Avatar m tn Hi, I just want to know if there are men out there experiencing thyroid problems (thyroid cancer/hyper or hypothyroidism/etc) and what were the prevailing symptoms and how did you overcome them? I heard there is a low chance of men experiencing thyroid problems but I just want to know if there are people out there experiencing such problems. Thanks!
Avatar m tn I am sure I gad Thyroid disease in my thirties also, I never had any symptoms other than a slightly elevated cholesterol level, but when I hit 58 things really started going down hill, I started out with insomnia and had to quit work because I could not sleep, and that made the fatigue worse, but everyone is different as far as symptoms go, some get most of them and others only a few, it seemed in my case, I had all of them hit me at once, it then took a year before I found an MD that diagnosed
Avatar m tn We're not all that quiet, just out numbered. I've been on thyroid meds for about 35 years, but really can't relate to your question. Everybody is slightly different. I am very confident that if hypo t is the underlying cause, then things will return to normal once you are on the correct meds and have time for the body to heal.
Avatar m tn Hi, Welcome to the forum. I hope we can help you through the diagnostic process. We have many UK members. There is a connection between the thyroid and MS, but one doesn't cause the other. In people with MS, autoimmunne thyroid disease is about 3 times more likely. There are a few other autoimmune diseases that are also more common in people with MS. Speaking as a physician, though, you are also at the age where weight creeps on and won't creep off.
Avatar n tn Thanks. Unfortunately I only have the TSH to go on this time. The labs were ordered such that the T3/T4 levels were only checked if the TSH was out of range. I worked with an Endo previously but I moved out of the area and then moved back. I've been working with my primary internal med doc since I didn't seem to have any acute Thyroid issues at the time. I did discuss some hypo symptoms with him at my last physical. Up/Down energy level, intolerance to cold (mostly at night).
Avatar m tn I am a 24yrs old male and have been having problems for the past ten years, only in the past five have things gotten so bad that I knew something must be wrong. I have been seeing an endocrinologist that diagnosed me with hypothyroidism, but even after taking Armor Thyroid (30mg) for a month the only difference I notice is my though process is a little clearer and speech doesn't slur as much, I wanted to know how could I get a doctor to find out what is really wrong with me.
Avatar f tn now i m not ypo and still have nerve problems like m.s.i had brain MRI and is t clear.doctors told me that its because of thyroid nd anxienty.does anyone havings same problems???
Avatar m tn Hi there, The common causes of hot flashes in males are andropause, thyroid disorders and aging hormones. As a man ages his body produces less testosterone and androgen which may cause hot flashes. Other causes of hot flashes are infections like HIV and tuberculosis. Use of medications like Nifedipine and Calcitonin and certain antibiotics are few other causes of hot flashes. Sometimes food containing monosodium glutamate can cause hot flashes.
Avatar f tn Plus ingredients in the personal care and beauty products (this why thyroid disorders are commonly affecting women and "high maintenance" men; exposure to radioactive substances (NOT x-rays, but chemicals such as I-131 and cesium-137) taking birth control and weight loss pills before age of 35 EXCESS of iodine (causes autoimmune reaction); not everyone require same amount Perchlorate and fluoride chemicals
Avatar f tn underative thyroid run in the family. in fact i have and had unteated underactive thyroid when i was pregnant with him. not by choice, but because my ob at the time wouldnt check me for it. any way he has been have development delays, especially in his speech, and behavioral problems. any information would be helpful, i dont know what to do.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the group, but I'm sorry for the reason you are here. I'm assuming you aren't currently taking any Synthroid since you will be having RAI pretty soon which would certainly explain your fatigue. Many people here are hypothyroid either because of having their thyroid removed or for other reasons and can surely sympathize with all the symptoms that go along with it. A great resource for the newly diagnosed thyroid cancer patient is www.thyca.org.
Avatar f tn Osteoperosis can be a problem with thyroid disease, especially hyperthyroidism. That is not an excuse for not upping your meds, unless doing so will drive you to hyper. Are your blood tests showing you slightly hypo?
Avatar m tn pdf So it would be a good idea to find out if your doctor is willing to treat clinically as described in the letter. If not, then you will need to find a good thyroid doctor that will do so.
Avatar n tn The lab reports showed decreased TSH when I asked for those tests by chance so the endocrinologist suggested that the disease had not progressed for long, it was just the start with the emptying of all the thyroid . However, I have always had problems with losing weight,ALWAYS and of course the genetic makeup allows some of us to have a more active metabolism, but I always wonder whether for me is that only that or hypothyroidism has sth to do with it during all these years.

428506 tn?1296557399 any input on soy appreciated by falldown, Nov 11, 2009 09:14AM For years, nutritionists have touted the health benefits of soy. But now some believe this protein alternative could present a real danger since it is found in a large number of foods we eat Lenore Nolan-Ryan, who owns a catering company in Lauderdale by the Sea and is a personal chef to many clients, loves to cook soy.
Avatar n tn I am having thoughts actually for the last 2 years that my thyroid might be the root to all of these problems because I have problems concentrating, my joints hurt sooooo badly notingly my hips, collar bones, hands, ankles, knees, lower back bone tail bone and surrounding lower back area. I have MEGA mood swings all the time and sometimes have a hard time keeping myself under control. I dont know what to do anymore so I need answers. Please help me!!
798555 tn?1292787551 It is my sleep issues that led me to discover my thyroid problems. I wake up to 8 times a night with night sweats. (completely soaked) I am peri-menapausal, but I have absolutely no hot flashes during the day and no other menapausal symptoms and the doc seems to think that they are so extreme because of thyroid issues. I have been on a long road over the last year and am having my thyroid removed on the 3rd because of size, compression symptoms and inconclusive biopsies.
