Common Questions and Answers about Toddler rash food allergy

rash

Avatar f tn An itchy rash behind his ears, a rash around his eyes and on his face, a rash on his neck and hive like rash on his belly. The rash took a few days to subside. We are in the process of having him tested for allergies.
976589 tn?1255609465 I have a dry patch of skin on my left arm. I think I have a food allergy, but not sure. I've been unable to pinpoint exactly which foods cause a more severe rash. Could this be eczema?
Avatar f tn He took one look and knew it was a type of yeast infection - basically, it starts as slight diaper rash but develops into a larger rash that doesn't respond to typical treatment. She was prescribed econozole - however, many actually get relief from over-the-counter topical creams (apply to the skin where the rash is) for yeast infection. Perhaps your daughter's doctor, pharmacist, or nurse could advise you over the phone if it's worth trying.
Avatar n tn Let me do a bit of research to see what family this fruit is in .. I am not familiar with it .BUT ANY FOOD can cause an allergy and this sounds like an allergic reaction for which, yes, ears can become red and swollen and the rash, too .. ea. intro of the same food may bring worse symptoms. Definitely tell your Dr and let me see about what this fruit is .. I have never heard of it.
4413671 tn?1354204833 The runny nose maybe an allergy, I would have him checked out by the doctor the rash may be coming from the runny nose having an effect on his skin and making it sore ..
Avatar n tn Last week I took her to a different allergiest for a second opinion. He said that he does not think it is food allergies due to the location of the rash appearing by her bottom and how it appears 1-3 hours after she eats the suspected foods. He said it should appear almost immediately closer to her mouth or all over at once. He also felt that the list of foods were VERY rare to have such a reaction. He wants me to have the blood allergy test done. What is your opinion?
Avatar m tn I also had allergy testing while I was toddler. My mom also had this allergy so it made it a bit clearer when they tested me.
209987 tn?1451935465 If your toddler is normally a loving, caring, sweetie...and then suddenly turns into something you want to throw to the lions...could this be an allergic reaction? And no, I don't mean that I think I have an allergy to him lol! He's normally well behaved, knows his p's and q's, but lately things have changed. He's always been "stuffy" and a little wheezy when he's sleeping. His ped gave him a nose spray for that.
Avatar n tn If all this draws a blank then consider food allergy. You can get strips of food concentrate to test directly on your skin and this might be a good place to start. Identifying allergens is a job of detective work and takes time. In the meantime continue with your steroid lotion and antihistamine. Good luck.
9041091 tn?1410417329 My daughter had it real bad doctor said to try food elimination and it turned out that she has an allergy to dairy. Every time she had anything dairy her eczema would flare right up. Another friend did the same her child had it bad with starchy foods.

Avatar n tn My fourteen month old toddler has mild eczema and allergy to tree nuts + dairy; that has mainly manifested itself on his face in the form of small red patches. However, (not sure if the following is related at all) just a few months ago when the weather started getting colder and we turned the heat on, he started getting a dry rash-like patches on both his legs. Sometimes some patches would last just a day, other times they stick around for a while.
184674 tn?1360860493 Lol, yeah you learn all kinds of things about what's in food...usually the hard way...when you have to deal with a nasty allergy. I'm thankful his allergy isn't so bad that he gets anaphalaxis, but the rash and hives are unnerving and seem painful, so avoiding cow milk is the only option, even though it's (thankfully) not life threatening. I never knew how much milk is used in nearly every food item you buy from a store.
Avatar m tn Probably food allergy or a contact allergy. Keep a food journal.
Avatar n tn Dogs cannot get chicken pox so whatever is affecting your dog didn't come from you having chicken pox. Have you recently changed your dog's brand of food? It's possible that it could be a food allergy (or another type of allergy) but if everything has remained the same in the dog's routine and she has developed this rash, then my guess is that it could be a staph infection.
Avatar n tn I agree, I just feel like I am getting advice from doctors who are not fully educated on the subject matter. They refer to it as a food allergy and suggest that I try a gluten free diet to see if I notice any changes in her. Would it be appropriate to to have her tested even though she does not show any serious symptoms? If a blood test is done and suggests that she does not have the disease, is it necessary to test again later on in life? Or would this test confirm yes or no?
Avatar n tn I had a skin allergy test administered by an allergist which I was referred to by my doctor at that time many years ago now. The skin allergy test revealed that I had an allergy to eggs. Okay, if 4 is the highest reaction to a particular substance/food and 1 is the lowest, I had a 1 to eggs. Now , here it is over 10 years later, I eat eggs fairly often with no side effects that I can see. So no rash, no bloating etc.
Avatar f tn He vomits early hours of morning undigested food, which sometimes is what he had for breakfast. He has diarrhoea every morning usually 2-3 episodes. Generally he is in good form. Doctor tried rinitidine which doesn't seem to have helped. He has been referred to children's but I was just wondering what this could be.
Avatar f tn People can be allergic to any plant or animal food. Should Costco post an allergy alert for every food item it sells?
Avatar n tn have any of your babies had food allergies and if so, how did you know. She has no rash anywhere else. It almost looks like as if she had sunglasses on and when they were taken off, the lines below them are red with pimple like bumps. I hope I am making sense. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn As I understand, unless things have changed since, there are no allergy tests with regard to food allergies. It is usually by elimination to try and find the culprit food that would then be avoided. As the child is getting a rash when she eats specific foods, there is clearly a link between those foods. It may not be the tomatoes, but could be a specific ingredient that is in all those products that she eats.
