Tongue sores lesions

Common Questions and Answers about Tongue sores lesions

tongue

Avatar m tn ve been tested back in January and June for oral herpes, and both times came back negative. I keep getting what seems to be a canker sore on the side of my tongue, and it appears in the same spot. It's happened 3 times in the past 4 months. I'm afraid it's herpes, what do you think? Is it typical to see recurrent herpes IN the mouth/throat as opposed to the lips/face? Please help!
Avatar m tn Subsequently, I have had two severe outbreaks with sores all in my mouth, tongue, cheeks, and a few lesions in the genital area (first time for this ever). Severe enough that I could not eat for 3 days. Doctor suggested upping dose for valtrex from 1 g to 3 g for 7 days. I had blood panels done the only noticeable thing was a pretty low Vitamin D level (17) and high triglycerides (210). My question is: is this common?
Avatar m tn ve had painful sores on my tongue in usually the same spot since I was about 17. These sores are sensitive to the touch and usually heal in 3-5 days. They look kind of like a pimple (3mm) on the side of my tongue with a small abcess in the middle. So my question do you think I could be having an atypical HSV-1 outbreak & would these scabs be testable for HSV? I am currently in a relationship and having protected sex.
Avatar f tn I also had burning/ just weird sensations in my back, thighs, toes, and face. I then got lesions on my tongue! I went to a walk in clinic, was told it was thrush. I went to my family doctor, he said it wasn't thrush and could be herpes. He gave me Acyclovir for a week. It didn't help. Oh, I also had discharge in my eyes and my eye doctor said my ducts were blocked up and it could be an allergic reaction.
Avatar m tn Did the doctor say it could be burning tongue syndrome? Anyone can get mouth sores so you might be connecting some unrelated events to the tingling.
Avatar n tn If there weren't any sores, bumps or lesions, you are fine.
Avatar f tn About 2 weeks ago my husband noticed some spots on the side and top of his tongue. They seemed to have gone away then the one on top came back just a few days later pretty much in the same spot. Yesterday another one poped up on the border of his tongue. It seemed to get big fast. It looks like a bare spot with a white border but it not as red as the top spot. Could this be geographical tongue or something more serious like tongue cancer? He did visit the dentist and they feel it's GT.
Avatar n tn The following day she noticed what looked like canker sores in the roof of her mouth so she went to the dentist. The dentist ruled it out as canker sores and the tongue as nothing. When I looked at it, there were 5 or 6 sores in the roof of her mouth. Those healed in a couple of days and she has been fine now for a few days (Just after two weeks since the possible exposure). On to me: 4 days after she started with the burning tongue, mine did the EXACT same thing.
Avatar n tn He was getting over a recent outbreak (no active lesions - just minor discomfort) when we saw each other 13 days ago - and the discomfort left about four days into our time together. On the 13th day (yesterday) I got cold sores on my chin and my tongue tingles (minor discomfort). I have no white spots, blisters, etc. on my tongue - just on my chin. I have no discomfort or blisters on my genitals.
Avatar m tn Turns out to be geographic tongue, the recurring lesions are pink with yellowish to white borders and recur in different places on the the tongue. This is a harmless condition, but is very alarming to look at. Also there is no cure for this condition. I think I have been cursed.
Avatar m tn It all started with a severe outbreak of sores on his tongue, spastic movements, and repetitive sounds, etc. The first episode lasted almost a month, but docs said it was "just a phase." After this, we had week long episodes about every 2-3 months.
Avatar m tn I am 76 years of age. I have had various episodes of lesions on my tongue for about 15 years, many doctors have said it was either cold sores or canker and prescribed zovirax. I have been living with and having both oral and natural sex for 5 years with one sex partner, she never had a problem, we no longer live together. Prior to that time I lived with several women...no problem. Since February I have been living with my latest friend (which should be the last)..
Avatar m tn Though, I was wondering if anyone else has had sores appear on their tongue? Just last month, I was washing my hands and noticed I had three red areas on my tongue: two on the tip and one a little to the side. I was reading online that ulcerative colitis can cause sores to appear in your mouth and didn't know if this was a cause for the sores to appear. Now, I have one on the tip of my tongue that just appeared yesterday and today it has a white center.
Avatar m tn ve also have gotten small red and white sores in my mouth underneath my tongue and on my lips (total of three or four). Besides the coating and sores, I still have swollen lymph nodes as well as some skin on the chest right below the neck being red, no texture change or bumps/lesions yet. Swallowing is not painful and I don't have a sore throat or cough anymore. Potential exposure would have been a little more than three weeks ago. Can I get some opinions?
Avatar m tn But, now I have several small sores on my lips, gums, tongue and the sides of my mouth. They are white but do not look like canker sores. They look more like patches of dead skin. But they hurt like hell! I cannot eat or brush my teeth. What should I do? Would baking soda help? Any info would be appreciated. How can I get rid of these sores in my mouth??
Avatar n tn Thank you for this, and I would like to provide a follow-up. In summary, my symptoms, which have maintained themselves for one week, do not seem to be Herpes, at least as I have described them. Aside from being concerned because I've never felt these symptoms before, I have these remaining few questions really based on the below information, and I hope they are worthwhile for an answer! Here is what the CDC has published: Most people infected with HSV-2 are not aware of their infection.
Avatar n tn t had any visible sores/lesions, but I have had some itching and one place in particular that feels like a mild ant bite near the base of the penis (although there's no visible indication). What's concerned me is that I was diagnosed with ocular keratitis, which I've read can be caused by a viral infection such as herpes. Two questions in particular: (1) What are the odds of having acquired herpes if there are no visible sores?
Avatar m tn about 2 weeks after the possible exposure I got sores inside my mouth including on the tongue. Nothing on the outside of the mouth. Does that change the chances?
Avatar m tn t know when to go get tested I have read posts so I have to wait another 3 months I guess I had no fever the hospital never called me back no cold sores my tongue just cleared up today like no more weird feeling on the tip I never got ulcers on my tongue just on my soft palate my gums were irritated but I can't tell if it could have been because the morning I started feeling food was spicer than usual a couple hours later I used these crest whitening strips for the first time and they like b
Avatar m tn m really freaked about getting HSV1 1) I plan to get a blood test after 3 months, but I am very upset. When can I expect to get lesions / cold sores if I have contracted? Is there a time period after which I can assume I did not contract? I've read lots of conflicting info, some say symptoms in 5 days, some 12, some 21. 2) what percent of people contract HSV1 but never show any lesions? 3) Are lesions the primary indicator of HSV1?
Avatar f tn When I went for re evaluation on Wednesday Doctor noticed small lesions on my tongue. She sent me right to oral surgeon and told me to come back and see her on Monday march 28. Surgeon took X-ray and it looked fine. He told me he thought I had shingles and prescribed me prednisone for five days. In the next five days the pain in my face subsided and the sores on my tongue got worse.

