Avatar m tn Now a month after the extraction. One day I was pushing on (whats left of the lump) and playing with it. The lump on my gums came back to the stage where it was before i gotten to tooth extracted. What can this be??
Avatar m tn Two weeks ago I had tooth #21 extracted. Several days after the extraction I did develop a partial dry socket that has since felt much better and the open hole is shrinking now. As the gums around the tooth socket continue to shrink/heal I have developed a very sore spot on the lip side of my gums 4mm below the edge of the socket.
Avatar m tn I went to a dentist 2 weeks ago to do a regular check up because i felt a little pain and i noticed the upper left of my gums were swollen and around that area there was a hard lump on the gums where i had a tooth extraction a year ago. After the check up the female dentist told me that there was nothing wrong with my teeth and the lump was just the bone that was left after the extraction and the gums were swollen because of food touching the empty space of gums where i had the extraction.
Avatar f tn I have hypercementosis(mis spell) and had an extraction of number 4 tooth 6 weeks ago. I'm experience a lot of pain and the only thing that helps is my finger in place of the missing tooth. I've had two course of antibotics. The area has been checked twice and they thought I might need a root canal in tooth number 5. Specialist checked with no reaction to hot, cold and pressure so she prescribed oral rinse. I looked and the area is white but doctor said that it's healing.
Avatar n tn The dentist took an x-ray and said the tooth was abcessed and the tooth needed to be pulled. When she was pulling the tooth, I was in excrutiating pain, and she said there was a pus discharge and my gums were turning black and blue. My questions are: Should I have been given antibiotics first, and then come back in a few days to have the tooth pulled, after the initial infection that I complained about had been given time to clear up?
Avatar n tn I have just had a tooth extracted (lower left not molar) last Monday the 12th and it has been giving me problems every since. Three days after I was in a lot of pain I called my dentist but I was told this was normal because the tooth had to be surgically removed and just take the pain medicine until my next appointment the next following Monday.
Avatar m tn HI, A gap remains in the gums after tooth extraction. This can be stitched with sutures or it can also heal on its own. The only thing you need to be careful about is that there should be no infection. You can ask your dentist to have a look. Hope this helps. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor. Take care and keep us posted.

Avatar f tn I am just finishing up amoxicillin. My gums on one side of the extraction site is puffy and tender. Is this normal after so much time as past? The dentist took an x Ray last week (five days after extraction) and said all looked well.
Avatar n tn I recently had a wisdom tooth removed (tooth #1) because of decay. The tooth was errupted and the removal was done in the dentist's office with novicaine and had no complications. After receiveing the bill, I realized that the dentist had charge for the extraction as well as an alveoplasty.
Avatar m tn A bony spicule is when after an extraction, the jaw bone is sharp and painful to touch. So when the gums are depressed, the sharp bone may stab the gums. These sharp spots go away by themselves as the bone changes/remodels but you can also perform surgery to remove these bony spicules. As you can see, there are plenty of possibilities but since your dentist said dry socket, I'd go with that explanation.
Avatar n tn I had a lower left rear tooth removed that had a bridge attached. Since the tooth was extracted and sawed off from the opposite tooth I believe I had dry socket. The hole from the extraction is slowly closing but the pain in my gum on the side and under my tongue area has not decreased. It feels like blisters or open cuts in that area. I have seen my dentist and had the tooth packed 3 times and also repacked it at home with clove oil and also used an anesthetic gel for the outside gum.
1809287 tn?1316744936 about a week ago i had a tooth extraction done on my very back molar on my lower right side. the extraction went pretty well, although quite uncomfortable. afterwards, i felt somewhat okay, but about two to three days after i started to feel this uncomfortable pain in my lower jaw bone. the pain is felt in my jaw, my throat, my temple, my neck and my ear. i am having constant headaches.
