393685 tn?1425812522 I am finally feeling better physically, but I wonder if I will ever feel "normal" again. It is like the thyroid and or hashi's changes our bodies and chemistry forever....even mentally. I still am holding out and believing for the day I wake up and walk outside and see and feel clearly....the fog has lifted some, but I am not crystal clear as I was before all of this. I often wonder if I will always have limitations now...
Avatar f tn This article reviews the relationship between thyroid function and mood, and the use of thyroid hormones in the treatment of mood disorders. The impact of gender on these issues is also discussed. ---Source--- PMID: 9670226 I am not implying that you have thyroid dysfunction, however, you may want to consider having it thoroughly checked, as the downside of this, should you indeed have undiagnosed or misdiagnosed thyroid dysfunction, is potentially a lifetime of unnecessary suffering.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have Hashimoto's and I've been taking levothyroxine or Synthroid 75mcg for several years. My most recent lab work showed my TSH at 2.64. For several months I have had a lot of mood problems really bordering on being depressed a lot. I also have been on Androgel 1.62% for low T, 2 pumps/day for several years. I'm trying to figure out if my mood issues could be related to my Thyroid and or the androgel.
2010625 tn?1329372056 I was just wondering if anyone knew if bipolar disorder and thyroid problems can be related?
Avatar m tn how many folks with this diagnosis have experienced waxing and waning mood and anxiety symptoms along with sleep disturbances that do not respond very well to the usual meds. after surgery and on levoxyl now and still having problems. do they finally go away? is there any treatment that is more effective than another?
Avatar f tn My psyc dr knows psyc stuff and the GP nows vit stuff and Thyroid, yet for Mental Illness it would be nice to have someone know both since they obviously work hand in hand for some people like me. Hope this helps some people. I am still learning.

Avatar n tn I agree with Jennifer, was he violent prior to the thyroid problem? Even though thyroid problems can affect mood, emotions, etc - abuse and violence are unacceptable. Suggest another visit to his doctor to see what other help might be available.
Avatar n tn I was admitted to a mental unit due to bad mood marriage etc only to go into a thyroid storm and then was diagnoised with Graves disease.

Avatar m tn My 19 year old was diagnosed with consistent hyperplastic nodules in his thyroid about 3 years ago, and has to have ultrasounds every year. He had a needle biopsy 3 years ago. He has just recently been diagnosed as bipolar, but I'm sure the GP hasn't done thyroid tests on him. I've been reading about the possible link between thyroid disease and bipolar.
534800 tn?1217167359 I have been living with a host of menopausal symptoms for over two years now (hot flashes, sweats, chronic insomnia, mood swings, migraines, exhaustion, you name it) and I feel the lack of sleep is severely affecting my overall mood at this point and causing great tension between myself and my family. I cannot seem to get my estrogen leveled out (try everything natural, no interest in drugs or hormones) and nothing seems to work right now.
Avatar n tn Yes I do have those weeks of ups and downs....but with the thyroid medication it isnt as extreme.
1361367 tn?1280632089 I asked my Dr. to start weening me off effexor xr. I am dealing with a thyroid condition and have put on 35 lbs. in 2 months. Has anyone gained alot of weight from effexor xr? I am taking 150 mg. He told me to take 75 mg for a week, then 37.5 for a week. Can I expect withdrawals?
Avatar m tn Have you been diagnosed with a thyroid disorder or disease? Thyroid imbalance can cause mood swings, and, of course, just not feeling 100% can put you in a bad mood real fast. Have you had any thyroid bloodwork done? If so, please post recent labs with reference range. Ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report. Did you research the endo in advance, either on the recommendation of another thyroid patient or by pre-interviewing him on the phone?
583252 tn?1289094490 Just let your husband know that you are aware of the mood swings and just want him to hug you and reassure you that you will be alright. For him not to take it personally. And most important let him know that you love him and just hang in there. It will all work out and you will be fine.
250155 tn?1485295939 i read a little bit about bipolar disorder... i don't feel that i have caracteristics of being depressed (like i don't feel sadness). but i do say that i am extrememly irritable a lot. yes, there's stress on my plate but i don't like blaming things on stress (probably b/c i don't really know what all stress can cause)! i don't want to be so irritable but it just comes over me and i can't help it.
Avatar f tn Today I tried to refill my prescription and found that Thyrolar is not available and I am unsure if it will ever be available. I have an appointment to see my internist on Monday and would like to go armed with good information. My pharmacist recommended Synthroid with Cytomel. I had been taking Thyrolar 3 for many years and was in the last year changed to Thyrolar 2. I am 60 years old, 5'1" and weigh 135.
Avatar n tn Her doctor is concerned because she said it is quite unusual for a teen to have an elevated thyroid. We are going to have a thyroid ultrasound done. The doctor also said this could be the cause of her wild mood swings. Although they are also talking about Bipolar disorder because of her symptoms and family history. How rare is hyperthyroidism in young teens, and what other symptoms would she experience? Her TSH was 2.86 and her Thyroxine total was 9.8. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I would suggest going to your General Practioner first and have some blood tests run. Example, thyroid issues can cause moodiness among other things such as vitamin and nutrition deficiency. I have all of these and Bipolar with anxiety. If your hormones are out of wack, they can cause this type of moodiness too. After your results, depending on what they show, I would find a good pscychiatrist and get evaluated. Something is obviously off and hopefully you'll get some answers soon.

Avatar n tn Feeling cold, slow pulse, low body temperature, dry skin, constipation, hair loss and thinning , depression and mood swings, tiredness, brain fog, frequent infections, and the list goes on. The thyroid controls the metabolism, and all systems can be sluggish due to thyroid insufficiency. Hope this helps, but you could soon check with a full thyroid blood panel, being FT3, FT4, TSH.
