Avatar n tn s a doctor here on MH by the name of James Beckerman who has some really good articles you might find interesting, regarding hgh and weight loss.
Avatar m tn lack of appetite due to gastritis, pancreatitis, gallbladder attacks these are some of the reasons why I have lost weight when I was not trying. All pertaining to the digestive system and it could be many more reason. Including having a serious illness.
Avatar n tn You might want to get your thyroid checked. I've heard of many women who have had thyroid problems after a hysterectomy. Are you on any kind of hormone therapy?
Avatar m tn Both thyroid diseases are when antibodies attack the thyroid gland. They think your thyroid is a disease, by mistake, of course, and attack it. I am not familiar with testosterone levels. I do remember adolescence and at that time I had crazy hormones. This may be the case with you, but it wouldn't hurt do run the tests.
Avatar n tn I will try again with this one!, Some of the symptoms you stated are thyroid symptoms, such as Insomnia, fatigue/Energy Loss, Muscle Joint pain, stiff, achy neck, Depression, weight gain , Anxiety and dry skin. The others you mentioned could be side affects of the Anxiety medication you are taking are symptoms of Diabetes, those are Frequent Urination and Odor It is difficult to advise or give opinions without lab results and the ranges provided with each result.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with an advanced case of gum disease and I need the following question answer. I have experienced serious weight loss (25-30lbs) since the beginning of the year after the diagnosis. I want to know if it is remotely possible that my teeth/gum condition has contributed to this? I currently need extractions done and have. I'm scared to death that I might have cancer.(Bone, blood, etc) PLEASE ADVISE..
4943237 tn?1428991095 ve both had it covered, but what about thyroid function? An overactive thyroid can cause racing heart and weight loss, as the entire metabolism speeds up. A thyroid function test is a matter of only one blood draw, and can tell a lot. Usually TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) is what's tested, but I wouldn't settle for that. Ask for TSH, T4, T3, everything. I personally have autoimmune underactive thyroid, which I've been medicated for for 35 years, no probs.
Avatar f tn I also was recently told that I have thyroid problems thyroidisim no shure if that's how you spell it? My doctor said that I need to keep doing 30 min exercise and try to eat right and take my thyroid med and if I don't loose weight in 6 months he will recomend the surgery, But I have had this weight problem all my life, What can I do to get my doctor to take me serious? I may loose 10-20 pounds in six months but I need to loose more than that because I want to be here for my kids.
Avatar m tn When I workout I mainly lift weights so I expect that I should gain weight rather than loose it right? The weight loss has been pretty drastic. A couple of months ago I was about 240ish pounds. Then I dropped down to 225 pounds. At that time I wasnt really eating, as I didnt have an appetite. Then, I was making my self eat. I would eat a lot as well. My weight would go up to about 227 pounds then go right back to 225. I went to the doctor because of this and he tested me for diabetes.
Avatar f tn I seen to be having real problems shifting weight, have put on 10lb since January, not quite sure what to do, I try and go running 3 times a week, am trying to build up to 3 miles.
Avatar m tn 6month later my weight is continous loss current my weight is 58 in past it was 69 in my body every bone is shown in mean doctor's given test became t3 is 17.3 and my stool is not clear but i should not explain exactly about my stool but i think remaing problem is stii now also gas acidity. This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/264844'>TSH elevated, but T3 and T4 normal. Fatigue, but weight loss and nervousness.</a>.
Avatar m tn If you drastically changed your diet or worked out more, that could account for the weight loss. Being under a lot of stress could keep you from gaining weight back. Otherwise, it might not be a bad idea to get your thyroid checked out anyway.
Avatar f tn Still I cannot lose weight. I am a pro-diabetic and it is very important that I lose weight. Please help!
Avatar f tn Here is the answer to this question. In order to lose weight, you have to subtract calories. Safe weight loss is 1-2 lbs/week, so in order to lose 1 lb/week, you'd have to drop 500 calories from your BMR each day (1 lb is equal to 3500 calories, so 500 calories X 7 days = 3500 calories or 1 lb). OR you can drop 250 calories from your diet and increase exercise to use an additional 250 calories. Changing up calorie counts and exercises will help prevent plateau.
Avatar m tn If so, what are your total and free numbers? Your loss of libido could be helped if your testosterone is low and you correct this. My thyroid was very bad and i tested low for testosterone. If you are 42, your total range should be 400-800. My guess is you are probably hovering in the 200's. Even though you might be lethargic from the thyroid, fixing low testosterone will help you with energy. It will also help you a little with the weight problem and also your libido.
Avatar n tn My question is this everything i have found says that it causes weight loss. I have experienced the opposite effect I had a baby recently and gained over 75 pounds during the pregnancy and i seem to keep gaining i have been overweight my whole life but the last couple of years have seen me rise to weight levels of obesity i am near 400 pounds now and 5'9" . So i wonder is this common and will treatment help me to loose weight like it does with people who have hypo ?
Avatar f tn Yes please talk to your dr, there are many things that could cause rapid or excessive weight loss and some of them can be serious. In addition to Thyroid and GI testing maybe ask about diabetes. It seems odd, but it can cause weight loss.
Avatar m tn If your thyroid levels aren't right for you, you will have a hard time losing weight. You may still be hypo, even if your lab reports show your levels to be "in range". You may need an adjustment in your medication. Can you post your most recent lab results, including TSH, Free T3 and Free T4, along with reference ranges listed on your lab report? Reference ranges are lab specific, so must come from your own report.
