Tooth infection brain symptoms

Common Questions and Answers about Tooth infection brain symptoms

Avatar f tn I finally, with the help of this forum, got the tooth pulled a year after the initial infection. You may have symptoms from the infection but i highly doubt it will get any worse since you are on antibiotics and getting professional care.
Avatar f tn Saw my doctor on Wednesday and he said it sounded like anxiety. Dentist on Thursday, said I had a tooth infection. Freaked out, bc I know that this can spread to your brain. I've had a stye and a sinus infection, so now I'm convinced that it's spreading to my brain. My doctor said it's unlikely, so did the dentist. I'm taking an antibiotic and will be getting the infected tooth out next week. Possibly all 4... It's a top molar that's infected.
6530778 tn?1456887401 A tooth infection can eventually spread to your brain, but you would have to have a really, really bad toothache for a long, long time before that could possibly happen. You would know for a long time that something was wrong. You would know that you needed to get your tooth fixed, and there would be plenty of time to take care of it before it spread to your brain.
Avatar m tn A chronic headache can come from lots of things, the most common are some kind of sinus or tooth infection, bad muscle strain in the neck or shoulders, vision insufficiencies that need corrective lenses, and migraines. Usually a brain tumor is indeed accompanied by other symptoms, for example speech or memory might be abnormal, depending on where the tumor might be located. Diff parts of the brain, if pushed on or dying, will produce diff symptoms in all diff parts of the body.
Avatar n tn I am the reason it ruptured because I was pressing down on it and I worry that I may have pushed some of the infection to the brain. I know I swallowed some of the drainage. I have tried to explain this to a doctor here but I can't seem to get him to understand my concerns.
Avatar f tn The pain in the head could be due to sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and sometimes a post nasal drip. It could also be due to tooth infections, impacted tooth or skin infections. The others are migrainous headaches and those caused due to brain disorders, disorders of the eyes , neck or ears to name a few. To find a cure you need to consult your primary care physician for proper assessment. In the meantime take OTC naproxen for relief from pain.
Avatar f tn How will I know if my tooth infection spread to my brain or other parts of my body??? Scared... I have a sinus infection and eye infection. Are all of these related??? Saw a dentist and doctor recently. I've had all sorts of symptoms for 2 + months. I'm so scared that I hVe a brain abscess. Please help... Thank you...
Avatar n tn can make neurological symptoms worse. However, one has to be concerned that the symptoms are real and that anxiety is making them worse and not causings them. Our perception of reality can vary according to our mental state. This does not make the symptoms less real to the individual however. If a full work up was done, then your symptoms might be due to a conversion disorder, anxiety, etc. I would first make sure that the symptoms are not real.
Avatar m tn for the past eight years, i've been having movements on the top of my head and face somtimes in the roof of my mouth ,tightness and sometimes it feels like someone is pulling it togather i'm also feeling i'm hearing, load sounds coming from my head , and i'm feeling my ear drums moving also i went to the doctor, and she send me for a brain xray and the result came back negative i went to another doctor and did a MRI, that also came nack negative the doctor thinks i'm schizophe
Avatar m tn Also, the dentist mentioned that in prolonged sitiuations of infection......the Brain could also be affected. This brings me to my next question; I have had like a "dull slight pain" around the upper left rear of my head, and a woozy feeling....usually in the mornings for a couple hours after waking up....then as I am moving around during the day I notice nothing. Is it just a coincidence or is this all connected........the congestion, mucus, dull pain, woozy feeling?
Avatar f tn immeidatly following tooth extraction and even prior to, I had extreme fatigue, brain fog and overall weakness. No one wanted to tie the symptoms to the tooth infection. I have now spent 3+ years feeling ill. I am not a hypocondriac!! I have been seen by some 5 or 6 neourologists, Hopkins, Duke, Clevleland Clinic, UPENN etc.... had one diagnosis of MS, one of Fybromialgia, Chronic Epstien Barr and so on. Finally, someone told me to have a CT of the tooth, which I did yesturday.
Avatar n tn When your gums start letting out the puss on an infected tooth that means the tooth is SEVERELY infected, and because it is so close to the brain, the infection can actually kill you if its bad enough. You need to get that tooth pulled and get antibiotics to fight the infection. That is the only way your cheek swelling will go down. Trust me...ive had 3 teeth pulled and 2 of them sound like they were as bad as yours.
7984650 tn?1395998339 I return in 1 month to my family doctor to hear the results of his research and possibly get some brain scans in. Other people on forums that share my symptoms seem to never get any results from the scans but if it helps narrow things down, it is certainly worth it. Hope things are going well with you, just thought I would post an update.
Avatar f tn It was a very old root canal that had the abscess. So, could this possibly be the tooth? Still? Maybe the infection isn't cleared up? I was on penicillin and then a Z pac after the tooth was extracted! This is totally consuming my life. I feel like doing nothing and all I do is worry that this is a brain tumor or something more serious. I had a Cat scan and spinal tap in the ER weeks ago and everything was "normal". this week, i have 3 dr's appts.
Avatar n tn even the vibrations in head. Search on internet shows possible infection into brain, If this were so can I take antibiotics and clear up sym. then have wisdom t. removed. or is it more complicated than that. Desperate for advice. Randy Have gone to 2 other hospitals for advice they said if I have ins. I can make an appt. So advice to see dr. will be a dead end as I cant even get one to take payments.
1364259 tn?1298664781 Generally been very healthy except tooth problems which I have gotten taken care of. Had a severe tooth infection last month. then after that was pulled started swelling of ankles and potssium levels were high. They put me on water pills and restricted potassium diet. Was told that was taken care of and blood tests came back normal then this started. How many pics do you want? I have 271 from MRI w/wo contrast and CT and do I send them to you?
Avatar n tn The swelling may not resolve for awhile because you still have an active source of infection due to a bad tooth I assume. Once the tooth it out, the swelling should probably be gone in a week or so.
Avatar n tn While the body may be accustomed to a particular blood sugar level, when a person binges and certain sweet acid levels in the mouth increase time after time, enamel erodes, hair sized tooth nerves degenerate, and infection eventually takes place. As alcohol is a derivative of fruit or grain sugars and starches, weekend parties can serve as the end point for dental health, causing the root canal culture of America and Europe.

