Avatar n tn Dear Friend, I have written a short story which I send to everyone who is looking for help with basic dental problems. Several paragraphs concern the source of dental problems, the rest details natural remedies for relief. I have had a number of experiences, from basic cavities, fillings, to replacement of metal fillings with epoxy, root canals, infections, extractions, and now contemplating implants.

16702 tn?1234090645 There is nothing wrong with using a toothpaste with fluoride or fluoride mouth rinse.I do not know of any natural remedies that might help.If your mouth is dry it is important that try to keep it as moist as possible. There are some over the counter items that can be used to substitute for your own saliva. Much good luck.
Avatar m tn Remember - The years old issue tooth that needed a filling had created an abyss and this as stated created a decay / a hole in the gum. You wouldn't really realise the hole unless you really checked and compared. Meanwhile, 2 teeth down from this, completely unknown to me, the back tooth was in a state of decay. The decay and smell of it being ONLY being obvious ONLY when the dentist extracted it.
Avatar f tn whats tooth decay and what can happen
623537 tn?1243564908 Dear Jobean, Please realize the process of tooth and root decay keeps happening unless people change dietary habits. I assume you already have good hygiene. Although dental problems have been the bane of mankind since the dawn of time, factory food products, social eating traditions, and use of sugar in just about everything does nothing to prevent tooth decay.
Avatar f tn I have decay under crown and dentist wants to remove tooth but I also have a bridge next to this and the supporting tooth for this has roots going sideways due to an impacted tooth in gum line. This may become unstable after extraction and i end up with a large gap . what is the alternative. I have no pain under crown but gum is soft due to the decay.

560272 tn?1311350293 Why do I have so much tooth decay and tooth loss, when I know other people that eat/drink worse than I do and none of their teeth are missing? That's why I was thinking vitamin deficiency related. I wish I could see a holistic doctor, but man they are pricey! And now with my teeth issues, I'm scared to eat anything hard or crunchy...so it is even harder to eat healthy! Life can be very unfair.
Avatar f tn but the decay that close the the nerve... depending on hoe close the perm. tooth is to the baby tooth it could already have a bit of decay already. a root canal and a crown are very expensive to be doing on a tooth that will be falling out very soon. if you plan to get him braces have the tooth extracted to prevent any possible decay to his adult teeth if it hasnt already. and that will give the adult tooth the space it needs to come in if it is close enough any ways.
Avatar f tn can it be done with out anesthesia, and what are some herbs and natural remedies to clear the infected area after the tooth is romoved?
Avatar f tn it turned out that I do have decay on this tooth and I feel pain because it goes under my gum.. so baically my gum hurts. They put a temporary filling in and we wait now.
Avatar n tn Please feed mostly canned, since this is best for the kidneys and to prevent subclinical dehydration. Dry food does little to prevent tooth decay. Tooth decay is dependent on heredity and dental hygiene such as daily brushing of your dog's teeth. Even the best food may require additional supplements. For example, if you dogs' coats appear dull, add extra fish oil supplements.
Avatar m tn hello im 18 years old and i have tooth decay and cavity,i have only pain near jaw teeth and head, as i see no swelling or fever i went to dentist she said that it does not look like Tooth abscess and told me to come in a week, can i ask during Tooth abscess your face always gets swollen yes?
Avatar f tn It usually originates from a bacterial infection which has accumulated in the soft dead pulp of the tooth. It can be caused by tooth decay, broken teeth or any extensive periodontal disease. There is no definite time it takes for this abscess to form. It depends on the severity of the organisms and their virulence. This is merely an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. I hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
1559578 tn?1295455644 I'm new to the site but find it very helpful so far. I'm on methadone maintenance for serious opiate addiction (70mg/day). I've been on methadone for over a year now and am about to begin the slow detox. I've been noticing serious tooth decay lately and was just wondering if it's the methadone??? Has anyone else had this problem, and what did you do about it? I brush my teeth twice a day, but still problems. I even had to have a tooth pulled last week it was so bad.
Avatar n tn suggesting that I do not have a bleeding gums or the gums are not wounded or broken and bleeding... just a tooth decay.. did I get infected also... I have done it last Saturday evening, July 12, 2008, I do not clearly remember if I give her the oral sex longer... because the morning I have a headache and feeling not ok like I would be having a fever and cannot eat well, and so my stomach is little troubled also... should I think it is but a Hang Over?
Avatar n tn You may find that dentists do not spend any time counceling their patients relative to the things that cause tooth and root decay, or how to get free from it. Why should they when they make money from dental disease. The primary cause of dental problems is diet, and no amount of dental work can stop the decay process. They just keep patching them. Once injured, teeth do not heal.
Avatar f tn I recently ordered a HydroFloss oral irrigator to reduce and hopefully eliminate tooth decay and gum disease. I read that most people brush too hard and that causes erosion and staining results and more susceptible to decay.
Avatar n tn if the filling that exists in the top of the tooth is large, and if this newly discovered decay is extensive, the tooth may need a crown after the decay is cleaned out and the cavity filled. remember that the more "filling" a tooth has, the more prone to fracture it is. when teeth do fracture, sometimes they cannot be restored at all, so placing a crown befoe that happens is oftentimes prudent if the fillings are large.
Avatar m tn Removing gum is never a good idea, doing this leaves room for bacteria to get under the crown and decay the tooth and especially as you age because our gums just naturally recede. You will be able to eat as always just maintain good oral health. Brush 2-3 times a day, thoroughly but gently with a soft toothbrush. Floss thoroughly but gently every night and use a toothpaste containing fluoride and a mouthwash that helps strengthen your tooth enamel and kill bacteria.
Avatar f tn So I have one upper molar tooth which was root canaled 10 years ago and one next to this which was root canaled 4 years ago. Last month my dentist mentioned I have a decay on one of these (i dont remember which one). We have arranged an appointment for the 15th of December. But this week this tooth hurts :( I can not imagine how.. root canaled teeth can be decayed ok but pain? Why am I feeling pain if this tooth is basically dead for years?
Avatar m tn I would consult with your endodontist and see what they say. They opened the tooth and saw what was going on inside. Your general dentist can do that also. If there's extensive decay in that tooth still or there's some reason to believe the bridge is bad, then replacing it would be ideal. If the decay isn't bad and the bridge seems fine, then placing a filling in there would work as well.
1090984 tn?1463769850 A post is not uncommon when having a root canal. Did the dentist say you have gingivitis and that's why they want to laser your gums? If you do have gingivitis around that area it would make sense because the gum needs to grow around the crown, which it can't if you have gingivitis, just like your natural tooth. Is this a molar tooth your having the work done on? That could also explain the post because those teeth are so big.
