Tooth infection brain symptoms

Common Questions and Answers about Tooth infection brain symptoms

infection

Avatar f tn I finally, with the help of this forum, got the tooth pulled a year after the initial infection. You may have symptoms from the infection but i highly doubt it will get any worse since you are on antibiotics and getting professional care.
Avatar f tn Saw my doctor on Wednesday and he said it sounded like anxiety. Dentist on Thursday, said I had a tooth infection. Freaked out, bc I know that this can spread to your brain. I've had a stye and a sinus infection, so now I'm convinced that it's spreading to my brain. My doctor said it's unlikely, so did the dentist. I'm taking an antibiotic and will be getting the infected tooth out next week. Possibly all 4... It's a top molar that's infected.
Avatar f tn The pain in the head could be due to sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and sometimes a post nasal drip. It could also be due to tooth infections, impacted tooth or skin infections. The others are migrainous headaches and those caused due to brain disorders, disorders of the eyes , neck or ears to name a few. To find a cure you need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. In the meantime take OTC naproxen for relief from pain.
Avatar f tn for me I did a terrible thing with teeth and led to tooth abscess and gum infection ..it keeps inflammating..I guess that was my daemon ..must have spread to brain via nerve tissue..
Avatar n tn I am the reason it ruptured because I was pressing down on it and I worry that I may have pushed some of the infection to the brain. I know I swallowed some of the drainage. I have tried to explain this to a doctor here but I can't seem to get him to understand my concerns.
Avatar f tn immeidatly following tooth extraction and even prior to, I had extreme fatigue, brain fog and overall weakness. No one wanted to tie the symptoms to the tooth infection. I have now spent 3+ years feeling ill. I am not a hypocondriac!! I have been seen by some 5 or 6 neourologists, Hopkins, Duke, Clevleland Clinic, UPENN etc.... had one diagnosis of MS, one of Fybromialgia, Chronic Epstien Barr and so on. Finally, someone told me to have a CT of the tooth, which I did yesturday.
Avatar n tn Hi, The cause for your symptoms could be a sinus infection .It could have been aggravated by a dental infection . Since sometimes the roots of teeth are very close or inside the sinus , periapical infection of the tooth may cause pus formation in the sinus . If the pus doesn’t come out through the tooth canals , it is likely that discharge will be through the nose . Please consult your dentist and ENT surgeon for examination and diagnosis. Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !
Avatar f tn I'm not sure about the brain fog, dizziness or low platelet count. You may want to check with your general physician about that. The pain that radiates out though could be related to a failed root canal though.
Avatar m tn I thought the endodontist did a very poor job). So now I'm on my 2nd day of 500 mg Penicillin QID, and I'm still having pain. I've been taking 600 mg Ibuprofen Q6HR alternating with 1000 mg Acetometophin Q6HR, which helps, but I was wondering: how long should I wait till I possibly suspect the antibiotic is not doing the job on the infection? Also, it was recommended that I have a redo of said root canal, which I agree with, but...is that going to be a very difficult procedure?
1364259 tn?1298661181 Generally been very healthy except tooth problems which I have gotten taken care of. Had a severe tooth infection last month. then after that was pulled started swelling of ankles and potssium levels were high. They put me on water pills and restricted potassium diet. Was told that was taken care of and blood tests came back normal then this started. How many pics do you want? I have 271 from MRI w/wo contrast and CT and do I send them to you?
Avatar f tn 6) and the doctors ruled out strep and mono once again and put him on the same medication regimen. Could his symptoms possibly stem from a tooth abscess?? If not a tooth abscess what else do you think could be causing his symptoms? Thank you in advance for your response.
1418572 tn?1285957661 I have a question. Recently I have been in and out of the hospital complaining about being light headed, having no energy, having random pains through out my body, chest pains, & sometimes a tingling/burning/numbing sensation theoughout my body. They've taken plenty of blood tests and other tests but can't seem to find anything wrong with me. The recent visits I haven't told them about having a rotten tooth.
Avatar m tn I am especially concerned since you give a history of a tooth infection. Whenever there is a tooth infection that is untreated, there is a risk of the bacteria going in to the blood stream and attaching to the valves inside the heart. The bacteria can then grow there in to a vegetation, and parts of it can break of and go to the brain, resulting in a stroke. All of this may be far fetched, since I am unable to examine you.
Avatar f tn First, would the doctor be able to see through a neuro exam if a brain tumor or unruptured aneurysm or infection was present??? Would the symptoms be different if one of these were present??? Second, are these symptoms anxiety related, bc in my head it doesn't seem like it... I'm terrified, everyone keeps tellin me to just relax, but I can't...
Avatar f tn Well, here i am again, posting about my headaches. I am still having them. The tooth has been extracted for 2 weeks now. I am not having the pain when bending over now or moving....it's pretty constant now. It comes in waves and the pain is like a sharp shooting pain stemming from my left side inner nose up to my temple. I am so sick of this pain. I've been suffering since january 8th. I had the headaches as the original symptom and the tooth abscess was found on the CAT scan.
Avatar m tn m trying to figure out what it is, everyone I know say that a tooth infection is very painful, but I only experienced pain in the short period of time the gum was swollen and I haven't had any pain in the tooth itself.

Avatar f tn How will I know if my tooth infection spread to my brain or other parts of my body??? Scared... I have a sinus infection and eye infection. Are all of these related??? Saw a dentist and doctor recently. I've had all sorts of symptoms for 2 + months. I'm so scared that I hVe a brain abscess. Please help... Thank you...
Avatar m tn The reason I posted this in dental is because, recently where I live, I read in the news of a young man dying from a tooth infection spreading to his brain and causing swelling. Well, a while back while at the dentist, they found an infection, and said I needed to be put on anti-biotics, as well as get all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled, and possibly a root canal on another tooth. Unfortunately, I wasn't in a position to get the medication, as I didn't have healthcare at the time.
623537 tn?1243564908 Absolutely! But this would mean the infection is severe. Is there anyone you can borrow the money from to get the root canal done? You have to be careful of tooth infections, as it can spread to the brain. This happened to a friend of mine, she had to go into the hospital, but all turned out okay. Don't want to scare you, but infections can travel, and fast. Maybe you could work out a payment plan with your dentist, but do something.
Avatar f tn Went to the doctor, who diagnosed a sinus infection, and put me on Amoxicillin, and the symptoms quieted down slightly. (I did have a little sinus achiness going on.) But the trigeminal issue was still there. I went back to another dentist for more X-rays (bitewings), wondering if there was a tooth infection missed by the first dentist... But he also said all looked well. Since the symptoms were not resolved, I thought I had a neck problem or TMJ issue.
Avatar f tn He said it could be caused fronm a bad infection and right when this started I had the worse tooth infection I ever had. He said that it is 2 very small white lesions and that they are on the back of my brain and showed me where they were. He said that they are not cancer because I would be getting worse and not better. I am getting better but I still have this! I am just wondering how long it takes for them to get out of my brain and if they ever will?
