865758 tn?1285952904 Has anyone ever experienced swollen painful lymph nodes with their thyroid? I have one just below my left ear and was wondering if it could be thyroid related. I don't have a fever or any other signs of an infection so I am curious as to what this could be. It is really bothersome and has me a little concerned.

Avatar n tn They are most likely from your thyroid issue. Thyroid (under or over active) will also cause fatigue, swollen lymph nodes in the throat. I have B12 deficiency, it has not caused my lymph nodes to swell in the past, and I have researched it lately and have not found anything to state that it does. But I also found out during my research and from my recent Dr that B12 deficiency is an autoimmune disease. If you have one of these, you can have multiples.
Avatar f tn te rest of the nodes as the other nodes as well as the thyroid gland itself is not doing much at all. Should I consider getting this taken out?
Avatar f tn I recently had a thyroid untrasound done and I need help with these results: Isthmus .62cm Right thyroid lobe 5.6x2.4x2.4cm left thryroid lobe 5.1x2.1x1.8 findings: There is heterogeneous echogenicity throught the thyroid gland. There is mild hypervascularity. There is a 1.3 x.7 cm heterogeneous hypoechoic solid nodule along the mid pole of the left lobe There is a 1.4x1.11 cm cystic-solid nodule along the posterior aspect of the mid pole of the left lobe There is a 1.5 x 1.
Avatar n tn I was just diagnosed with a 2mm papillary thyroid carcinoma with follicular growth pattern. I had a total thyroidectomy, not expecting to find cancer. The focus was confined to the thyroid. The right lobe shows a stitch at the superior pole. What does "stitch" mean? No one explained it to me and the significance. I was wondering if it meant, the cancer was close to escaping, close to not being contained with in the thyroid gland. Kind of like a pull on the gland.

Avatar f tn you are going through a lot right now. Has your physician ruled out thyroid cancer ? If not, I would consider speaking with him/her about this and make sure that he/she has performed all of the necessary tests. There are many people who post on these boards who get EBV and then have an abnormal thyroid test. The majority of CFS patients have a low thyroid, but the standard thyroid tests (TSH and T4) fail to detect this.
1855970 tn?1325823613 Have you looked into hypothyroidism? Not the easiest condition to diagnose sometimes as the standard test TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) can be "normal" with this condition. A more indepth testing can include TSH, free T3, free T4, Reverse T3 and thyroid antibodies - TPOAb and TgAb. The most common cause of hypothyroidism due to Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (autoimmune hypothyroidism).
Avatar n tn Weren't given lab results with reference ranges, only told that all TSH levels were normal. All her CBC blood work came back normal, but the swelling in her neck is evident and she is more tired than usual. She is active in softball and gets tired more easily, even lightheaded. She says it does not bother her. She can swallow just fine, but the difference in her demeanor is evident. Teacher has stated she's been more lethargic in the last few weeks before we noticed swelling.
Avatar f tn The descriptions of your lymph nodes are most consistent with benign lymph nodes reacting to the Hashimoto's thyroiditis. This is a relatively common finding. Now that you have a good baseline ultrasound it may be reasonable to wait 3-6 months and repeat the ultrasound to see if there is any change. Please discuss these options with her doctor.
Avatar f tn Because I felt so exhausted with major memory issues with swollen lymp nodes I really pushed for other tests and that was when my general doctor ordered the ultra sound.
Avatar n tn I have had a scan done on the left hand side and no cancer is shown there or in either side lymph nodes. I am due to have surgery next week to remove the right hand lobe as they say due to my age and the size of the lump there is a 20% chance there are cancer cells already in the left hand side which could be undetected by the scan. My questions are what is the likelihood of cancer returning later in my life if I leave the right lobe in and what are the statistics?
Avatar n tn Since the last bad flare up, I am also having a weighted feeling on my chest radiating from my sternum. Sometimes the pressure combined with the choking feeling of the swollen thyroid makes it hard to breathe. Question Should I be concerned about this swelling, does it lend itself to cancer, be it thyroid, lymphoma, or breast cancer? Back at the docs in 2 weeks to try and boost meds again, should I be asking for an MRI or something??
Avatar n tn The results said I have a heterogenous thyroid gland with no distinct nodule and enlarged lymph nodes. About a moth later after a UTI which resolved when treated with bactrim, I started to get random low grade fevers (99.0-100.8) accompanied by nausea and feeling like I was getting a hot flash. When it flared up my face would get red kinda like a lupus butterfly rash and I felt like I had a brick in my stomach.
Avatar n tn During a total thyroidectomy if thyroid tissue found in surrounding lymph nodes does that mean it's cancer? Also if a person has thyroid cancer, hurthle cell, what is considered late stages?
Avatar n tn Uneven density, possible nodules or areas with increased blood flow. Get the thyroid ultrasound for sure result.
