Avatar f tn I have decay under crown and dentist wants to remove tooth but I also have a bridge next to this and the supporting tooth for this has roots going sideways due to an impacted tooth in gum line. This may become unstable after extraction and i end up with a large gap . what is the alternative. I have no pain under crown but gum is soft due to the decay.

Avatar f tn but the decay that close the the nerve... depending on hoe close the perm. tooth is to the baby tooth it could already have a bit of decay already. a root canal and a crown are very expensive to be doing on a tooth that will be falling out very soon. if you plan to get him braces have the tooth extracted to prevent any possible decay to his adult teeth if it hasnt already. and that will give the adult tooth the space it needs to come in if it is close enough any ways.
Avatar f tn It usually originates from a bacterial infection which has accumulated in the soft dead pulp of the tooth. It can be caused by tooth decay, broken teeth or any extensive periodontal disease. There is no definite time it takes for this abscess to form. It depends on the severity of the organisms and their virulence. This is merely an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. I hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar m tn Though around the same time, I went to the dentist, who noticed that I had bad decay behind one of my pre-molars on the same side as the lymph node. He took away as much of the decay as possible, but said "We're getting very close to the root/nerve now, and there is still some decay left", so he offered root canal, or trying to put an antibiotic cream on the inside of the tooth and fill it with a filling.
Avatar m tn hello im 18 years old and i have tooth decay and cavity,i have only pain near jaw teeth and head, as i see no swelling or fever i went to dentist she said that it does not look like Tooth abscess and told me to come in a week, can i ask during Tooth abscess your face always gets swollen yes?
Avatar n tn Thank you so much for your responses. I do have another question in order to check to see how much decay, you mention X rays. Will my cat have to be sedated for that as well?
Avatar n tn if she carries the HIV is there a chance for me to get infected if I had a toothdecay? if the tooth has a decay, can the virus get into my system? suggesting that I do not have a bleeding gums or the gums are not wounded or broken and bleeding... just a tooth decay.. did I get infected also... I have done it last Saturday evening, July 12, 2008, I do not clearly remember if I give her the oral sex longer...
Avatar m tn The Dentist can have done the best possible job but if you haven't changed your diet then new decay can occur. Eating a lot of sugary foods and drinks and snacking between meals isn't good for your teeth. A regular brushing regime with a fluoride toothpaste is also needed. There are a lot of hidden sugars in foods. Try creating a food diary for a week and highlighting all the foods that contain sugar.
Avatar n tn if the filling that exists in the top of the tooth is large, and if this newly discovered decay is extensive, the tooth may need a crown after the decay is cleaned out and the cavity filled. remember that the more "filling" a tooth has, the more prone to fracture it is. when teeth do fracture, sometimes they cannot be restored at all, so placing a crown befoe that happens is oftentimes prudent if the fillings are large.
Avatar f tn Oh and in the mirror I think I see the decay between these two teeth.
Avatar m tn t understand how the tooth would have extensive decay, as it has been covered by the bridge for the past 6 years. Is it common for decay to develop under the bridgework on the stumped supporting teeth? I also have an opposing gold bridge on the lower right side that is over 25 years old now. No similar problems to date, touch wood. Although, my dentist has also suggested this one needs to be replaced. Any furhter clarity is appreciated.
Avatar n tn Molars which are in the back, kids have for many years and leaving the tooth could cause issues to the permanent teeth that comes in behind it. Also, when a four year old has a rotting tooth, they will begin to address oral hygiene. Some kids are more prone to cavities than others simply due to their genetics. Flossing becomes really critical to get in between those teeth.
Avatar n tn Please feed mostly canned, since this is best for the kidneys and to prevent subclinical dehydration. Dry food does little to prevent tooth decay. Tooth decay is dependent on heredity and dental hygiene such as daily brushing of your dog's teeth. Even the best food may require additional supplements. For example, if you dogs' coats appear dull, add extra fish oil supplements.
Avatar f tn Among them it could be due to a crack on the tooth, bite problems, decay to the nerve, infection and need for root canal, sinus problems to name a few. Get to this ASAP, before it gets worse and causes more damage. Here is a link on info on root canals if you need it. I would recommend if you need a root canal to see a board certified endodontist. http://www.top3dentists.
Avatar m tn hiv dont survive well in the buccal cavity and definitely not on the tooth decay site. Without a host cell, it is impossible for the virus to survive.the site of tooth decay have no route for the virus to enter. it is like you are trying to walk through a wall. impossible.
Avatar f tn they(doctor) could not find the infection in my face it not till i almost swallowed the tooth from the root canal..no tooth left to hold the pin,,my face has been numb for 11 months..I just had my teeth cleaned 2 weeks ago and she didnt see the loose crown with decay...no medication..still been to hospitals too..they said its not that..so if the pus is comming from the face through the tooth..and thats not the cause of my infection all you dentist are confusing me..my face is still numb now...
Avatar n tn No such discomfort with pressure applied to the top of the tooth or to the tongue side of the tooth. I have for the most part been able to eat and drink normally. Although I haven’t chewed on that side of my mouth from that point on. And honestly haven’t done so since Sept 2008. I did floss on Sept 28th and am curious if that loosen the crown. I could not floss once I notice the pain. I’m not a regular flosser… never have been.
Avatar n tn if i know a tooth is infected, i would want my patient on antibiotics. the status of this tooth should also be evaluated by the school, or a 3rd dentist. dentists are supposed to bill insurance companies when crowns are cemented. so the dentist should not yet have billed for the 2 new crowns, and should return the money to the insurance company for the 2 "old" crowns that broke, since they faile, if you elect not to continue treqatment there..
Avatar n tn t know for sure shaedow but I have had more tooth decay in the last yr thatn ever in my life and I take care of my teeth...
Avatar n tn If two health roots are preserved, the tooth can function well for many years. It appears that you had rct redo and periapical surgery already, if you were my patient, I would do root amputation. Root amputation is generally not associated with post-op pain. However, cheek swelling is commonly encountered. If you are concerned about post-op pain, premedication with antibiotics and NSAID are helpful.

Avatar n tn I went for my regular dental appt. I was told I had a huge decay in my r. upper rearmost molar. My dentist drilled out all the decay. She said she could see the nerve but did not hit it. She had to do a build up on the tooth and put all medicated layers along with a temporary crown. My tooth hurt pretty bad for about 3 days and then from time to time was a little sore, nothing bad. 2 1/2 weeks after temporary crown put on I am having severe pain. The pain radiates up to my temple.
Avatar f tn It's rare for a tooth to break near the gum. I would have it checked out to make sure there isn't any decay. Even if there is he can fill it and build the tooth back up.
Avatar n tn The very last tooth had and old filling, the middle tooth an ugly crown and the tooth in front of it a large crack and decay under existing filling. My DDS opted for an inlay, onlay and new crown. From the time the numbing medicine wore off the cracked tooth hurt. I returned to my DDS 3 or 4 times complaining of a toothache, jaw pain and earache. He felt the tooth was "too high" and adjusted it to no avail. Today I had a root canal on the tooth....and guess what?
Avatar m tn Hi again, If you take good care of the tooth with proper brushing and flossing, it should last a long time. RCT teeth will only decay if there is reason for decay, i.e. poor dental care. If you can keep it from decaying underneath a crown or filling, it will be fine. Once the nerve is removed, the tooth shell is still there and the nerve channel is filled. It can no longer feel sensation to heat or cold but it's still a tooth.
