Avatar n tn by an ND after several tests that indicated less than optimal thyroid function. Glandular is just an extract of the organ (in this case thyroid) from an animal source (generally bovine). Thank you for your comments.
Avatar n tn Hello, what does it mean if a doctor feels your neck/throat and it "feels glandular"? Is this good or bad?
Avatar f tn if my severe case of Glandular Fever was responsible for this terrible illness????....i caught or develped a severe case of Glandular fever when i was 18 years old.....and it lastes for a massive 2 years to get totally rid of the fevers......depression....aches and pains..swelling.....this was an extremely long time to have Glandualr Fever for ive been told....but the worst of is subsided at around 9 months.....and then symptoms lingered for about 2years.........I became unwell with tiredness...
Avatar m tn "Biotics Research...glandular products are prepared strictly from USDA inspected bovine and porcine tissues and are certified BSE-free. GTA-Forte II contains 20 milligrams of porcine thyroid glandular (T3) along with 10 milligrams of zinc and I milligram of copper which are not present in GTA." We periodically are asked about supplements and their actual thyroid hormone content.
Avatar f tn Because my doctor would not renew my meds until I came back in for tests, I went a month without my Armour Thyroid before the last tests, taking health food store thyroid glandular during that time. My doctor said my tests were off but they look pretty good to me. The T3 and T4 are within Range. The THS is way high. Is that a real factor when the T4 and T3 are good? Free T4(.80-1.80) . recent .88 last year .78 Free T3 ( 2.0-4.4) recent- 2.6 last year 2.4 TSH (.40-4.5) recent -12.73 last year 4.
Avatar m tn I was wondering about the importance of Vitamin D in thyroid health. I noticed that it was the only vitamin my endo asked for in my latest blood tests. Results came in and seems like I'm under the range.
Avatar f tn After tons of blood work (repeated twice), an ekg, and thorough examination, he diagnosed me with an unidentified endocrine problem causing poly glandular failure. I was referred to my endocrinologist that treats my hypothyroidism. He repeated the blood tests (four times) and said that my thyroid meds needed adjusting and I had prolactinemia. I had the prolactinemia previously. He had taken me off the Dostinex about four months earlier.
Avatar f tn I have Hashimoto's. During my last visit the doctor told me that my thyroid is enlarged. She sent me for an ultrasound. They said they can see Hashimoto's thyroiditis and also indicated the below. Any idea?? I've been searching all day, paranoid. Thanks. The gland is diffusely heterogeneous in echotexture with diffuse underlying micronodularity.
Avatar n tn I've not heard of that to be honest. I did find an OTC thyroid product called Nutri-Meds but they are labelled as a "Porcine Desiccated Thyroid Glandular" What is one more name to add to the list eh?
Avatar f tn The over the counter supplements usually have a thyroid glandular product in them. There are many types of glandulars on the market. BUT the thyroid glandulars are not strong enough for actual thyroid disease....I know I tried them. They are considered a food supplement product and can be bought in health food stores. Unless they are getting thyroid meds from a different country or illegally......not good. Most likely they are talking about glandular products....
Avatar f tn when they find atypical glandular cells in your pap, does that mean you have cancer and if so what are the treatments and is it deadly?
Avatar m tn Maybe never. As far as I know a thyroid glandular bought over the counter cannot contain actual thyroid hormones T4 and T3. Note what it says below. "Thyrotsim Tablets by Biotics Research contain vitamin A‚ trace minerals‚ iodine‚ and specific blends that combine nature and scientific research to promote thyroid health." Nothing there that would really help unless your are deficient in iodine, which is an unusual occurrence here.
Avatar m tn Hi Jimbo poor you, big sympathy. so sorry you feel so rotten I have to counter medicmommy's view that glandular fever is the same as mumps, not so, I think the US call glandular fever mono. Mumps is something different. these links give more info on both. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infectious_mononucleosis http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn I was a triathlete when I became overwhelmingly lethargic, 21 years later still the same. It began with Glandular Fever then Hashimoto's Thyroiditis together with Neurally Mediated Orthostatic Hypotension and finally Narcolepsy. 100mg Oroxine, and Modafinil. I am happy to lie down and sleep and would have relief in never waking up. Any suggestions would be great.

Avatar n tn 5 X 2.1 X 2.2 cm with respect to sagittal, AP and transverse dimensions. The thyroid echotexture is diffusely heterogeneous. The thyroid isthmus is also prominent measuring 8 mm. Multiple nodules are present in both lobes of the thyroid. The largest nodule on the right lower pole measuring 1.7 X 0.6 X 0.7 cm and on the left mid pole 1.3 X 0.6 X 1.0 cm. Increased color flow is present.
Avatar n tn If steroids can affect your adrenals, they can most likely affect your thyroid, also. All glandular functions are somewhat interrelated. Furthermore, adrenal problems can also affect the thyroid, making it difficult to treat until the adrenal problem is resolved. Do get FT3 tested, also. This is one of those instances where it is a very important part of the puzzle.
Avatar f tn 2 rounds of fbc came back normal, was also checked for mumps and glandular fever, again came back normal few weeks ago. The right lymph node under my chin was very painful last night but now affects all down to my shoulder and down my arm, thyroid also came back normal. It's like it's affecting the bones in my body, my breast and chest is also painful. I get pressure dort of pains which the doctor doesn't think is serious?. I'm extremely worried about this now, I need answers!

Avatar f tn m pretty sure I was being over-medicated anyway)...So...If I can stimulate my thyroid to kick into gear before my Endo gets any ideas of putting me back on the Synthroid (I'm post-thyroiditis), maybe I won't need it? I'm taking kelp supplements and eat seafood regularly...(I'm so lucky I live a short distance from the ocean!)...Any other suggestions? I have a 6 week window to stimulate it naturally...What's worked for you? Thanks!
