Any moms on here had their baby that was tongue tied and had to get the frenulum cut?

I was breastfeeding till I found out she was tongue tied and was chomping down on my nipples. Anyways, I have been pumping in the meantime and giving her formula. We are going to get her tongue clipped tomorrow. Any mommas had the tongue clipped and went right back to breastfeeding or do you know of anyone it worked with??? Anything helps! My heart was so set on breastfeeding and it truly breaks my heart that her being tongue tied has seemingly ruined the chances.

My baby was born " Tongue Tied " which is where the piece were the bottom of the tongue and bottom of the mouth connect. He got it cut will it cause him to talk funny in the future?

I had tongue tie release surgery 2 weeks ago, but now it is still quite short, I can't touch the roof of my mouth when my mouth is opwn. I had unclear speech (I can't pronounce some letters very clear, espesially r sound) and the speech didn't changed. I had very poor shouders posture and forward head posture but now I don't. I think the surgery released me from upper body tension but I still have speech problems and the tongue is quite short.

Try getting a nipple shield. (fake nipple like mentioned above.) You can get them at any drug store. It is just a clear piece of plastic that you sit on your nipple. (it almost looks similar to a bottle nipple.) But it worked for me with both my daughters. The baby could also be gassy (depending on what you have eat.), tongue tied... It could be several things. Call your peds dr. if things don't improve. Good luck!

My son Ry arrived at 6:42am Monday morning, my 21st birthday!!!!! Best birthday present EVER!! Hes 7lbs 11Oz 20in long! He's absolutely the most amazing thing I've ever looked at/touched! doctor said i could take antibiotics anyway so i did before results were in.after that my legs were burnin woke me up got this white **** on back of tongue doctor said wasnt thrush just by scrapin tongue and lookin at it.now my joints are poppin and i have a bad case of hemroids.is this all tied to stressin or hiv related.

I'd rule out anything physical (like mouth formation problems, being tongue tied, teeth issues) and also have his hearing checked--hearing problems can cause speech issues, too. Then I'd see if speech therapy is a possibility. Can you have him evaluated--to see if there are any other issues with him? My son didn't speak clearly for quite a while (he spoke later than other kids his age)--then when he did start speaking, he couldn't say his "r's" and he had a lisp.

@Jacobmax88 can I ask you a question? My first son was also tongue tied and I couldn't breastfeed because he wouldn't latch, I was told it was geneticvbut I'm curious was any of your other babies tongue tied????

You can breastfeed as long as your milk is in. I'm sure you've seen shows making fun of women who still nurse when their child is 5 years old. As for the advice, I say just give it time and be patient. It may not come easily for you or your baby, but if you have the supply and your baby isn't terribly tongue tied then you shouldn't really have a problem. Also get nipple cream so your ladies don't crack and cause terrible pain.

I had a sced c section for the 5th but that wasnt gonn happen lol she was born 39 weeks 7lb 14oz breech and tongue tied (got it clipped yesterday) didnt even cry.

I had tried to google for information, some say it could be tongue tied, skin tag, or my bottom teeth have been rubbing it which causes friction. yesterday before the doc took him to do the circumcision, we had mentioned how a family member on both sides had been tongue tied, but he had been breast feeding amazingly so they didnt think he would be.. when they check it was all the way to the tip of his tongue so they went ahead and snipped it and he was back with in the hour and doing great. its a little after 8 am here and weve got about 9 hours till we get released!

First check his mouth anatomy. Is he tongue tied? Does his frenulum under his tongue go back too far? Did he make a lot of noises as an infant or was he quiet? The muscles have to to used to build them up to be able to talk. Blowing bubbles helps to build up these muscles and position the lips to be able to talk. We found this out after having a speech therapist from the school district come into our home.

The next day i feel tied on my neck n feel a bit swollen till now . Is my neck cause by that gum problems. idun really have a sore throat but some jaw pain. N i keep having ulcers n red spots on theedge of my tongue. I went to doc n they say no lymph nodes.

It wasnt that I was slurring but more like having a hard time starting a sentence or getting tongue tied with certain consonants. I went to an ENT and was cleared via endoscope. It was suggested by my GP that I started seeing a psychiatrist which I did. He has me on xanax which has taken care of the globus sensation. But now I have alot of tightness under my chin, like the base of my tongue area and I still have this odd feeling like I'm not talking right.

this is happened over a 2 week period. now he is getting tongue tied. it is all happening very quickly. first gp said stress and second wants a ct scan. any ideas what is wrong?

Thanks for the reply. I now understand why the doctors always seem to be tongue tied when I ask for a prescription for a tranquilizer after they tell me to try to avoid stress. I take it that zanax fits in the same catagory as valium?

You said he has a short tongue....are you sure he isn't tongue tied? It's not something they look for routinely in the hospital. You should ask your pediatrician to check that if you think it's possible. Sorry if you are taking this as if I know what's wrong, because I don't. Just a suggestion. And you can find the mother's milk tea at Target.
