If you take thyroid hormone and you are deficient in iodine, the thyroid replacement actually exacerbates the deficiency. Many patients can effectively treat their hypothyroid condition by correcting iodine deficiency. Hypothyroidism is a common medical problem It is, however, a treatable condition that can be managed.

If ur still reading your pretty awesome! Vision was double with my prism on. So vision got somewhat worse. And have had plenty of more symptoms throughout this time period. Was sent for another MRI.
Avatar f tn T3 and T4 are the primary thyroid hormones. All T4 is made in the thyroid. It's the "storage" form of the thyroid hormones and basically floats around in your bloodstream until your cells need thyroid hormone. However, T3 is the "active" form of the thyroid hormones, the only form your cells can use.
5794790 tn?1393105679 Regarding Celiac Disease: I had an endoscopy in March in which a tissue sample was taken. Test result was negative for celiac. I've not seen anything on dessicated thyroid in any posts and have been reading the book, "Stop the Thyroid Madness." Any thoughts on that?
Avatar m tn 2022 My co-authors and I have recently completed and posted our third (and I think our best) paper on thyroid. It is posted on a thyroid patient advocacy site in the UK. The paper explains from a patient's perspective why the current standard of care for hypothyroidism is ineffective for the majority of cases, and why it needs so badly to be changed. I think hypothyroid patients will find it very useful for discussion with doctors when trying to get effective diagnosis and treatment.
