Avatar f tn Voluntary muscles are the ones which are under our voluntary control and they are also called as skeletal muscles as they are attached to our skeleton. Amongst them, the strongest muscles are the jaw muscles which are medically known as masseters. Amongst the involuntary muscles, which are not under our voluntary control, the strongest muscle is of course the heart muscle. I sincerely hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind regards.

Avatar n tn I have been as to what I call muscle fluttering, no pain, just excessive fluttering especially in feet, both big toes almost constantly move. It started in the feet and radiated up to the calves, then on up to thigh, butt, back, shoulders. but the feet and calves are the worst. the skin of my hands and forearms and feet and upper front of thighs have burning sensation at times, always at night wakes me up. Once i get up the burning seems to lessen or go away.
486038 tn?1300063367 What's this? My muscles that control my face/jaw/speech are funky! So, when I had my flare two weeks ago I noticed that when I would speak every once in a while my jaw would wobble or jerk while I was speaking. I ALSO realized that it was a lot worse when I was singing. Today, I was in front of our church with the worship band, and when I started to sing my jaw just flipped out! So, have you ever had the chills and your jaw shook really bad and your teeth clattered?
987762 tn?1671273328 Whats odd is the lack of my usual fat and muscle on/in my thighs, if i make the thigh muscles tense to show their definition (slight squat stance shows it easily) what i see is a lot of what i think might be the tendon and nothing much else. Think of how the collar bone looks when you scrunch up your shoulders, collar bone sticks on top and covered by the skin, with the hollow underneath, well thats what my legs look like.
Avatar f tn The signs progressed to almost all leg muscles, shoulder, arm and hand muscles and had muscles twitches all over my body even my abdominal muscles and back muscles. Saw my internal medicine doctor who found no muscle weakness or Neuro signs. This was about after 2 weeks from initial signs. He ran full blood Chem., CBC, ANA, rheumatoid factor, sed rate, lyme titer, thyroid panel and electrolytes. All came back normal or negative. He put me on Aleve and muscle relaxors which did not help.

Avatar f tn Most likely cause of this twitching with weakness/atrophy of muscle can be when the nerve supplying to muscles is not functioning properly due to any neurological disorder. If you suffer continuous weakness and notice reduced strength of muscle bulk in areas, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here. Hope this information proves helpful to you.

Avatar f tn In the past 3 or 4 months though, I have been suffering from terrible and constant muscle spasms and twitching all over my body. In my legs, arms, hands, mouth, throat, and tongue. My muscles are extremely stiff and fatigued all over, and it has made it very difficult for me to function on a daily basis. A neurologist gave me flexeril to take, but it really has not had that much effect. I have researched neuromyotonia and Isaacs, and it seems that this is what I have, but I cannot be certain.

Avatar m tn t think that it looked abnormal so they did perform a EMG where the tongue muscle connects to under my chin and it turned out ok. They also performed the EMG test on the back of my neck and my left arm as well as a nerve conduction study. They did this all because I had been having some consistent twitching, but since it all turned out ok, I figure it was just anxiety. I was surprised how quickly they could decide that a muscle was "good" with the EMG.
Avatar f tn For the past two months I have been experiencing tight jaw muscles and three times have turned my head while smiling and my muscles have spasmed. I have been to the emergency room once due to the left side of my tongue going numb. I was told it was probably a result of my wisdom tooth that was infected and I was having removed two days later. I had the tooth removed a month ago and the only symptom that has gone away is the numb tongue.
987762 tn?1671273328 Hi guys and dolls, I've been having a good time lately, energy up so i've been doing some spring gardening. My muscles are not happy at all, pain and stiffness is a bother but not so bad. Though a strange thing happened last night during dinner, i have only been putting small bits of food in my mouth because its hard to chew when my muscles are playing up.
Avatar f tn the other symptom that makes me worry is the twitching in my muscles, in my tongue and pain in my back and arms. I had many appointments with many doctors. I had blood tests, MRI of brain and spinal cord, EKG and all are normal. My vitamins level are too. I am worry if it is AlS with these respiratory and weakness problems but my doctor don't even hear it. He told me that i shouldn't have an EMG because he doesn't see any atrophy.
Avatar n tn He is unable to talk now, and is twitching more all over - near the end. They gave him Adavan? to relax the muscles, along with morphine under the tongue to relax the heart walls. My question is - is the twitching due to lack of potassium or lack of oxygen?