Avatar f tn However, my cheek (on my jawline) is still swollen and puffy (not hard, just puffy), as are the gums around the extraction site and the tooth adjacent to the extraction site. When I brush around the wound, the wound itself does not bleed, but the gums beside it do bleed (minimally) and I'm scared. I had my tooth pulled at a dental school and because the tooth was "hooked", it took 2 students and 1 OS resident over 2 hours to get the tooth out.
Avatar f tn I had all 4 pulled when I was 29 weeks. (Im 33 now). Since u can only have novacaine I was scared too. The first 3 were a piece of cake. The fourth one he had to cut my gums because he couldn't get it out and I think the tooth broke. As long as ur tooth comes right out u just feel pressure. And it was uncomfortable after for a few days and u have a hole there until ur gums grow over it. I was in so much pain as well though so im glad I did it.
Avatar n tn I just had crownlengenthing done on my lower jaw last friday and the stitches fell out within 4 days, the gums near one tooth really pulled back and has like a pocket between the gum & tooth and hurts like when I had a dry socket. ( I can stick my tongue in it) I was told I can't have dry socket with this, but boy does it hurt. Will the gums draw back to the tooth? DO I treat it the same as dry socket?
784382 tn?1376931040 next is the crown to be made, then a deep medicated cleaning and 2 fillings. almost done....hopefully.....when they did the extraction the tooth did break so i dont know if that caused the hole to be bigger, but its deff still there i wannt say about the size of a piece of rice, maybe a little bigger.... food still getting stuck in there ALL the time but im really good about rinsing sfter i eat anything cause i can feel the food stuck there......
Avatar m tn I had an abscess in my tooth and it has been extracted now it's infected and I am on antibiotics it is still bleeding after 48 hours now just wondering if I could get a bit of advice please
Avatar f tn I had an extraction a few years ago while preg. It was painful, but not nearly as painful as the abscessed tooth. And afterwards I was really thankful because the pain from all the excess blood in the gums, etc really made me miserable.
Avatar n tn He says it might take 5 or 6 months. Also the tooth next to my eye tooth which was crowned before extraction is breaking off at gum. I believe he made crown too large therefore crowding the tooth out between that eye tooth and the one behind it. Have got appt. to see him next week. Don't know what to do. I feel like he has ruined my upper gums.
Avatar m tn Just had a tooth extraction, removed all of my wisdom teeth. All areas have healed more or less except my bottom right. That area still hasnt healed and gums are beginning to surround my molar (tooth 31)? Also the inner lining of my mouth near my jaw line is a blood red. Is this an infection? Should I seek a dentist out asap?
Avatar f tn Been to the dentist twice in just over two weeks, both unplanned, first visit an extraction after a tooth broke second visit a temporary filling until baby is born then an extraction... Prior to pregnancy id had one filling in my life!
Avatar n tn "This may seem weird but one thing I had not noticed until I got home today is that the tooth hurts when it is tapped on or near the sides BUT if I place my thumb under the bottom of that tooth to apply pressure and THEN tap, there is NOT ANY pain at all." Just read your comment how is your tooth now? Im experiencing the same problem after being preped for a crown on Friday. I have no lump or any facial swelling but by god am I in pain.
Avatar f tn If its healing nicely as he says, there maybe some other issue with another tooth or the extraction may have been somewhat difficult and it may be injured the tooth next to it, which also will take some time to heal. At one month though, most of the healing should've taken place. Any further plans for treatment besides removing that bad tooth?
Avatar f tn I have had four teeth removed all at different times. The gums hurt where the teeth are missing. If I eat steak or chips it hurts bad. I went to the dentist and he said that it appears as if my gums are burnt. He suggested partials. What could be causing this pain? They hurt just to touch. Its been two years since the first extraction.
Avatar m tn It was the right upper wisdom tooth. In the same day after my wisdom tooth extraction, I developed nasal congestion in the right nostril. From that day till now, the nasal congestion has been present everyday and it alternates between nostrils from time to time. I've visited the ENT twice. The first time, the doctor did a nose scope and confirmed that my nose was congested. She then prescribed me Nasonex nasal spray to be used for 6 weeks (2 puffs in each nostril, once a day).
