t believe that it would cause tooth decay unless the stains it is breaking up is actually covering decay that has been there for awhile. This was an explanation given to me by my dentist. Hope this helps.

I've been having extremely cavity build-up since I can remember. but the decay that close the the nerve... depending on hoe close the perm. tooth is to the baby tooth it could already have a bit of decay already. a root canal and a crown are very expensive to be doing on a tooth that will be falling out very soon. if you plan to get him braces have the tooth extracted to prevent any possible decay to his adult teeth if it hasnt already. and that will give the adult tooth the space it needs to come in if it is close enough any ways.

it turned out that I do have decay on this tooth and I feel pain because it goes under my gum.. so baically my gum hurts. They put a temporary filling in and we wait now.

Do you use listerine tooth whitening rinse/mouthwash. I did for a while and my teeth/mouth did the same thing and stopped immediately when I stopped the whitening rinse.

It usually originates from a bacterial infection which has accumulated in the soft dead pulp of the tooth. It can be caused by tooth decay, broken teeth or any extensive periodontal disease. There is no definite time it takes for this abscess to form. It depends on the severity of the organisms and their virulence. This is merely an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. If you do get your teeth whitened, be prepared for them to be quite sensitive for a while. Usually the dentist will apply a fluoride treatment to help with the sensitivity and recommend that you use some kind of fluoride rinse. So I have one upper molar tooth which was root canaled 10 years ago and one next to this which was root canaled 4 years ago. Last month my dentist mentioned I have a decay on one of these (i dont remember which one). We have arranged an appointment for the 15th of December. s the peroxide in the whitening mouthwash. I had the same problem, and it went away when I switched from Crest whitening toothpaste to Tom's of Maine natural. There could be other ingredients in the Crest as well, but I know the peroxide has that effect.

Your best best is to brush with backing soda and peroxide that is what all these tooth paste use in order to help whiten teeth or just got to the dentist and get your teeth cleaned that's all.

I would consult with your endodontist and see what they say. They opened the tooth and saw what was going on inside. Your general dentist can do that also. If there's extensive decay in that tooth still or there's some reason to believe the bridge is bad, then replacing it would be ideal. If the decay isn't bad and the bridge seems fine, then placing a filling in there would work as well.

You should check with your dentist for a decay in the tooth which could be on the sides of the tooth and not visible to you.
