Avatar n tn I had a thyroid lobectomy 20 days ago. Can I start practicing Yoga? What yoga poses shouldn't i do after thyroid surgery ?
Avatar n tn After finding the right medication and getting my thyroid levels under control, I still have terrible symtoms of fatigues, chest pain, body aches, I'm shaky, my joints swell in the morning and the lower part of my legs and feet hurt when I work out. I want to know if having hashimots disease can also cause you to have lups?
649848 tn?1534633700 Well, Ranaesheart suggested the other day that I do a post about yoga, since I suggest it whenever someone new comes into the community, so I'm going to give it a shot. I must confess, I am definitely a novice with yoga myself, but I learn more as I go along. I know there are several different kinds of yoga, ranging from what I do, which is slow and deliberate to another type that is very physical. Each kind of yoga has its own name and no, I don't know them all.
Avatar m tn Where the antibodies attack the thyroid gland and progressively destroy the ability of the thyroid gland to produce hormone. The ONLY known way to counteract that is to replace the lost hormone capacity with supplemental hormone. There are NO known natural herbs or treatments that have thyroid hormone in them. NONE. So I'm having difficulties believing that yoga could possibly cure the immune system's reaction that produces antibodies. But that is just my opinion.
Avatar m tn My wife who is 58years old, medium built, is suffering from - pain in the outer thigh (right leg); upper left arm and burning sensation and pain in the buttocks area. She is not taking any medicines for this. She practiced yoga but of little help. Any suggestions/ advise please.
Avatar n tn Hi folks, So glad to see I'm not alone, and don't have some rare problem no one else experiences! I too have had ringing in the ears for over 5 years. It's constant, but not alarmingly loud. I've lost my high end hearing, and my left ear is worse than my right. I was also diagnosed with hypothyroid (around 5+) about a year and a half ago. My intuition is strongly telling me that the two are related. I went to an ENT, and she took blood, did an MRI, various hearing tests.
Avatar n tn i have swelling in my eye lids, when i look down one eye lid lags and looks partially closed,in the mornings the swelling is more, doctors say it is thyroid related and there is no medicine only steroids is the answer and they have dangerous side effect,i visited the endocronoligist he says look at your reports you dont require any thyroid treatment if i dont require any thyroid treatment then why are my eyes swelling when i look extreme up i see double vision when i look extreme left i see double
519736 tn?1253986826 I would strongly suggest that you try yoga as an exercise form. Yoga centers on concentration, breathing, stretching and relaxing; it may help your anxiety more than meds will. Will look forward to seeing the results of your blood tests. Do make sure you get TSH, Free T3 and Free T4; don't let your doctor get away with only TSH; that will keep you sick.
Avatar f tn i am on a tyroxine tablet 10mg at the moment and still feel tired and breathless .
Avatar n tn I was just recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's. They found it via my goiter and then cysts. I have extreme anxiety and it has just about driven me insane! I can't focus, I have a short fuse and I'm constantly worried or stressed. I have been on a low dose of adderall for the lack of focus but I feel like it's not addressing all of my issues. I have started doing yoga to help me focus. It also helps me sleep.

Avatar n tn I, personally, find yoga to be one of the best forms of exercise. Yoga centers around breathing, stretching and relaxation, which not only helps with weight loss, it helps reduce stress and it relieves a lot of the muscle/joint pain that often accompanies Hashimoto's/hypothyroidism. Walking is another good exercise.
Avatar f tn I do some yoga. I tend not to do an entire program but I do use some poses and occasionally pop on my prenatal yoga CD for a bit. I enjoy cat/cow and tree pose and downward facing dog and child's pose a lot. Hip rolls and torso twists. Also do some modified planks now. I really fell off of my exercise regimen after getting pregnant but I do try to at least stretch every day, do a touch of yoga, and do some leg and arm lifts and curls with light weights.
Avatar n tn I do basic yoga asana (asana means that it is less cardio more posture and stretching) since the beginning of my pregnancy. I will be 35 weeks on Tuesday and it relieve my minor pains (hips, pelvic, lower back, buttocks and thighs). It also help to have a good posture and strengthen your core muscles for birth and baby position. It is great to take that time for you to relax. Sincerely, yoga is a revelation for me.

Avatar f tn The most important thing with any form of exercise (when having FMS/CFS) is to pace yourself and not overdo it. Low-impact is the best form of therapy for us. I don't feel you should quit because it is probably beneficial to your body. Try not doing the ones that are difficult and stick with the easier movements...maybe lessen the time a bit also. Take care and be safe.
Avatar n tn It's a great addition. Yoga tends to be more mussel building and toning your body, when working out to loose weight you need a good combination of cardio and body toning. I love doing Yoga and it's very helpful to me, but if I didn't walk/run on a treadmill I wouldn't have lost any weight.
980510 tn?1282010946 Lisa, I am not sure as I was trying Pilates and yoga with my DD prior to my surgery and some of the positions can put a strain on ur neck......as Carolyn mentioned, be aware of ur neck and see if there r things u can do with out that strain. In fact, Carolyn suggested that stretching works so well for her the past few days I too am stretching, but , not in ne positions that would put strains where I can not tollerate. I am working on my legs....lol....and will slowly work my way up....
Avatar f tn Im 34+2 is it okay for me to be doing yoga ? My babies prefectly healthy and i am to, does anyone know ?
Avatar f tn Is beginner yoga safe while pregnant? Or would I have to do yoga for pregnant women?
Avatar m tn I'm a 50 year old yoga teacher and flight attendant and am due to have a Sacrocolpopoxy on 30th Dec. I had a vaginal hysterectomy at 37. I have come to terms with my operation but am really concerned about future yoga practice. At present I suffer no symptoms teaching and practising( probably due to constant attention to core and mindful movement) however do suffer symptoms when I fly and have been on my feet all day.
