Avatar n tn Is there any help for weight loss women that has a hysterectomy i exercise and eat right taken all kind of diet pills.
Avatar n tn All kinds of nasal problems can develop - including holes completely through the septum - many of these nose problems develop more rapidly and become much more sinister snorting coke..... its much more caustic than most pills - but the pills also cause the problems. When a substance drains and flows down your throat you are constantly bathing some valuable body parts in narcotics......... the thyroid suffers dramatically from this ... and its not good for any part of you.....
Avatar n tn I don't think diet pills are ever called for. I don't know how long you've been on thyroid med, but many people begin to lose weight after they get on med and get stabilized. While you may lose weight with diet pills, it's very seldom a "lasting" thing, because, for many/most people, they gain the weight back as soon as they go off the diet pills; however, keep in mind that many diet pills don't work at all, or only if you restrict your diet too much.
1426120 tn?1283039272 Certain medications like antidepressants cause weight gain. Polycystic ovary too causes weight gain, hence has to be ruled out by an ultrasound of abdomen. If the above causes are eliminated then you can join a weight trainer and a nutrition expert and follow their advice and lose weight under their guidance. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn I do take birth control pills on a daily basis and he told me my thyroid was just fine and my pills had affected my test results, did not have an answer as to why the TPO was elevated but I left there with the following instructions: lose weight and stop taking birth control pills, go home and comb my hair and put in a bag and 2 months later comb it again and compare the loss. This in an effort to see if stopping the bc pills would affect the hair loss.
Avatar n tn If you have stable thyroid disease there is no contra-indication to most medications - but most of these pills offer only short term results and most everyone gains the weight back w/ stopping the program.
Avatar f tn my SIL continues and IS losing weight. Unfortunately, daughter lost weight on it just long enough to get through her wedding in Sept then quit --- guess what?? She's gained back all + some....... B12 shots should give you energy, but they are not a weight loss drug. I take b12 shot every 2 weeks because I am deficient......I can guarantee that it will not make you lose weight, unless you exercise...and if you aren't deficient, it probably won't help you much at all.
4784361 tn?1401231107 Most of us here, aren't very open minded when it comes to diet pills. How about if I pretend to "be your doctor" and just say "no"?.. LOL Those pills really can have an adverse reaction since you're taking beta blockers (I used to be on them, too). Diet pills usually don't work, especially for those of us with hypothyroidism.
1744558 tn?1311302380 Thyroid hormone replacement meds will ALLOW you to lose weight. When thyroid hormone levels are off, it's almost impossible to lose weight. Once your hormones are properly adjust with meds, you should have a much easier time. Notice that I said once they are properly adjusted, NOT once you start. Adjustment is a trial and error process to some extent. The dose we are initially put on is seldom the dose we end up on, so it can take a while to get it right.
Avatar f tn A few months later i was started on levothyroxine and this worked well for years. I gained a bit of weight but remained at this stable weight for a few more years even after the birth of another 2 children!! Around 18 months ago i started to GAIN weight excessively! (around 3 pounds per week). By the time i had gained approx 19 pounds i returned to my GP who thought i needed more thyroxine.
949250 tn?1245962941 Interesting that you should ask that question! I personally believe that thyroid issues(whether it be hyper or hypo) and/or endocrine issues can cause this. Now, my primary care doc, endocrinologist, surgeon and dermatologist disagree - but the patches I have on my upper lip came at the same time that I started gaining weight and eventually found out I had hashimotos and thyroid cancer. Coincidence? I don't think so. But then again, I'm not a doctor.
Avatar f tn I have seen my OB before and complained about this and he just said that my ovary is working, and said that I dont need to take hormone pills. He doesnt like to give those pills to people because of the fear of cancer. Thanks again for responding. I am hoping to feel better soon.
Avatar f tn I blamed it on the birth control pills but I stopped using the pills 3 weeks ago and I have not lost any weight. I do weights, cardio and pilates. What could be the problem? I'm losing my mind here.
Avatar n tn So Free T3 and Free T4 will give the best picture of your thyroid status. Due to the cause for your weight gain, you should be able to lose some of the weight by getting your Free T3 to the right level for you. After that it may be necessary to work on diet and exercise to get where you want to be. But making sure your Free T3/metabolism are right should be the first step.

Avatar n tn I'd be very cautious with any diet pills. I have read that they are dangerous with thyroid meds as are certain decongestants. Try increasing your activity and cut back on carbs or calories while you are getting your meds regulated. I know that isn't as easy as it sounds, but you don't want a health problem from a diet pill. I had a TT over 2 years ago and in the long run it has not affected my weight negatively.
Avatar n tn I have attempted the gym, kepts logs of what I eat, tried over the counter diet pills but currently am almost 50lbs over weight. (prior to my hysterectomy was at a normal weight). When I bring up to my doctor she states that it has nothing to do with my hysterectomy, I have been tested for thyroid and it is at normal levels. Does anyone have any ideas, at this point I do not know what else to do.
Avatar n tn I agree with you on the diet pills, they tend to have bad side effects for those of us with Thyroid issues. The B12 you've talked about is mostly for energy, which in turn helps you exercise more (even if it's just being up more and moving around doing laundry, cleaning, etc. that's a start). The biggest thing about the B12 is the Lipotropics (3 amino acids) that are being added to help break down the stubborn fat we gain and to support the liver while moving it out.
Avatar n tn I have low thyroid and I am taking Armour 30MG,can I take Alli for weight loss while taking Armour?
Avatar n tn Hi. I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. To be upfront, I've never taken weight loss pills, no one in my family has, so I have no knowledge about them and am usually skeptical about their claims. With any such pill, though, I wouldn't do anything without first checking with my doctor (both personal and endo) about the effects. I did a search for info on cylaris, and the weight loss predictions sound like marketing hype.
Avatar m tn I'm 38 and stopped taking levothyroxine because it was making me gain weight - I started taking diet pills again and now I missed my period and have really bad break out ?
640719 tn?1277140030 Hi everyone, sorry.. I haven't posted in a while I've been sick hospitalized with pneumonia/asthma but I do try to keep up with the thyroid forum because it is such a blessing to have so many of you who take the time who give your comfort and advise to those in need. I just want to say this really is a great resource for many! I went to my Endo yesterday and had my biggest drop 7-9 months out after Partial TT which really surprised me.
12182312 tn?1427683956 I just cannot lose weight. And I absolutely will not have any type of weight lose surgery. I know this is not my fault, cause believe me I try. I just hate how my family and friends look at me. They are disgusted. Has anyone been in this situation before. What should I do. Any thoughts are appreciated..
