703031 tn?1398963307 She thinks either he has a blood infection from the tooth or a heart condition. Both his parents died before the age of 55 of heart attacks. DH has a long history of migraines. A recent visit to the neurologist for our daughter had the neurologist concerned about DH's history as well. Thoughts? I lean towards a heart problem and am worried. He would take pain killers for the jaw pain and find no relief.
Avatar n tn the extraction followed after 2 sessions of antibiotics unsuccessfully trying to save the tooth. so, now should i have my heart or anything else checked? This discussion is related to Re: Tooth abscess and heart valve damage.
Avatar f tn I’ve had a horrible taste coming from the tooth all day... is this the infection draining or is it the tooth pulp dying? Or both? My question here is it safe that I’m swallowing it? I assume it’s better than it being trapped but I’m still freaked out and now scared of sepcis. When will the antibiotics work? When should I go too the ER or call the dentist again? Am I being Overly dramatic and just need to let the antibiotics work and relax? Probably right?
Avatar m tn While a tooth infection (or infection of any kind) increases the risk for endocarditis -- this is primarily in those individuals who have structural heart or valvular disease, prosthetic heart valves and/or a history of previous infective endocarditis. Because of which, the ACC/AHA recommends antibiotic prophylaxis for those individuals (above) who are to undergo any invasive surgical or dental procedures.
Avatar f tn However, the most common source is a lung infection. Less often, a heart infection is to blame. Germs may also travel from a nearby infected area (for example, an ear infection or a tooth abscess) or enter the body during an injury (such as a gun or knife wound) or surgery. In children with heart disease or a birth defect, such as those with tetralogy of fallot, infections are more able to reach the brain from the intestines, teeth, or other body areas.
Avatar n tn Hi, I need some advise regarding my teeth. I had a root canal done on my tooth 19th maybe about 3 years ago. 2 years ago my gum swelled because of pus & infection therefore the dentist did another root canal to remove the infection. I found out last sep. that there's some infection underneath that same tooth again, but because of some complication with insurance i didn't do anything about it till now. This time there's no swelling or pain or any sort of discomfort.
Avatar m tn Just a few days ago I started to feel very bad due to a wisdom tooth infection...in thepast when my wisdom tooth would inflamate it would eventually go down, so I waited 3 days..Aftet the third day feeling horrible I went to the dentist and he gave me amoxiline and antifamatory medicine. The day after I took the wisdom tooth out and now I am recuperating. Question number 2: Will those 3 days when my tooth started to infect could cause any trouble iin my heart?
Avatar n tn A dental infection can be cause for problems such as swollen lymph nodes due to infection and possible heart infections on damaged or artificial heart valves. But if she's getting her teeth removed, the source of infection is removed and the swollen lymph nodes return to normal. The bacterial heart infection may need to still be treated after the teeth are removed. Your physician should be able to properly refer her to a cardiologist if there is an possible damage to her heart valve.
Avatar f tn so if the pus is comming from the face through the tooth..and thats not the cause of my infection all you dentist are confusing me..my face is still numb now...give me something i didnt do yet???and what damages it cause to the body...i tried to take some magnesium sulfate to do a #2 it almost paralized me...and no medication my dr refused a blood test..and they tried to treat the infection but it caused an allergic reaction to my tonsils...no dentist will touch me with this infection..
Avatar f tn The infection in my molar is not causing any localised pain but did last year when I took antibiotics for it which I thought had cleared it up, but recently I had a scan on the tooth and the infection is still there. I’m having the tooth taken out soon but I was just wondering if there could be any connection? My doctor has put the pressure down to sinus issues as I do get hay fever but I really don’t believe it could cause such strong facial/frontal pressure.
Avatar m tn i was in observation on a heart monitor and i got saline and antibiotics for the tooth infection. for 12 hours my heart rate was from 136-142 and it did not get lower. i want to know,is this dangerous? was my heart beating so fast and i almost fainted because of the tooth infection or was it something else? i have not been to a Dr. since 1996,so i do not know what my health is. can anyone tell me,was this incident normal?
Avatar m tn Hi, I got a bride fitted on my top left side, it is 4 teeth and fits on the tooth next to the top left wisdom tooth, obviously that tooth was ground and made smaller for the bridge to fit on it, the tooth was absolutely healthy and fine, i have never had any problems with that tooth earlier, the day grinding took place that tooth became sore, very very sensitive and I had to get temp.
Avatar n tn no advice really just a bit of support to say its good news that what tests you have had are all coming home negative. Perhaps you noticed the problem so much as you were feeling unwell with the infection. Now that you seem to be up and about maybe things will imporve for you i do hope so. Sometimes the worry of what could be wrong with us is so great that it makes us feel worse and be too aware of everything.
Avatar m tn for 2 weeks during this time to to the infection which eventually subsided. The RCT on this tooth was finally completed 3 weeks ago and has been fine since then. However the past week i have started the feel the tooth 'pulsing' ie i can intermittently feel my heart pulse through it and it feels strange. I have no pain whatsoever just this 'pulsing'. Has anyone experienced this post - RCT? I am unsure whether i should return to my dentist to get this checked out.
Avatar n tn When I saw the oral surgeon he took a full mouth xray and found the infection in my jaw. I was told by the oral surgeon that the tooth I just had the root canal on should be pulled. I then went back to the dentist and had the tooth pulled and he prepped me for a bridge. I now have a temporary bridge over the extraction. The swelling in my face and neck has gotten worse so I went back to the dentist yesterday and was told it might be the tooth in front of the tooth they just extracted!!!
Avatar m tn Infections in the mouth can cause a problem with an infection in or around the heart; that is the reason some people with heart disease need to have antibiotics before any dental work; however, HBP and a higher than normal HR is not indicative of heart disease. Usually the type of problem you would have as a result of an infection would be a form of dilated cardiomyopathy, myocarditis, pericarditis or endocarditis. You would have been pretty sick, more than likely in the hospital.
Avatar f tn Will the vertigo improve after infected tooth is pulled? Also been infected almost a year could infection be in n blood stream or brain?
Avatar f tn Sounds like a tooth abcess, I had one of this this spring. Got a bump on the gum above the tooth. It can make the tooth hurt, but it doesn't have to. You need to go see a dentist, not good to have infections in the teeth. You need antibiotics and then a root canal with a crown. Very expensive, but the only chance to save the tooth.
