My son is 9 years old and he has been complaining of pain in his mouth when I looked inside his mouth he has big white dots all over his tongue and both sides of his mouth/cheeks. Could someone tell me what could be wrong or should I take him to the doctor to be checked out. What could it be?
Hi:) If u are experiencing whitish, velvety lesions in the mouth and on the tongue and if underneath the whitish material, there is red tissue that bleeds easily, then u are suffering from thrush. To my knowledge it is not considered an std. It's caused by forms of a fungus called Candida. A small amount of this fungus lives in your mouth most of the time. It is usually kept in check by your immune system.
Also, the infection has spread to my gums and gums feel smooth to my tongue, are red, black, and white, and are also very painful. Also, two more canker sores have appeared in the last 48 hours. I have an appointment to see my PCM at the beginning of next week. Is there anyway you could shed some light on to what is happening in my mouth?
P.S. I should add that my wife does get cold cores, which I understand are a strand of herpes? Perhaps that could be related?

My situation: I have geographic tongue (in short: red, sometimes painful spots caused by "shedding," on the day in question I had one "sore" a bit bigged than a pea), and I am not sure how serious this condition is to strength of my tongue tissue's ability to keep viruses out of the blood stream. also I bite my tongue/cheek a lot sometimes causing them to bleed (my tongue had been bleeding earlier on the day in question).
The other night I was making out with this guy who I like, and I noticed that he had something that felt like a sore on his lip. Later on that night, I gave him oral sex... The next morning I woke up and found that I had a sore on each side of my tongue (they rub against my bottom molars). They hurt and look a little bit like canker sores, but I've never gotten a canker sore on my tongue, so I'm trying to find out if it's something I should be worried about...
Another day passed and white papules appeared inside my cheek touching the top row of my teeth in the back. The tip of my tongue also felt burnt, even though I hadn't drank or ate anything hot enough to burn it. I stopped using the salt water and the burnt tongue feeling went away after 4 days and the sores and papules have gotten smaller, but are still present. Is there any way this could be syphilis or any other kind of STD? Should I get retested for syphilis?
So I have had a really bad throat, tonsillitis and tonsil stones all the time since I got back from volunteering in a hospital in Africa. This morning I woke up with a really severe sore throat, hoarse voice and just generally feverish. This evening I asked someone to check the redness of my throat, and when she did, she noticed something she described as a "second tongue". I googled it (sorry) and images of epiglotitus came up that looked exactly like mine.
Subsequently, I have had two severe outbreaks with sores all in my mouth, tongue, cheeks, and a few lesions in the genital area (first time for this ever). Severe enough that I could not eat for 3 days. Doctor suggested upping dose for valtrex from 1 g to 3 g for 7 days. I had blood panels done the only noticeable thing was a pretty low Vitamin D level (17) and high triglycerides (210). My question is: is this common?
re kissing and i put my finger in her vagina then followed by putting it in my mouth. Today i have woken up with a cut on my tongue (really similar to if i have bit my tongue in the night) and im worried that ive got oral herpes. (I was ill with a cough 1 week before meeting her and do still feel abit illish) my main concern is the cut on my tongue. Have i just bit my tongue in the night or have i now got herpes? I dont have any other sores on my lips or anything only a cut on my tongue.
Katester- I had sores in my mouth & tongue during tx. My Dr prescribed stalin, it worked. It would clear it up within a couple of days. Avoid eating mushrooms. they're a fungus & it will make it worse.

When I looked at it, there were 5 or 6 sores in the roof of her mouth. Those healed in a couple of days and she has been fine now for a few days (Just after two weeks since the possible exposure).
On to me: 4 days after she started with the burning tongue, mine did the EXACT same thing. It started as 2 painfully swollen taste buds and quickly moved to a burning tongue. Icewater and mouthwash helped I also had something in the roof of my mouth.
ve been tested back in January and June for oral herpes, and both times came back negative. I keep getting what seems to be a canker sore on the side of my tongue, and it appears in the same spot. It's happened 3 times in the past 4 months. I'm afraid it's herpes, what do you think? Is it typical to see recurrent herpes IN the mouth/throat as opposed to the lips/face? Please help!
When she is suffering, she scratches her tongue using her teeth which then creates white sores on her tongue. Nothing helps and no one has been able to diagnose the problem. My husband and I are heartbroken. We don't know how to help her. She often says she wishes someone would just remove her tongue.

Basically, I am not sure if I have herpes or not. It started with showing a few "sores" at the tip of my tongue. Over the course of three months, the third time the sores showed up on my tongue, my gums got swollen as well as my tongue. That same day near bedtime, my eyes would BURN whenever they would get wet and were inflammed as well.
