Avatar f tn s patients with high thyroid antibodies report more symptoms than patients with low thyroid antibodies, even if their thyroid function test is normal. In other words, thyroid replacement is not enough to ameliorate symptoms of autoimmune thyroid disease. (5) (5) Ott, Johannes et al. Avatar m tn Both hyperthyroidism and anti-thyroid medication can affect the function of the liver causing increases in liver enzymes. Liver damage is more common with the anti-thyroid drug Propylthiouracil. I have gathered together this information from numerous sources and various studies...

Avatar f tn I have hypothyroidism. Bllod work was done last week and had the numbers 31.88 circled, meaning abnormal. The numbers were along side the "thyroid function Test" results. Can you please shed some light on these numbers?. They seem too high to apply to my thyroid levels.
Avatar f tn Hi. Thanks very much for the attention you've been giving my query. No, i'm not taking any thyroid medicine. What i'm taking regularly is Telmisartan amlodipine besilate 40/5 for my hypertension, one tablet a day, which i take afterr breakfast. I also take Centrum Silver, one tablet a day, after breakfast or after lunch. I don't have anxiety, hand tremors, or eye problems. I don't have insomnia either. Avatar m tn You can know if your current symptoms is from thyroid then simply look at your Free T4 and Free T3. Increased Free T3 can bring huge hyperthyroid symptoms especially increased heat, blood pressure rise, unable to sleep at night etc while increase Free T4 can bring some of the hyper symptoms, for example diarrhea, fast heart rate etc. TSH is a poor marker and its value changes during day. For example on morning its value is least and after noon its value get reduced.
Avatar f tn There are several tests for thyroid function. Most doctors use more than one test to diagnose a thyroid problem. The various components of the tests help the doctor know what the problem is. If your thyroid tests are are going down then you need to see your doctor and find out why they are going down. If they are still normal, the doctor may just monitor them. No one on the forum can accurately tell you what exactly is causing your particular test results.
4274823 tn?1388529098 t know if this is because I was taking too low a dose (up to 20 mg instead of 30 - 35 mg), if I have an absorption issue, or if my ferretin will not improve until my thyroid is treated. I understand that iron is important to thyroid function. I thought if I could boost my iron level maybe I could get my thyroid to work better. What is your experience with/understanding of the connection between ferretin/iron and your thyroid function?
Avatar f tn --This Article Recommends thyroid function and thyroid antibodies should be evaluated before the start of treatment with IFN-alpha interferon & regularly during therapy. http://www.natap.org/2001/mar/checkyourthyroid031101.htm I was never told this and mine were never checked. I know this article is old, but finally more and more doctors are being open about the thyroid damage from interferon.
Avatar f tn I highly recommend reading this article and/or printing it to discuss with your physician. This I think also applies to people with fibromyalgia, because both CFS & fibro patients have thryoid problems... usually undiagnosed and the standard blood tests do not pick this up. What I like about this article is that they point out that people who have autoimmune thyroid disease may present with ME/CFS-like symptoms.
Avatar f tn http://health.howstuffworks.com/human-body/systems/endocrine/understanding-thyroid-metabolism.htm So, I think you should consult your doctor about working on both of those. I think those could explain most of your symptoms, except for difficulty swallowing and breathing. Do you feel like there's a physical obstruction stopping you from swallowing and breathing properly, i.e. something is impeding the passage of air or food?
Avatar n tn I recently visited my doctor, had lab work for thyroid disoder. Today my doctor wrote , "Your TSH leve is a sort of reverse mirror of thyroid function.
