia and just recently I have felt a pain increase. The pain isnt actually coming from the hole, nor is it an unbearable shooting pain, but a dull throbbing ache. A painful lump swelled up behind my ear and was painful and tender to touch, and my right lower jaw is very stiff, tender and also 'throbs'. The lump (which i believe from research is a lymph gland?
2080404 tn?1643113754 Ugh I can't seem to win. My tooth finally healed, gods it was so sore. Now another tooth feels infected. The gum is all inflamed and the tooth is cracked. Hurts like hell but I've been taking OTC pain medicine and keeping an eye on it. No swelling, thankfully. Just pain. Now my other tooth is hurting cuz I had to chew on that side earlier in the day. How am I supposed to eat anything if I have a tooth on either side acting up??
Avatar n tn I have extreme cold sensitivity in the root canaled tooth. Now the pain is an aching feeling through the whole back of my jaw. Plus I have a strange ache just under my earlobe on my neck (my glands?) I was thinking infection but the x-ray showed no sign of one. Can an x-ray always detect an infection? Now the Endo. wants to do an APICOECTOMY. My last appointment with them seemed like they just didn't know why so they'll just try this next.
Avatar m tn I went for a cleaning appt , when they did x-rays the tooth deteriated in the gumline and bone .An oral surgeon extracted the tooth and did a bone graph due to bone loss. I was never givien antibiotics. After a wk I still had swelling in my face and the site was oozing pus. It was the weekend I had antibiotics of my husbands (enough for 3 days)I was sure this was an infection.I made an appt w/the oral surgeon . My jaw felt dislocated I couldnt chew and could barely open my mouth.
Avatar f tn Thyroid problems can cause dry mouth, which in turn can damage teeth. I had a wisdom tooth break without any pain or force just due to my mouth being so dry from the years of flipping from hyper to hypo and back. (Lucky it was a wisdom tooth, I suppose!) Depression-definitely. You need adequate levels of T4 and T3 in your body, an upset of both or even just one can cause mood changes. However, sometimes depression can linger even when your thyroid symptoms are managed. Brain fog-HUGE one.
Avatar f tn Hi this could absolutely not be due to a crack in the tooth as suggested; a pulsating pain in a tooth could be due to inflammation in the tooth (pulpits) that has progressed to the ligament that holds the tooth. Crack in tooth tend to be painful for a longer period of time and continue to hurt on biting. By suggesting that it doesn’t hurt at the moment whatsoever means that the condition is gone into a chronic phase.
Avatar n tn Dentist found a crack in this tooth. Went to endodontist who did root canal in Feb., pain continued, endodontist went back into tooth deeper. Still had pain, was sent to another endontist, for second opinion, who could not be conclusive, but thought pain was coming from molar behind the tooth with root canal which has the crown seated temporarily. Endodontist did root canal on the second tooth, behind root canal done first.
Avatar f tn An abscessed tooth is a painful infection at the root of a tooth or between the gum and a tooth. It's most commonly caused by severe tooth decay. Other causes of tooth abscess are trauma to the tooth, such as when it is broken or chipped, and gingivitis or gum disease. These problems can cause openings in the tooth enamel, which allows bacteria to infect the center of the tooth (called the pulp). The infection may also spread from the root of the tooth to the bones supporting the tooth.
Avatar n tn I know that I never had these symptoms before that tooth was worked on, but at the same time the pain is in more places that just my tooth. Right now I'm thinking I don't care if it's pulled, but I'm now also worrying Amoxil isn't getting rid of this infection this time. I was wondering, do you think if I got my tooth pulled all this would go away? what else could this be, except for my tooth, and what exactly do you think is causing it from what I describe?
Avatar n tn I have never had any problems with my teeth and this is really bugging me. I had gotten a gold inlay for that tooth about eight years ago and haven't had any problems. Suddenly I started experiencing pain in that area after I had gotten a new porcelain onlay on the molar right next to it. I ended up having a root canal on the molar(14) with the gold inlay exactly a week ago. The root canal was finished the samed day. I have had throbbing pain off and on and can't eat on that side at all.
Avatar f tn Could this sinus infection ive had for about two weeks be affecting my jaw because it is really painful. I know my jaw is slightly unaligned because I need braces and my wisdom tooth out and I get that. Im just wondering why its hurting this bad with this virus I have. I cant chew foods or open my mouth slightly, its not extreme pain but its bareable, I feel it.
Avatar n tn Local anesthesia administration ONLY takes away the pain but you may still feel the procedure like lots of pressure/holding the tooth with the instrument or tooth movement while coming out. Everything but no pain. Give it 4-5 days for your body to recover from the procedure if the symptoms do not subside visit your dentist to get his opinion.
Avatar f tn Dear Dr Sharma, I have read your responses to questions from Mau881 and I am hoping you might find time to help me, also. After several years and numerous dental procedures, I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. I had MVD/retromastoid craniectomy surgery in June 2007 which left me with not only the same TN pain but many other new problems/symptoms. The surgeons performed a "re-do" surgery in Nov 2007.
Avatar n tn It aches on and off during the day and night (i live on ibuprofen to help dull the pain). The crowned tooth and now even the surrounding teeth are sensitive to hot/cold and bitter/sweet. Teeth around the crown have shifted and are our of alignment. If I rinse with salt water, it hurts. It is soooo sensitive. What could be wrong?
Avatar f tn The formaldehyde fumes can escape the porous structure of the tooth and irritate and/or destroy tissue, nerve, and bone. Problems can occur immediately after a root canal or even months or years later. Proponents have no science to back up their safety claims but, instead, use self-serving testimonials from dentists who use it without any input from the patient...'cause they never told the patient.
Avatar n tn You should not be in pain and the tooth should be looked at. I do not know how badly broken down the tooth is, but I would be concerned that you take the chance of fracturing the tooth and the possibility that it would have to be extracted. I am more concerned that you have no discomfort before you restore the tooth.
Avatar n tn About a week ago I started getting a toothache in my 2nd molar, upper right side. This particular tooth has had some problems (bad cavity, which was filled). Anyway, I went to the dentist and he said there was another cavity and he would fill it in a couple of weeks but there was a possibility it wouldn't work and the tooth would have to be extracted or i would need RCT.
6397765 tn?1380934651 It may be possible the pain isn't related to the tooth then. The pulse pain should have went away fairly quickly if it was due to a bad tooth. You should go back and get a follow up.
Avatar f tn Its possible that the tooth could be causing some discomfort for the sinus area. I would recommend seeing a dentist and seeing if the tooth needs further treatment or needs to be removed.
Avatar f tn It's been about 9 days since I've had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. In these past couple days I've developed some very strange symptoms. On only the left side of my face, I have a lot of sinus pain. Whenever I bend over or drink water, this putrid smelling, thin liquid out of my nose. When I lean back, in runs down the back of my throat.
