ve asked the specific questions I have in my responses is that with speech disorders that are to do with issues controlling the actual tongue, they typical have consistent difficulty getting the tongue to correctly articulate words with the same or similar sounds.

I am studying phonetics and would like to know what effect removal of the epiglottis has on speech. Especially vowels and rhotics. Thank you.

My wife thinks I am out of my mind at this point. I am constantly checking the strength of my tongue and practicing tongue twisters to make sure I dont have any weakness or atrophy. I have no problems eating or drinking. But despite it all I still cannot shake this tense clumsy feeling in my tongue thats stemming from under my chin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PATMHALP, What helped me so much lately is a tongue scrapper. Clean the very back of your tongue after evetmeal, before you go to sleep and when you wake up in the morning if possible. Get in front of a mirror, stick your tongue way out and remove all the dead cells/bacteria from tongue. I also invested in a small water flosser made by water pik.Gets to hard to reach places around implants, crowns.

Do you have/use a tongue scrubber or tongue scraper? Bad smells come from bacteria on the tongue (the white stuff). Try Therabreath brand mouth wash, dentist recommended it to my fiance who was having similar issues. He started using a tongue gel and tongue scraper ans the mouthwash after brushing his teeth and it's helped temendously.