Avatar n tn The cold sore issue is less clear – on one hand you say you have cold sores on your tongue but you also say you have not had visible lesions. Could you clarify please? As for prevention, there are 3 key elements. The first is to practice safe sex (condoms). It sounds like you do this. The second is to take daily antiviral therapy to prevent outbreaks, reduce asymptomatic shedding of the virus and to reduce transmission to uninfected partners – you are doing this a sell.
Avatar n tn And he has no visible sores on his tongue. Does the virus shed from sites other than the sore? Or would his herpes sore have to come in direct contact with me in order for it to be transmitted?
Avatar m tn Went to Dentist today that ordered a biopsy on white lesions ( which to me looks like a white film and patches on tongue) on cheeks and sides of tongue. The white film on tongue and cheeks does not slough off which the dentist said is better then having it scrape off and have redness underneath. About 2 months ago I performed oral sex on a male and I am also male. I believe I swallowed but know I did not do anything other then that.
Avatar n tn Hi, Since you have mentioned that the lesions on your tongue are quite painful, the only important lesion which I can think of is canker sores/aphthous ulcers. They commonly occur on the tongue or on the inside of the mouth. I don’t think there’s much to worry about as they usually resolve over a period of time and you need to seek an opinion from your health care practitioner only if they don’t seem to heal.
Avatar n tn It doesn't take much to irritate your tongue, and any type of mouth sores take time to heal. Get some milk-of-magnesia and coat this area of your tongue a couple of times a day with it, this will protect them from further irritation and make it easier to eat. Don't eat foods that may irritate them even more. Give them another week and if you feel they are no better, see your dentist. They look like ulcers to me, which can be caused by various virus', and heal on their own.
