Two weeks ago I french kissed with another guy for about 3-4 min. At the time I had a sinus infection and a few canker sores on my tongue. He told me he was hiv neg but I don't know him. Since then I've had even more canker sores on my tongue. Since I had the open sores in my mouth what are my hiv risks from this exposure (assuming he was hiv +)? Some sites say there is a risk. Do I need to do testing if this is my only possible exposure in the past 3-4 months?

6 days later I noticed sores on my tongue and lower lip. I ran to the clinic to have it checked and they passed it off as oral sores (geographic tongue) which come and go to this day. They also ran all STD's including HIV (elisa) which came back negative.
Kissing is not a risk for std and hiv. If your dating this girl why not get tested together. HIV is transmitted 1. Unprotected vaginal/anal sex 2. Sharing injection in drug use. 3. Mother to child.

Hi, HIV is remote possibility. In geographic tongue, which is again benign condition, tongue is covered with small protrusions called papillae, red patches on the surface of the tongue bordered by grayish white areas. It is again a familial disorder but fissures are not seen.
Please relax, don't think of HIV, as HIV presentations are associated with many other type of symptoms like recurrent mouth ulcers, herpes attacks, fever, diarrhoea, seborrheic dermatitis etc.

By Sept 27th I started feeling a slight burning sensation on my tongue. Sept 29th I went to the doc and got a full STD panel including hiv, also ANA and lyme. The ANA was positive 1:40 speckled and positive for Ehrlichiosis(tick bacteria) All STD test were negative. Didn't mention my tongue to the doc at that point because the pain was so slight. Oct 3-7 my tongue burning was getting worse and the joint pain was going away and on Oct 8th extreme fatigue was present.
So i have these sores that keep popping up on my tongue. Sometimes it's one or two or three. within 2-3 days they're gone. Then out of the blue, maybe 4 days later, BOOM there's another one. They look like little cuts. They're just red patches that are sunk in. They hurt a little bit, especially when I gargle with mouthwash. Also, I did just buy a new tooth brush about a week ago, but when I brush my teeth my whole mouth is just gushing with blood.
Explore this site and you will see that we have NEVER suggested that symptoms be used to gauge the likelihood of HIV. The symptoms of early HIV infection are totally non-specific. Your yellow tongue and flu-like illness are not related to HIV. If the color of your tongue worries you, see a dermatologist (although I would point out that many medications can turn one's tongue yellow for a while. If the discoloration is fading, I would not worry about that either).
