Yesterday I noticed what seems to be a lump(swelling) on the right lateral side of the tongue, very deep inside(right where the portion of the tongue that you can move ends). The thing is composed of 3-4 little things(folliate papillae?). It is of the same colour as is the tongue on the lateral and you can easy move it around and even separate the 3-4 components. My question is: does this resemble tongue cancer in any way, or it could be foliate papillitis:inflamation of the foliate papillae.

There is the possibility of tongue cancer. My uncle had this and they removed the tumor from his tongue, But that is worst case scenario. When is your biopsy?

d have it checked for sure asap. Oral cancer quite often first presents itself on the lateral (side) tongue so you want to rule this out. It may be something as harmless as a canker sore though so don't worry.

I recently developed some lateral tongue changes near the posterior visual edge. The changes are just in front of the lingual tonsils and may even be lingual tonsils Im just not sure. m a 31 year old male and about 5 months ago I noticed 2 bump on the side at the very back of my tongue which can only been seen if I stick it out really far, I went to the doctors because I also had a whiteish or yellow patch on the top of my tongue which they thought was due to gerd (acid reflux) they also mentioned mild thrush and put my on Medican for both (the nystatin did nothing for oral thrush) so they concluded it was acid reflux.

The left side is, for the lack of words, thicker than the right. The right lateral of my tongue is fairly thin. When I wake up, they seem to thicken, but during the day they are fairly thinner. What is this? I've read it can be OHL, but I tested HIV- .

I have a small white ring on the left lateral area of my tongue.
