My 2 1/2 year old daughter recently began to develop a rash around her mouth. It is concentrated from just under her bottom lip and down onto her chin. This rash does not seem to cause her any discomfort and does not itch. The funny thing is that the rash will appear, almost out of nowhere, last for a day or 2, then vanish! It may be gone for a few days or so, then it reappears just as quickly as it came! This rash first presented itself about 2 or 3 months ago...
They dont really look like anything I have ever noticed with my cold sores. It does resemble a pimpley heat rash which you indicated generally is not around the mouth area. . . so i am concerned that she may have infact contracted the cold sore virus from me. How long after the intial possible transmission could you see symptoms? It has been about 7 days. I am feeling very guilty about this and dont know what to do.
The spots are mainly on his underarm, back, and shoulders. But now a few of them have showed up inside his mouth (cheek) and on his face. Sometimes they are clustered together and sometimes it is just a spot here and there. He had 2 rounds of bloodwork that came back normal. He did have a virus about 2 weeks ago (no fever, just a viral respitory infection). They also checked him for strep too that was negative.
I have come accross some stuff but nothing to helpfull. If anyone knows anything that would cause a toddler to get blisters on the bottom of his foot could you please help! My fiance is so hurt and upset by these allogations, if there is anyone out there that could help us it would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks to all!
My 19 month old son has come out in a big rash all over the right hand side of his tummy and chest and on the inside of his right arm. He was awake lots in the night crying and was sick earlier on today too. Does anyone have any idea as to what it could be as i am worried.
Ribavirin can cause you to have an allergic reaction that might show up as a rash on your skin. It can also show up as an irritation in your mouth and throat. If you normally get mouth ulcers, they may get worse while you are on treatment.
Quick Tips:
Eat soft or pureed foods. Baby foods or toddler foods may be good substitutes.
Drink nectars instead of juices.
Drink instant breakfast formulas or milkshakes instead of eating solid food.
Use a straw.
Have you ruled out heat rash??? I don't know how itchy it is but heat rash involves blocked sweat glands and it can definately form into a raised rash. Another possibility is discoid eczema. Unexplained dermatitis is a real thing as well. I have 'something' going on with one of my fingers. It will flair up into an itchy, very small raised rash, and then I scratch and the skin gets shiny and it peals. It does this a couple of times a year and is ONLY on my pinkie. ?????

He took one look and knew it was a type of yeast infection - basically, it starts as slight diaper rash but develops into a larger rash that doesn't respond to typical treatment. She was prescribed econozole - however, many actually get relief from over-the-counter topical creams (apply to the skin where the rash is) for yeast infection. Perhaps your daughter's doctor, pharmacist, or nurse could advise you over the phone if it's worth trying.
these same things happen as delayed reactions such as a skin rash and can happen anyplace and not just around the mouth with the rash. What happens to the skin in the test can happen anyplace in a delayed manner (up to a few hrs to days later). Whereas a true RAST + bloodtest will show something more immediate reaction and usually this is replicated in way of immediate swelling and potentially life threatening reactions. So some can be RAST negative but positive via skin tests.

it is less common than other forms of herpes simplex infections but not unheard of for toddlers to transmit their own oral herpes infections to their fingers due to thumb sucking and hands in mouth. hopefully recurrences will be few and far between but keep acyclovir handy to start at the first sign of a recurrence!
you also can pick up domeboro's tablets at the pharmacy ( sometimes you have to ask for them - hard to find on the shelves ).
