Common Questions and Answers about Tongue twisters vocabulary

tongue

Avatar m tn Today I am 19, and I have trouble speaking 100% and words/sentences end up being tongue twisters for me. It makes me unconfident when I want to ask a question knowing I probably wouldn't be able to say it right. It's like when I speak my tongue kind of trips itself, or better say that it gets "stiff". The sentences that I really have problems with saying usually include alliteration in them, or that.
1415711 tn?1286281354 My wife thinks I am out of my mind at this point. I am constantly checking the strength of my tongue and practicing tongue twisters to make sure I dont have any weakness or atrophy. I have no problems eating or drinking. But despite it all I still cannot shake this tense clumsy feeling in my tongue thats stemming from under my chin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn Please forgive me if i have a poor vocabulary. The patient who desires to find some help is a 45-year-old male. He has a squamous cell carcinoma of tongue. On the 7th of July, he underwent three surgeries, which are radical resection of tongue cancer, reparation of left forearm flap and a tracheotomy. The operation removed half of right tongue and took some part of left forearm to replace it. The operation removed glandular Rivini, salivary gland,Cervical lymph and so on.
Avatar f tn Wowza! Real tongue twisters! I have a Carson and a Dawson and often call them Darson in a fluster! If you like the rhythm of those names with the "y" spelling, than Dylan is real cute! You could choose Dawson and spell it, Dasyn. I believe this is a Native American spelling, but it does follow your theme!
Avatar f tn You can play games to promote the strength of those oral motor muscles---------- turn on music and make silly faces together and then freeze as you stop the music. Do tongue exercises-------- push tongue out and pull it in quickly, move it side to side, run it along the bottom lip. Up and down will come later as up is really hard for kids of your son's age.
Avatar f tn I've read up that by toughening up your nipples you can stand in the sun for about 5min every day so that the uv rays can penetrate your skin, and not through a window. I'll be 36weeks on Friday and will start doing that everyday before baba gets here. Don't use any chemicals as this won't help, try not to moisturise the nipples too much as it will soften it up and make sure to give your nipples enough ventilation.
11358238 tn?1430409963 Hi, I am RN and I specialize in cosmetic services. I am a LHR provider and it is very true that you can not laser while pregnant as there have never been any studies done on pregnant women and the effects of lasering while pregnant. However, once your bundle of joy is her you can start treatments back regardless of your breastfeeding status as it is not a contraindication.
Avatar n tn Several weeks ago I started noticing that I was spelling words incorrectly, having some difficulty writting on paper (a pause or delay before I start to write), and hitting the wrong keys on the key board. I have been complaining about vocabulary loss for several years, and feel that it has become worse, and my memory has become terrible, I have also had some subtle balance problems.
Avatar n tn My son is now 11 and was very hyper and impulsive when he was little. He also did not like change and did not transition well from one thing to another (he needed to know ahead of time, but not too far ahead of time, and it was still tough). I agree that it may likely be more a personality thing than anything else. I'd just like to add that you may want to have his hearing checked.
Avatar n tn Also not a radiologist, but it seems like you have lesions in at least two areas of the brain (peri-ventricular and sub-cortical -- that's where mine are located too). Also, not sure about the vocabulary, so not sure if "area of enhancement" means "enhancing lesion" -- but if it did, that would mean a lesion that was presently active. Do you have recent onset of a new symptom? The vocabulary is different from my MRI so I'm not sure.
1196859 tn?1266134938 Yes, I too get "tongue tied" and I can't think of a simple word. I am forgetful, and I can't speak as fast as I could before. Your not alone. Nice having you here.
Avatar f tn The child's vocabulary will progress overtime, by age three they are able to combine more words.
4763188 tn?1358868279 Sorry I can't be of more help. In fact I opened mainly because I didn't know what a fenulum is, how is it this word is in your vocabulary? Are you a medical person? May not be relevant, but my point may have something to do with the lack of responses. From what you describe I can only say, see a doctor.
187316 tn?1386356682 John received a parrot as an early Christmas gift. The parrot had a very bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. John in desperation tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to 'clean up' the bird's vocabulary.

Avatar f tn Four years ago When I was a teenager I was addicted to butane gas and I was a daily user for about 6 months.
Avatar m tn Right now, when I was trying to explain how my tongue might affect my speech, I was trying to explain how my tongue keeps my mouth almost-closed, and it took me a solid two minutes to type the word "almost-closed," which I still have no idea if it's a word or not. I feel like I have gaps in my brain where my basic communicative vocabulary used to be stored. So what can I do to improve my speech?
649848 tn?1534633700 Yeah, me old too, but it was fun to take that walk back to the time when things were simpler. I think the innocence dwindled with every new piece of technology, every change of our vocabulary (i e "when coke was a coke" and a "ho was hoe"... lol).
Avatar f tn It could be salt. Wash off and see if it comes back. Do you mind in the future erasing the phrase "Jap's eye" entirely from your vocabulary? It is just wrong on so many levels.
Avatar f tn I was in a class in school yesterday, I remember about half of what we did (homework corrections and vocabulary quiz) but the next day I came back and the teacher asked to "pull out the handout on the video we watched yesterday" but I didn't have the handout, and I didn't remember the video at all. I know I didn't just leave during class because I remember talking with a friend while leaving the classroom.
Avatar f tn last night I had a dream about an amusement park and twisters kept coming through as I was running with my kids to safety. I almost lost my youngest twice but wouldn't let go. Another was a huge tornado that we barely escaped from and I used my body to shield the kids even though I was big n preg and got all cut up.
427258 tn?1266445242 , and although his speech WAS delayed (he didnt speak any words until almost 2) he has exploded with a vocabulary! ive done a little bit of research and i do see the differences between the two and my son def. fits the AS diagnosis, but he is highly-functional and the OCD plays a role in that. thank you for your imput and pointing out the difference, so that others who may read this will know as well.
Avatar n tn I had broken #28(bottom right pre-molar, crack a huge piece off of it), several years ago from having my tongue pierced(STUPID!). I got the root canal done in ~2004. I didn't get the crown put on b/c I had ot move to PA and I neglected it. This last Sept, I started having pain on #29(molar behind this premolar). They gave me a root canal, and crowned them both. After they installed the crown, I am still having serious pain for it.
