Common Questions and Answers about Tongue exercises to prevent snoring

tongue

Avatar m tn I wake up every night, sometimes half a dozen times with a parched mouth, throat, tongue, roof, even high up on my gums. First I tried to increase saliva, although I have plenty during the day, by drinking more, using an alcohol free mouth wash, chewing gum, artifical saliva, but I don't think saliva shortage is the problem. Whilst my wife tells me I'm a quiet sleeper, she says my mouth is wide open when I'm asleep, even though my nose is clear.
Avatar m tn And a sleep test would show snoring, but then they want you to put a mask on your face and all this involved jazz. But anyhow, the website I gave at the top should guide you on getting something to take to make those legs stop doing their thing. I have RLS, a mild opiate is the only thing that would stop mine, been on the same dose long time. Others just take a little tranq at bedtime and do well. Snoring, that's another story.

Avatar f tn In fact there is a sleep apnea team here in Sydney Australia whom I have an an appointment with next year who use a mouth splint to place the jaw and tongue away from the throat to help patients. The only radiographic change was that my neck has lost some lordosis. Since October 2007 I have ringing in my left ear, my problem side and again seen the neurologist to be told everything checked out fine. Have had MRI's and numerous neck X-rays, TMJ x-rays and consulted 2 ENT's .

Avatar m tn Two sleep studies have confirmed sleep apnea. My wife and I seldom wake up in the same room together due to the snoring. I tried several CPAP machines and half a dozen masks but was unable to tolerate them. Due to sinus congestion, I am a mouth breather and simply could not keep a mask on through the night. Recently visited a doc who does the pillar procedure. He saw the size of my uvula and suggested a uvulectomy along with the pillar procedure.

431143 tn?1214479427 Do take care of any allergies, regular exercise, changing sleep position to side instead of sleeping supine, need to avoid smoking, alcohol and sleeping pills. Snoring can also be controlled with some devices. If your wife is having a severe snoring, a corrective surgery can also be considered depending on cause. I do understand how frustrating it will be for you if not your wife to have a normal sleep at night.

Avatar m tn I have been told by my boyfriend that I cut down a forest in my sleep (snoring) and I have offered over the last year to see a Doctor. He told me that its not that big of a deal. Than I started with night sweats and brushed it off as PreMenopause (my Mom hit Menopause at a young age). I awake 2-3 time to urinate a night now, and have been told my snoring has increased (to the point I find myself sleeping alone in the bed).
7758733 tn?1402589420 Stitches were the worst part of labor and pregnancy combined, I know they say there are exercises or techniques to help prevent tears. Please tell me how! I ripped with my son 15 months ago and it will still hurt after sex so I feel more than likely to rip this time around. Which blows so I want to prepare.

Avatar f tn It does sound like sleep apnea to me and I would suggest you make an appointment to see a sleep doctor to have a sleep study done. I believe you will end up having to use a CPAP machine so you can finally get a good nights sleep. I hope you have the study done so you can get to feeling back to normal.
Avatar m tn Hi, your problems with breathing are more likely to be related to snoring. Snoring by itself indicates narrowed air passages. It could also indicate obstructive sleep apnea, diagnosed by a sleep test and treated by CPAP. For snoring you should avoid taking alcohol and try to sleep on your side as this keeps the airways patent. If any nasal blocks try to keep them patent with OTC nasal decongestants. Aim for optimum weight with exercises or long walks.
Avatar f tn Tongue or teeth sucking has become a problem to me for the past ten years. I have the feeling it is changing the shape of my face. What can I do?
Avatar f tn I woke up this morning with a horrible sore throat. When I looked in the mirror, my uvula was 3 times it normal size & laying on my tongue, red with a bit of white spots, & tongue a bit swollen too. I asked my husband if I was snoring & he didn't remember hearing me snore. I called my obgyn for advice since I'm 36 weeks & they want me to go get a strep test to be on the safe side. I don't have tonsils so it's not tonsillitis. Had anybody else experienced this?

Avatar f tn Mamapete3, for medical advise you MUST go to a doctor. Self diagnosis and medication is rarely a good idea. But, here are a few things that might help. First - get tested for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). It's a potentially fatal sleep disorder and only a sleep specialist can determine if your husband has it. Treatment can include using a CPAP machine, which isn't a lot of fun but it can save a life. My cousin is an ENT doctor who has a specialty practice in sleep disorders.
Avatar f tn Hello, If I was you I would go to a Physio and they will probably give you some stretches to ease the pain as well as strengthening exercises to strengthen your back. Keep doing these even when you feel better!!! I get sore when I sit too long, would be hard to move around when your at school though. Maybe ask to go to the toilet so you can move around! If it was an ongoing problem I would get an M R I because sometimes an x ray doesn't help! Hope you feel better soon!
