Avatar n tn I'm 49, had surgery two years ago removing scar tissue caused by a hystorectomy 13 years ago. They also removed both overies. I immediatly started having hot flashes after the surgery, and memopause kicked in without ever having symptons before the surgery. I recently noticed my heart rate is increased which is been happening now for serveral weeks. More so durning a hot flash.
Avatar n tn The Unsuspected Illness", Dr. Broda Barnes describes a female patient with hypertension and a heart rate of 110. Her hands had a slight tremor. She was underweight and nervous. Previous physicians felt she was hyperthyroid, but Broda Barnes suspected the opposite by her sub normal basal temperature. A 3rd basal metabolism test reveled subnormal metabolism.
Avatar n tn I purchased a heart rate monitor to keep track of my target heart rate and have quickly noticed my heart rate is quite fast. My resting heart rate is 84 bpm. This was taken this morning when I woke up and was still lying in bed. A few days ago when I was working out I checked my heart rate and it was pretty steady at about 155 bpm. At one point when I increased the speed and incline of the treadmill, it peaked at about 180 bpm.

996946 tn?1503249112 Why did your doctor take you off the synthroid? Rapid heart rate is often a symptom of hyperthyroidism; do you have any other symptoms of hyper, such as weight loss, diarrhea, depression, etc? You do need to have some blood tests done, but TSH is the least important. Make sure you get Free T3 and Free T4 along with TSH. FT3 and FT4 are the actual thyroid hormones and will tell you much more than TSH does. You should also have thyroid antibodies tested...
1853359 tn?1319578182 t do strenuous activity like working out at the gym till you find out more because hyperthyriod decreases your tolerance for activity and you may develop a rapid heart rate. I also have hyperthyroidism and was very scared too but my thyroid and symptoms are controlled and feel so much bettter. Cutting out anything caffeinated would be a good idea also. What are your symptoms and what prompted your md to run the tests?
Avatar m tn Hi sam2889, I'm sorry that you are going through this - it can be difficult to diagnose a thyroid problem, especially when you have symptoms but hormone levels in the normal range. I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's (last week!). My thyroid hormone numbers are within the normal range: TSH 3.44 (0.450-4.500) FT4 1.44 (0.82-1.77) FT3 3.2 (2.0-4.4) but I have had mild hypo symptoms for years including irregular periods.
Avatar m tn Your 63 year-old wife has a several year history of heart arrhythmias, rapid heart rate, heat intolerance, and weight loss with repeatedly normal thyroid results. The third-generation TSH assays that are used these days are highly sensitive, so yes, the tests would have more than likely picked up on a thyroid abnormality. Bulging eyes, an enlarged thyroid (goiter), non-pitting edema of the extremities are other clues that would make your doctor suspect Grave’s hyperthyroidism.
3187059 tn?1344885576 'm 18 years old and I have a rapid heart beat sometimes I feel shortness of breath, left pain. I don't smoke, drink or use caffeine. Avatar n tn Ditto to AR-10's comment...As a paramedic, I've only seen 2 thyroid storm patients in 22 years of doing this, and both of them were at about the 6 week mark of thyroid ablations...it is a true life-threatening emergency...It can only be controlled with large doses of beta blocking medications. (Meds that bring your heart rate and blood pressure down.
Avatar n tn So moving on I got out of it by firstly learning to relax with yoga and meditation which learned me to recognise that when I was anxious my breathing changed - shallow and rapid - and that this change alone would and did cause a very rapid pulse. I then took a hpnotherapy relaxation course and with tapes of my sessions was able every night to become exceptionally realaxed and with positive post hypnotic suggestions I became much more confidemt and relaxed.
Avatar f tn It is either connected to reflux, or to pancreatic insulinoma which cause a rapid rise and then rapid fall of blood glucose resulting in rapid heart rate. Apart from this it can even be due to anemia, low blood pressure, hypoglycemia, anxiety, hyperthyroidism etc. Please consult your PCP for primary examination (blood sugar, thyroid levels, hemoglobin, BP monitoring etc) followed by proper referral. Take care!
3149845 tn?1506627771 With hyper, common symptoms are rapid weight loss, diarrhea, fatigue, rapid heart rate (tachycardia), palpitations, nervousness, anxiety (can also be seen with hypo), irritability, sweating/sensitive to heat, thinning skin, fine brittle hair. Common symptoms of hypo are constipation, weight gain/inability to lose, fatigue (note that shows up on both lists), slow heart rate (bradycardia), palpitations, dry skin, hair loss, joint/muscle aches/pains, brain fog...
Avatar m tn However, I do have a lot of tachycardia (rapid heart rate) and the heart does have to work harder when digesting. And of course, if you had a rapid heart rate, you might sweat. I'm curious about your heart rate at such times. A rapid heart rate can be a symptom of a serious allergic reaction, so, particularly if it turns out that's what is causing your sweating, I think you should explore with an allergist whether or not you might be allergic to the things that make you sweat.
Avatar f tn said he has done all the test he can think of. I also sweat alot and sometimes have a rapid heart rate.I am starting to be fatigued alot and also have not had a normal period for over 1 yr. But my pap was normal. I have high cholersterol but high enough to require meds.So I need help so we can figure out what test to try next or what could possibly cause these symptoms and if they all are even related.
Avatar m tn Your symptoms (swelling, tiredness, cold hands/feet, etc) are those of being hypo... When I was still very hypo, I had rapid heart rate and my doctor had to give me a beta blocker to help control heart rate. I was on it for about 3 yrs, but I've since come off it.
Avatar f tn It was miserable, with shaking, chills, anxiety, rapid heart rate and no appetite. I lost 16 pounds in 2 months. Hopefully the beta blocker will mask some of the symptoms.
