In this day and age there is no reason why you can not be treated. Good luck!

Avatar f tn New pathways need to be created to overcome the old programming. So for example, if you panic over a fear of flying, you must start flying and let the brain realise that its all okay, and reprogram the thoughts. However, the fear of dying can't really be practiced. Some buddhists meditate in a morgue as it is the closest we can get to dying. Once we understand that dying is just for the body and the spirit moves back to the energy (the light) we are no longer afraid of dying.

Our fear must have enough of an "edge" that we are motivated to act correctly—but not so much that we are paralyzed into inaction. That "edge" grows as true knowledge of Him increases. Some may think that God does not require of us this level of fear.
Avatar m tn ) Of course, once you put pressure on yourself to orgasm, it can become a duty rather than a pleasure. Some people become so orgasm-focused that sex becomes downright predictable, especially in long-term relationships. So, to recap: you may have negative attitudes about sex in general, or you may have performance issues or be bored or frustrated. Think about the issues I’ve raised and see if any are true for you. Remember not to put pressure on yourself.
Avatar m tn If you were assesed on our HIV Prevention Forum and told you had no risk, then you must accept that, move on, or seek therapy. If you're saying that you never HAD an exposure, and therefore, no risk, and yet cannot stop thinking about it, then you need to seek therapy. One of the best ways to help yourself overcome this fear is to become as educated about HIV/AIDS as possible.

Avatar m tn As to how to overcome this fear, all anxiety is overcome the same way -- you either do it over and over until you stop being afraid of it or you seek professional therapy to teach you ways of overcoming it. Learning some relaxation techniques might help, such as meditation and breathing exercises. If the anxiety is beyond any control you can consider medication -- if this is your only phobia, a relaxant you only take when you have to get your blood pressure taken might be of use.
Avatar f tn I would encourage you not to get tested and tested unless you have had an exposure such as unprotected vaginal or anal sex, sharing of needles with a drug user or mother to child via breast milk. Other than that, you can relax, you are not going to get HIV. Believe me I have had every fear about it just like you. I don't get tested. It only brings temporary - or sometimes no relief- and then you will feel like you want it again the next time you are triggered.
