Avatar n tn You are probably not going to lose weight at first. You're replacing fat with muscle. It takes some time for the weight loss to occur, but it is mostly the result of changing your diet. Change to low carb, high fat and protien diet. Get rid of sugar and gluten.
Avatar f tn Why is weight loss so slow sometimes? I work out 5-6 days wk for at least hr-aerobic & deadlifing/kettle bells. Also keeping at 1,500 cals per day.
Avatar m tn To answer your question about weight loss, Yes, it is possible but will take a lot of patience, determination and good eating plan, along with excersise. I had undiagnosed Hashimoto's for over 15 years and ballooned out to over 102kgs (224 lbs) Check my profile photos and you will see me at my heaviest in one of the pics. I had no medication and decided that since the doctors wouldn't listen to me that I had to do it all by myself. nearly 3 years later I have lost nearly 40kgs.
1089270 tn?1257174234 You might also talk to your doctor about checking for other medical issues that cause weight gain, such as thyroid issues, insulin resistance, PCOS, etc. I have thyroid issues and when my thyroid quit working is why I gained weight, not because of my hysterectomy. Whatever the cause, we hope you will stay tuned in to our community and let us know your progress.
1198369 tn?1294791928 I would love to know how to come across a secret diet that makes you lose weight fast, but inreality something that took a while to put on takes a while to take off. It feels so much better when you are fit and your body feels healthy. The best think I can recommened is eat healthy and do lots of excersizing.
Avatar n tn She is a very active child, always outdoors, playing with three to four other children. Rides bikes, walks, plays ball, etc.. but we are at a loss as to help her loose weight. We do not keep any candy in the house, stopped using any sugar at all over two years ago. Limit her intake, and yet she still gains weight. What can I do?
Avatar f tn So many women (myself included) have low thyroid function and hypothyroidism. It causes weight gain (as well as a number of other symptoms) and can make it harder to lose weight, especially if it has not been addressed. Do ask your doctor to test all your thyroid levels (not just TSH, check the free levels too). If it is low you can take a replacement which will get you back in line and then you may start to see some weight loss. 2) When I first started this I thought I was eating right.
Avatar m tn When I stopped smoking last time I was concerned about the weight gain and now Im concerned about the weight loss. Putting all the pieces together, the pattern does sound logical. Thoughts?
Avatar m tn If so, what are your total and free numbers? Your loss of libido could be helped if your testosterone is low and you correct this. My thyroid was very bad and i tested low for testosterone. If you are 42, your total range should be 400-800. My guess is you are probably hovering in the 200's. Even though you might be lethargic from the thyroid, fixing low testosterone will help you with energy. It will also help you a little with the weight problem and also your libido.
393685 tn?1425812522 I have a question. I read this from you on a post about stevia. "This product must be avoided as it contains dextrose which is a sugar additive. This additive is know for causing stalls and gains." I am a thyroid patient on Natural Desiccated Thyroid made w/ dextrose. How does that work now? Am I not a candidate for HCG?
Avatar f tn Yes please talk to your dr, there are many things that could cause rapid or excessive weight loss and some of them can be serious. In addition to Thyroid and GI testing maybe ask about diabetes. It seems odd, but it can cause weight loss.
Avatar f tn ve been reading a lot about it, though, and an Atkins-like plan seems to help some people with thyroid problems. Are you currently on any meds for your hypothyroidism? And if so, has it helped at all?
Avatar m tn If your thyroid levels aren't right for you, you will have a hard time losing weight. You may still be hypo, even if your lab reports show your levels to be "in range". You may need an adjustment in your medication. Can you post your most recent lab results, including TSH, Free T3 and Free T4, along with reference ranges listed on your lab report? Reference ranges are lab specific, so must come from your own report.
Avatar f tn Google LCHF and you will see a whole bunch of doctors and nutritionists with tons of meals and recipes (simple and inexpensive). Try it for a week and you will see the weight loss happen and food cravings reduce, as this style of eating keeps your blood sugar stable all day long and trains your body to burn fat in absence of insulin secretion. So, LCHF works for me...I love it! I hope the best in your life whatever you chose to do. Good luck and be well.
Avatar f tn I can honestly say crash diets are not that great for long term weight loss. I have always been quite a large child, whilst all my siblings were rather tiny and I struggled so much with Weight but what I felt worked best was eating lots of protein and lean meats with lots of vegetables. I also found green tea with lemon and raspberry tea quite effective. It takes time but you'll get there.
658757 tn?1397796878 What does your doctor say about this weight loss? Do you have any other symptoms besides the weight loss? I would have my doctor do further tests to see why you are losing weight.
Avatar f tn fatigue, weakness, weight gain, trouble losing weight, sensitive to cold, muscle aching and cramps, constipation, depression, memory loss, odd menstrual periods.

Avatar f tn No, assuming that you don't have an eating disorder, this is not normal unless you retain a lot of fluid, which you shouldn't, at your age ......... It sounds like you could be suffering from an overactive thyroid; have you ever had thyroid function tested? Get the following tests: TSH, Free T3 and Free T4, plus TSI; and get checked for Type I diabetes........ these are 2 major health issues that cause weight loss....... don't panic, but get tested for both asap....
Avatar f tn Im a qualified personal trainer and what you described there is totally normal, your losing weight in a healthy manner which is hard to do so fair play to you, keep it up! The thyroid will set you back and losing weight will take longer! If you are worried and need any advice you can PM me!
4943237 tn?1428991095 ve both had it covered, but what about thyroid function? An overactive thyroid can cause racing heart and weight loss, as the entire metabolism speeds up. A thyroid function test is a matter of only one blood draw, and can tell a lot. Usually TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) is what's tested, but I wouldn't settle for that. Ask for TSH, T4, T3, everything. I personally have autoimmune underactive thyroid, which I've been medicated for for 35 years, no probs.
Avatar f tn I hate to answer questions with more questions, but --- Do you know for sure that you have thyroid issues? If so, why aren't you being treated for them? What tests have been done and what are the results, along with the lab's reference ranges? We all react differently to meds, foods, etc and while some people do well with a gluten free diet, my doctor told me not to bother with it because I'm not gluten sensitive. I do well with whole grains.
