Avatar n tn There are various causes of multiple joint pains like osteoarthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatic pathology, thyroid problems etc. It is difficult to comment without examination. You can read more about this on: http://www.aafp.org/afp/20030915/1151.html Do consult an orthopedic specialist too. You could have injured interphalangeal joint of your finger. The multiple joint involvement could also be due to infection or due to reactive arthritis. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Thyroid issues can throw the whole body off and it can cause muscle/joint aches/pains, so I guess anything is possible. But it seems that if the problem were that severe, and symptoms were present, it would have been detected. What symptoms do you have that make you suspect thyroid issues? What tests have been run?
Avatar f tn My daughter has all the signs of Thyroid problems but her blood test showed a level of 1.62 which is normal (I was told). But she has gain 40 pounds in 2 years (not changing any of her diet or exercise), she has joint pains, depression, anxiety, migraines and low libido and is always tired even if she has 12 hours of sleep. I was sure it was her thyroid but now that the blood test tells us it's normal I am at a lost. Any other idea what it could be?
Avatar n tn A 15 year old boy's thyroid is down, his cortisone levels low, his testosterone levels low and his growth hormone levels high. Taps of his knee removed up to 500 cc of fluid, but no evidence of anything specifically wrong inside the knee, just that it was being damaged. He looked gaunt and unhealthy. 1. what hormonal problem could be causing these symptoms? 2. Why would joint damage be associated with rapid growth and low testosterone levels?

I have lab after labs done I keep asking them to really check into my thyroid. Here are some of my symptoms I’m tired all the time even after 8-9 hours of sleep. I’m fatigued all the time, depressed moody.
Avatar n tn You should try asking your question on the Thyroid forum because this forum is for dysautonomia. Maybe someone on the Thyroid forum will know if your joint pain is related to your Thyroid problems.
483088 tn?1212346249 t know if I can take anti-inflammatories without messing my thyroid up more?? I forgot to ask the doc, and what about alternative remedies for joint issues can I take them without causing more problems? I have such a busy life that I am worried also that I cant keep going at the pace I usually do and yet people rely on me doing so (kids, patients, dog, hubby, friends etc). Im sure I will adapt but I really appreciate your reply and any help and advice to help me do so!
Avatar f tn I did not realize the joint pain was attributed to the thyroid problems. I had severe problems with both knees, hips, shoulders and then it moved into my elbows. I had an RA test done to find out if I was positive. it came back positive. However my doctor told me that this was not the deciding factor on whethor or not i actually had it, only a helpful guide. I still have joint pain and have since been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. So this is very interesting.
Avatar n tn A few months later my OB clinic realized I had a lumpy thyroid and tested my TSH--which was 29. (I was a little hypo during pregnancy). The OB clinic upped my dose from 50 mcg to 125 mcg overnight. A couple of days later I began to have carpal tunnel symptoms. When I finally saw an endocrinologist, we determined I was on too high of a dose and was lowered to 100 mcg.
Avatar f tn TSH is inadequate as an initial diagnostic for thyroid, and basically a wasted test when already taking thyroid med. There is an extremely long list of symptoms that may be related to hypothyroidism. The following link lists 26 of the most typical symptoms. Which of those, if any, do you have? http://endocrine-system.emedtv.com/hypothyroidism/hypothyroidism-symptoms-and-signs.
Avatar m tn I am learning that several posters have mentioned thyroid problems. I will specifically question my RN on that part of my next blood work. Thank you for bringing the possibility to my attention.
5466288 tn?1410485185 ve been having joint problems(not arthritic).Just wondering if any of you have joint problems during cold monthes?
586140 tn?1219078962 d definately mention to your doctor that your having problems with the Synthroid and see if he can switch you to another brand of thyroid replacement, or check for other problems if the pain was there prior to replacement.
Avatar n tn What caught my attention about your post is that you have had problems since your RAI treatment. I was always told that once I was regulated on thyroid medication all my problems would resolve themselves! Well, that clearly isn't the case, though it is still the response to people with thyroid problems. Are there any other resources you have found helpful (besides the arthritis forum which I will check out)?
1765114 tn?1313541596 After years of pushing that there was something wrong with my thyroid, my doc found thyroid cancer in 2011 and removed my thyroid. Ever since, my neck has been swollen off and on, sometimes it is very painful. Both ENT and endocrinologist said they couldn't find anything wrong (bear in mind the whole time up until my thyroid was removed and pathology was done, they couldn't find anything wrong with it either). It has gotten progressively worse.
Avatar f tn Is it the big toe? if so it could be gout; is it toe joint pain? there are many conditions responsable for toe pain , Raynaud's phenomenon (caused by underlying conditions ) , nerve problems, Arthritis....Do you have more symptoms?
Avatar f tn Hashimoto's IS an underlying autoimmune disease....... and yes, it can cause severe muscle/joint pain. It can also cause edema. I have swelling throughout my body, that may or may not be thyroid related; no matter how high my levels are, it never goes completely away. My fingers swell considerably and often hurt when I bend them. What are your actual thyroid hormone levels, with reference ranges?
Avatar f tn I had four nodules, long story short, they found cancer and the thyroid was removed, and my joint pain went away after about a week. Once I got on the correct dose of meds, I am now brain-fog free, a LOT less clumsy, and my hair has ceased falling out. I haven't dropped a glass in several months, I haven't tripped and fallen while walking or running, I feel great. Keep at it, you will find an answer. Is the nodule measured in cm or mm? I would guess mm because 7.
Avatar f tn It is amazing how many things int he body the thyroid helps to control including muscle aches and pains, joint pain, emotions, metabolism, weight gain/loss, breathing and the list just keeps on going. With that said, proper treatment of the thyroid and proper medication can control the disease and eliminate the symptoms. The trick is finding the right doctor that treats by not only the blood tests but the patient's symptoms as well. They go hand in hand.
