ve been tested back in January and June for oral herpes, and both times came back negative. I keep getting what seems to be a canker sore on the side of my tongue, and it appears in the same spot. It's happened 3 times in the past 4 months. I'm afraid it's herpes, what do you think? Is it typical to see recurrent herpes IN the mouth/throat as opposed to the lips/face? Please help!
They start and take about 10-15 days to heal and typically occur in same areas, back of tongue and tip of tongue. My tongue also feels hot and burns. My dr said she was pretty sure it was herpes virus that caused my cold sore, so i guess spread to the tongue. I did a swab and it came back normal but my dr said thats bc the sores had been there for several days and the swab would need to be done in the first 48hrs. Problem is, in the first two days theres nothing really there.

Underside of my tongue and bottom of my mouth under my tongue are sore. No visible sore but it looks like the salivary glands are red.
Is it some viral thing or something else? Kind of has me worried. I've made an appointment with my regular doctor but wonder if I should be seeing a dentist instead.

s still probably nothing to be concerned about. Alcohol can trigger canker sores if these are that. It also could be another viral infection causing mouth sores too. Yes it could be oral herpes but until you are seen monday it'll be too late to get an accurate culture to find that out. Avoid acidic foods, sour foods and alcohol for the rest of the weekend and see if that helps.
Hi, getting herpes sores on the tongue is not common all for recurrent out breaks and to get one from kissing as a first time infection would not be possible really as if the other person has hsv oral it would be on his lips and the first time outbreak would be on the lips also as was the point of contact.
Also oral sex is a risk but with no lip sores at the time its really nothing to be concerned about.
The other night I was making out with this guy who I like, and I noticed that he had something that felt like a sore on his lip. Later on that night, I gave him oral sex... I have been eating pineapple and stone fruit and other Xmas fare non stop and think that might be the cause rather than the HepC. You are presenting with a few of the b symptoms but the mouth sores, swollen tongue and dots on the tongue does not sound like lymphoma. My guess is that you are suffering from some sort of infection.
The only way to know for sure if you have lymphoma is with a biopsy of a swollen node. You could request blood work to be done and have your WBC count and LDH levels checked. It's not a definitive test, but if they are looking into lymphoma it may be a good start.

I also see red spots on the tip of my tongue. I have been getting night sweats and feeling generally ill. I went to the doc and they told me it was just a viral infection and they did not test or swab my throat or mouth. I have a daughter and i have avoided kissing her since that encounter, but I fear somehow she may have gotten it too. She also has the red spots on her tongue and chapped lips that wont heal. she says she feels ok but I'm still very worried.
I very very rarely see herpes on the tongue, and with first infection, I would not expect to see that without sores somewhere else in the mouth area. I have no idea what the doctor meant by that comment, that doesn't even make sense to me. A culture doesn't do much for herpes on the tongue? A culture doesn't do any thing for herpes except diagnosis it, so this doesn't make sense to me.