Avatar f tn I am a 47 woman with appx. 19 brain lesions in the white matter of my brain. Have had several MRI's was misdiagnosed and treated for MS for several years before a new neurologist stated it is not MS. Spinal Taps are negative, Negative for Lymes. Am currently taking, Neurontin, Celebrex, Cymbalta, a muscle relaxer, Trazadone. Have intermintent periods of dizziness and loss of balance. Had a problem with WPW.
Avatar f tn All of that sounds like massive allergies or sinus issues (been there done that - which is why I think you might need a second opinion) If your ENT ordered a complete facial x-ray - and did a test --- it could also be polyps inside your nasal/sinus area or a very bad bacterial infection. It doesn't sound like any of the HEP symptoms --- if you're not having everything else... And yeah - you could have gotten a viral cold from your encounter...
619150 tn?1247051874 Probably not a literal infection in the brain but in the facial spaces of your head. Or possibly in the jaw bone but causing some pressure in the sinus area as well. Again, I would find a dentist immediately or go to the ER for this chronic abscess. At least get some antibiotics to help prevent the spread of bacteria. Contact your local dental society for a list of dentists which take medicaid.
Avatar f tn My blood pressure was high in the beginning of April and has finally come down after I took antibiotics for a tooth infection (not 100% sure if that is why my BP went down, just speculating). Now I keep on having pressure at the top of my head and right after the pressure I will feel a little off. Feeling like I will have a panic attack/anxiety attack. These feelings also come on if I turn my head to quickly or wake up to fast in the morning.
Avatar f tn He had been sick for about two weeks with a cold/cough and then his tooth got infected. He went to the dentist for the infection and they gave him vicodin for the pain. Same day he got the medicine is when I catch him snorting one of the pills. I ask him if he has been snorting anything else? Which of course just pisses him off, he says no but I'm just not convinced. He said that he only snorted the vicodin because he was in so much pain.
Avatar f tn The abscessed tooth I had several years ago is the WORST pain I have ever felt (outside of passing a kidney/urinary stone). It seems like those jaw/tooth nerves go right to one's pain center in the brain. I hope your vet is able to help and that you and your kitty have a very many happy years together.
Avatar f tn The dental part, I have a upper tooth on the affected side that has had a root canal done on it about 20 years ago, it has broke down to the gum line, asked dentist to just remove it, had alot of trouble with it when the canal was started, kept sending me back home with antibiotics saying they couldn't finish it because of infection, this tooth is where the tingling is on my face, I also have to add, this is strange but, I never had a wart in my life, when I was pregnant with my son I develope
Avatar f tn So, do you guys think that these symptoms are from my anxiety? I am constantly lightheaded/dizzy, left side of face feels full, ear feels full, eye feels funny, jaw feels funny, left arm numb every now and then, feel like legs are weak sometimes, feeling like i'm going to pass out, lump in throat. I just cant believe how much anxiety can take over your body! Is it possible that all of these symptoms are just from some crazy thing thats all in my head?? I can hardley stand it anymore!!!!
Avatar n tn When there's widespread numbness and tingling along with other scattered symptoms, it's difficult to localize the lesion to specific spots in the brain that may be damaged by MS. However, there is a small amount of patients who DO have nonspecific, vague neurologic symptoms that don't localize anywhere and the MRI shows classic MS spots throughout the brain and spinal cord. In your case, though, the MRI (should have brain AND spine) was clean which makes the diagnosis of MS much less likely.
Avatar f tn I've always had head pain/pressure, stiff neck and shoulder muscles, slight weakness of the left side of my body, inability to swallow sometimes, intense dizziness........ I'm used to that but now I am having symptoms that are new and I have no idea if they are related to Chiari or not. Something is wrong with the back of my head.
