tongue

Avatar f tn About 3 weeks ago, I noticed some small white spots / bumps appearing on my gums. I have decent oral hygeiene (visits onc per year and very few cavitites), and it has me scared to death when I see web info about mouth sots being related to cancer and AIDS. Please help. This discussion is related to white spots on gum that appeared suddenly.
250701 tn?1320974765 I have had oral lichen planus on my gums, lips and sometimes tongue for some years now; not as a result of treatment but as a result of Hepc. It is painful and is aggravated by anxiety, stress, some weather changes, and substances such as cinnamon, spicy food, vinegar, whitening toothpaste etc.. You have to stay away from certain things that aggravate it. I wouldn't use any kind of substance that would cause something like this to burn.
Avatar n tn After about 3 weeks the feeling came back on one side but since the surgery the entire left side of my mouth (tongue, gums and lower left side of my mouth) have remained numb where I can stick a pin in it and wouldn't feel it at all. This has caused me to eat only on the right side of my mouth. Chewing is difficult because I cannot feel my tongue, I sometimes bite it without knowing. I cannot feel when I floss on that side and have to be careful that I am not cutting into my gums.
Avatar m tn She started performing unprotected oral sex on me (i remember she had a piercing on her tongue) after this we had protected vaginal sex. The next day in the afternoon i have started feeling sick, headache, sore throat and vomiting after 3 days of rest i was feeling ok again.

Avatar m tn in a drunken escapade someone put there tongue in my mouth for a few secounds, I do not know if they have hiv, I am not sure if there were any cuts or sores in my mouth, I don't remember tasting any blood, but I am worried about catching hiv from kissing is this possible, I also have ocd and I think a lot of my worry stems from this
Avatar m tn Before sex, since i smoke a lot i used mouthwash (listerine) to clean my breath and she used it too. Then as i said, we french-kissed with a lot of tongue action and some biting involved . Although i was drunk, I remembered no present blood. I am not concerned abaout the vaginal sex because I am wearing condom.
Avatar f tn My tongue is white in the morning. But after eating and drinking water the white spots dissapearred. Is that normal? After hours without eating and some water the white spots appeared again.
Avatar f tn I would think it safe to say that you are probably having a dysfunction in the cranial nerve that controls the tongue. They also have you smile big, showing all of your teeth, lifting the lips off the gums. This always makes me crack up as I feel like a monkey and probably look like one too. If you google "neurological examination" you can learn more about this. They even have videos. You have had two episodes of optic neuritis and later had curvature of the tongue.
Avatar n tn You may be brushing your tongue too hard, or you gums could be bleeding. Sometimes if you dont floss enough the gums can bleed and you may not may not see exactly where the blood is coming from. Does your tongue burn or ache when you brush it. You may have something call geographic tongue. It happens when people are under stress. Not too many people have it but it does exist. It can cause your tongue to be more sensitive and bleed.
Avatar f tn Seems unlikely although it is odd that the burning sensation occurs only after a dental cleaning and not anything else. Have you asked your dentist at all? Perhaps you're allergic to something that is used during dental cleanings? Does your symptoms appear at any other time?
Avatar n tn I noticed my gums are white in many areas of my mouth, under my tongue, cheeks, top of tongue. my lingual tonsils and the large taste buds at the back of my mouth seem to be inflamed but the dr said they were normal. I think I see/feel tiny bumps on the roof of my mouth but the dr said he did not see them when he looked with his drs tool. my thrush is still here and I am becoming increasingly more paranoid that maybe this is a sign of a primary herpes outbreak instead of thrush.
Avatar f tn Tongue tingling is a fairly common symtom in MS. I've had that for 2 1/2 years straight, and in the beginning I also had slight numbness on the left side of gums and lips. These are paresthesias (abnormal sensations), as there is nothing structurally or functionally wrong. Tongue pain falls into the same category, though it sounds a lot worse. You might get some relief from a medication for neuropathic pain such as Neurontin or Lyrica.
Avatar f tn The inflammation makes gums swollen, and also affects tongue by white coating. If the tongue is covered by a coating, it may indicate the presence of toxins in the stomach, small intestine or large intestine. You need to take regular Vitamin C supplements with maintenance of good oral hygiene. I suggest you to consult ENT specialist and get proper treatment. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Why is my tongue so sore? I have dry mouth from taking prescriptions and my tongue over a period of time has become very sore and sensitive to salt or pepper or spicy food.
Avatar n tn I have recently noticed due to stress and anxiety of thinking I have contracted hsv(herpes) inside my mouth that my lower part of gums/jaw under my tongue is swollen. I believe that it looks similar to pictures I have seen of mandibular torus but not so rounded more longish following the bone structure but sticking out a few millimetres. There are two similar growths on either side, the one on the left is slightly larger then the right but almost the same.
Avatar f tn The bumps and blisters on my tongue have not went away but do not bother me anymore but my gums are still very sore and bleed. This has lasted for about 3 months and I had swollen lymoh nodes in my neck for a few weeks in the beggining but that went away. I have not had any sick feelings or fever or anything like that just problems with my mouth I am very concerned as to what it may be.
Avatar f tn t even remember if I swabbed my gums with it, but I licked it with my tongue because when I gave it back to the nurse she said she didn't think it would be wet enough to get a significant sample. You are supposed to swab the gums and cheeks as the test is for use with oral fluid- NOT saliva (which is on the tongue.
Avatar m tn I have a habit of rubbing my tongue where the lips meet the gums (near chin). Now, i have white gums on the lower part of the front three teeth. It is not painful always, I have no problem while eating and drinking. In fact, when I drink hot beverages, it feels good. The Pain is not 24x7 and it is mild. Need to know what could cause this and if there are any remedies which relates to such issue.
Avatar n tn I had 6 porcelain veneers fitted to my teeth about 6 months ago, my gums are now very red and bleed if I apply any pressure while brushing. It seems to have gotten worse over time. I floss daily and use a soft brush, I've tried an electric toothbrush and mouth wash, but nothing works. I'm worried that I must have an allergy to the glue or the veneers and that it will never go away.
Avatar n tn My gums are swelling inside on the top portion above tongue I just want to know what might be the cause of this one and is their any cure because it's hard to eat
Avatar n tn A week ago I contracted a mouth infection. I tried treating it with mouthwashes, diluted TCP, salt water and even oral thrush cream, but nothing worked. I saw my dentist 2 days ago and got antibiotics. The tooth is healing well but I'm still having problems with my tongue and gums. My tongue has lots and lots of tiny white spots on the ends and sides which are extremely painful all the time, it's got a strange shape at the edges.
Avatar f tn I just got my tongue pierced 2 days ago and the tip of my tongue feels like it burning, and this morning i woke up with my gums hurting and where your lips attach to your gums on the inside of your mouth is killing me. I have my nose and my bellybutton pierced and they're fine. Is my body rejecting the piercing or am i allergic to it? or is it supposed to hurt this much?
