Avatar n tn experiencing off and on seemingly stabbing pain on right side of my tongue with a sore for more than a month now. What is the proper action to do? According to my dentist it was not a result grinding teeth or whatsoever, what do you think will it be?
Avatar n tn I too discovered a sore on the side of my tongue on Monday. ( today is Wednesday ) it is large and really red irritated and it looks black and blue around the edge. There is also one spot that is black and blue on the end of my tongue. I do have a bad tooth or so on that side that need attention and I had the flu over the past weekend and was vomiting quite forcefully. Have you ever heard of such a thing? I am really scared right now.
Avatar m tn Today ive noticed two raised small bump on either side right at the back of my tongue. They are far back about 3 inches from the tip. They dont hurt. Could this be syphilis or would the sore appear on the tip, where i was giving the oral from? Please can you advise.
Avatar m tn Hello everyone. After some opinions. I have a dentist appointment in 5 days time. I've had suspected Labryinthitus for about 5 weeks, which has given me mild vertigo and Tinnitus. Last week I've had a sick bug and what now feels like a sore throat; all three of my children have had the sick bug and cold/sort throat. I still have the sore throat and generally feeling unwell at the moment...it feels like a cold/flu.
Avatar n tn The only other thing I can think of, but of course have your Dr take a look @ them, is maybe @ night you are gnawing on the tongue w/o realizing it. I had a recurring sore on my tongue that my dentist actually noticed but in my case it was from moving my tongue against a sharp tooth at night and now is gone .. but mine was more canker sore than what you describe.
Avatar n tn I thought that is was related to a food allergy but I am not so sure at this point, mine only happens on the left side of my tongue. One dr. did comment on the whiteness surrounding the red patches, so perhaps my red spots do start with the white dry color as well and have not noticed that as part of the process. One thing that strikes me is that I have been taking a drug that is designed for epilepsy but I take it for anxiety. Perhaps this may be a drug reaction?
620048 tn?1358018235 Has your dentist ever looked at your tongue? I have a geographic tongue and also, I have had a very sore tongue due to low........ (Well, phooey!!!!!!! I can't remember the name of it) Pregnant women need it so they don't have a baby with spina bifida. I'm sorry, I just can't remember things. You might want to get it checked.
Avatar m tn two on the tip and one a little to the side. I was reading online that ulcerative colitis can cause sores to appear in your mouth and didn't know if this was a cause for the sores to appear. Now, I have one on the tip of my tongue that just appeared yesterday and today it has a white center. I'm kinda freaking out if it would just a regular ulcer caused by the colitis or if it is something worse like herpes.
Avatar m tn Initially 3 weeks before, i had it on the left side of the tongue almost near the tip of the tongue. After two three days i had it on the right side exactly as the same spot of the first one, but on the right. After that i had a small sore on the inner part of the tongue, towards the throat almost at the center. It repeated two three times and again today in the evening I've one on the right side of the tongue, but on the different position than the last time.
Avatar m tn i don't know. if you are concerned about herpes you should post this question and be most specific, but post the question in the herpes form.
Avatar n tn On top of that, I have had four consecutive huge and painful canker sores in the past month and a half, one of which I still have, and one of my lymph glands under my jaw is swollen (incidentally, the right side, and it is my right "flap" which is swollen). So it could possibly be a canker sore on the bottom of this flap, but it just seems like a weird location for one. And the chronic canker sore issue could also be a related problem... Should I see a doctor about this?
Avatar f tn Is anyone else having any issues with their mouth? My tongue is sore and it appears to have tiny sores on the sides of it. I also have a metallic numb feeling\taste. I know it sounds weird but its the best description I can give. It is starting to hurt at times when I am eating.
Avatar n tn The area in question is on the very back of tongue just as it starts to go down into the throat and is located on the very side of the tongue. If I stick out my tongue all the way and to the left, I can see what looks like foliate papillae (sp) that are enlarged and red. The opposite side of my tongue (where there is no pain) does not look the same, in that there is no swelling or redness.
Avatar m tn I started out with what looked like a canker sore on the side of my tongue, very painful. It went away and then one showed up on the back of the roof of my mouth on the same side. I had started to use Orajel on it to stop the pain. A day or two later I noticed more red spots showing up on the roof of my mouth, although they never turned white like a typical canker. Now the tip of my tongue is sore, no visible canker. Underside of my tongue and bottom of my mouth under my tongue are sore.
Avatar n tn Hi, last night I began having a strange type of pain under my tongue on the right side at the base of the mouth - the pain feels similar to a sore throat, but my throat isn't sore. I don't have a fever or swollen lymph glands. Also the pain hasn't gotten worse. I can only feel the pain if I move the tongue up or if I swallow a large amount of food. My throat doesn't have any swelling or redness or whiteness, my voice is still the same, ears are fine and gums are fine.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I'm a 23 year old female and I've had a very painful yellow sore on the left side of my tongue, slightly towards the back. It's located right on the side - not on the top or bottom side of my tongue. The sore itself isn't huge (maybe less than half the size of a pencil eraser), but the area it is on is swollen enough that it hurts to talk or just move my tongue in general.
Avatar m tn Immediately after taking them, I felt good and a lot of the troubles I have been having with my mouth(white spots on tongue, sore throat) disappeared. Then, on the fourth day, it all returned with a vengeance. Sore throat, dry cough, white coated tongue, and since then has only gotten worse. I stopped the Zantac after about 12 days and on that day my neck started to ache like crazy. The day after I was in pain and had a bad sore throat, still dry coughing. Is this a side effect of the Zantac?
1644331 tn?1372333656 ) with exception to having a sinus infection and a swollen under jaw lymph node on my right side (again i know symptoms arent going to determine if i have hiv or not) I did test twice now for hiv once at 21 days and once at 35 I have an appt for an 8 week and will be making a 12 week appt. Thank you in advance for any advice. Oh and lastly...Somewhat offtopic but are issues with the tongue a dentists domain or would it be a GP?
Avatar m tn t see this bump but i can feel it and it seems like its where the tongue connects to the back side of my mouth near the tonsil on the right side of my mouth. It feels like something is stuck under/behind my tongue but its the bump. I also have a canker sore that I can see on my right tonsil. I'm not sure if the bump and canker sore on my tonsil are related or not. I also started getting an earache in my right ear about 2 days ago. The right side of my jaw has a slight pain too.
Avatar m tn Hello, I just wanted to give you an update on my condition, turns out you were right and it is geographic tongue. thank you for your help!
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 19yr old female and have recently noticed whilst inspecting my mouth that I have a yellow part that is attached to the far side of my tongue actually on the side of it. It is NOT painful and I don't know how long I have had it on my tongue as I can not even feel that it is there. I brush my teeth everyday and I do not smoke nor do I drink. However I have tried to look what it is online and some searches have indicated it that it could be cancer.

469423 tn?1207509695 This is so overwhemingly common - yet no doctor will put this puzzle together - at least in my luck. After digging for 5 years - I strongly believe this is a side effect of thyroid medications. I lean towards this bieng an imbalance on PH levels within the body with some individuals. HAve you had any discomfort within the tongue itself? Burning - swolleness of anything you can describe? Do you notice dry throat and thirst? Did you undergo RAI treatment after the TT?
