How long does it take for that nasty taste in your mouth to leave during pregnancy?

Thanks Teak, I appreciate your response. I also have a fissured tongue. Which is a bunch of flds in the tongue. Have you ever heard of this with regard to HIV transmittion?

A friend of mine has pink sores at the back of her tongue just on the sides at the back they are small in size and pink in color, they are not painful. In the morning she sometimes has a sore throat. What could it be? Very worried for her.

My situation: I have geographic tongue (in short: red, sometimes painful spots caused by "shedding," on the day in question I had one "sore" a bit bigged than a pea), and I am not sure how serious this condition is to strength of my tongue tissue's ability to keep viruses out of the blood stream. also I bite my tongue/cheek a lot sometimes causing them to bleed (my tongue had been bleeding earlier on the day in question).

I would always get this awful metal taste in my mouth but mine is accompanied by a burning tongue and roof of my mouth and my throat goes very dry. I feel constantly like I have to drink something to ease it as it gets so bad it tingles and numbs. I have gone to several drs and they all say I have a good saliva output so it's not that...it has come down to something to do with the nerve that supplies to the toungue, maybe some damage.

Recently i have developed a infection to the left side of the base of my tongue.I look like small bums and it burns. I think it is inflamed. Could this infection cause the taste in my mouth? White patches that rub off leaving a red and/or sore area is most consistent with an oral fungal infection. This can be confirmed by a simple scraping in the doctors office. Often times a presumptive diagnosis will be made based on clinical exam and topical antifungal medications may be prescribed. A feeling of dry mouth is also consistent with this diagnosis. I strongly urge you to stop "self treating" by scraping the lesions in your mouth and sleeping with candy.

t followed up with the recent symptoms in which ive had. To get sores in the mouth would that only happen with an initial outbreak? Sorry for the second posting, not sure how to just bump the message up.

ve been to THREE walk in clinics and 2 dentists, all have said that its not hairy tongue, but what in gods name else could it be? Needless to say, when one looks up the causes of "hairy tongue" theres some pretty scary results. I guess my question is - what are these things on my tongue, and could they be caused by the brushing, the mouth breathing, or something more serious?

it could be due to a nose bleed, biting your cheek during sleep, or something more serious like an ulcer. you should make an appointment to see your doctor if you can rule out a cut in your mouth.

I severely doubt you have genital warts in your mouth unless you are suffering from something like advanced HIV disease/cancer/another immune suppressing condition. Genital warts in the mouth are HIGHLY rare and usually only occur in sickly individuals who have very low immunity. Some bumps in the mouth are normal, our mouths are not supposed to be entirely smooth. I would see a doctor to put your mind at ease.

I have noticed that there is one red bump on my tongue now (looks like a taste bud that may be just a slight bit inflamed or irritated, probalby due to being burnt) and it seems that when I touch that part of my tongue the taste is stronger. It is also stronger on that side of the tongue/mouth in general, so I am thinking it has something to do with that little *******! Maybe the salt taste is due to some secretions from the sore or temporary damage to the taste bud itself, not sure.

I received oral sex from a women about 7 weeks ago and never had an outbreak but she was a highly risky person because I heard she's been around a lot and made a mistake but today I received a few sores on my tongue is this from that incident and also if it is should I get tested of am I in the clear from not hVibg an outbreak. I've had yellow coating on tongue and yellow roof of mouth since December. I think I'm somewhat allergic to the meds or something, I dunno. Just keep on truckin', I guess.

What causes you to have a soapy, kind of perfume taste in your mouth? It is driving me crazy. Plus, my tongue has been getting sore and swelling. It will turn beet red and get very thick. It is very irritating.

I get a horrible metalic taste in my mouth; as if I can feel and taste the fillings in my teeth. I also get a strange feeling in my throat and feel the need to cough/clear my throat. My tongue also feels funny. The longer I hold/use the phone, the worse it gets. If I put the phone away, the taste/feeling lingers for a few minutes and then goes away. I cleaned the phone with alcohol; but didn't make a difference. I normally hold the phone with my left hand to my left ear.

Another day passed and white papules appeared inside my cheek touching the top row of my teeth in the back. The tip of my tongue also felt burnt, even though I hadn't drank or ate anything hot enough to burn it. I stopped using the salt water and the burnt tongue feeling went away after 4 days and the sores and papules have gotten smaller, but are still present. Is there any way this could be syphilis or any other kind of STD? Should I get retested for syphilis?

Thanks for your input! My vote is thinking it's MS it comes and goes. I'm having fatigue yesterday afternoon and today. I slept 16 hours last night and today I could still sleep. Ugh! I wish my body would just behave! Hehehe On the opposing view..,if it was something else wouldn't it just be a solid tingling that doesn't go away?

**This was posted in the Dental section as well.** Don't know if I'm posting in the correct section but the problem is in my mouth. Every morning when I wake up, I have this Brown gunk that's in my mouth. It's on my tongue, the roof of my mouth, on my teeth and in the back of my throat. If I drool during the night, it leaves a brown patch on my pillow. It's gross!

t affect me in any way other than they are there. I can push on them with my tongue, and it feels like my mouth is making like a little popping sound when I do. It's not painful to the tongue at all, and a little painful if I push in with my finger. I don't smoke or drink, and I'm hoping this isn't some type of cancer. I'm really worried about it, and maybe its jsut there from stress.
