Avatar n tn therefore, your symptoms could be more thyroid related than lupus and thyroid issues will also make you gain weight and/or prevent you from losing it.
Avatar f tn I have a great life and am managing my lupus with medication and accupuncture. Anyone ever experience a coorelation between Lupus and Dipolar II Disorder?
Avatar n tn Ihave had thyroid problems since early 70's and then developed lupus in 1993. I guess I am lucky because only have flareups now and then. Unlucky because I am allergic to steroids. My whole family thinks I am nuts now to have my thyroid removed but once you take it out the body just moves on to another site to attack. Seen it so many times before as a nurse and with my own mother. I'll just keep my thyroid huge and where I can see it. LOL! Hope this helps.

Avatar f tn I just saw my rheumotologist and he thinks I have Lupus due to a 1.5 ANA and high thyroid antibodies which he says is hashimotos. He prescribed me hydroxy chloroquine 200 MG to be taken two times a day while we wait to see how my blood work comes back. I am not sure if I should take this until I know for sure what is going on. Did anyone else have this experience?
Avatar n tn I have Sjogrens and Lupus, and take meds for the above symptoms. Try drinking Gatorade and eat bananas and see if that helps. If not, then definitely have the doc check for Lupus or MS.
Avatar n tn In the past HLA B27 was not correlated to autoimmunity but now obviously it is. I am positive for HLA B27 and have Lupus. My sister has autoimmune thyroid disorder and psoriatic arthritis. A brother has ulcerative colitis and years ago had Schizophrenia. I suspect a genetic HLA B27 connection to Lupus but as yet no one seems to have any knowledge.
Avatar f tn I have been receiving treatment for my thyroid probles since 18 years ago. Recently, I am having heavy pain in my joints, hands, ankles, arms and in all my bones. That pain is differnt from a normal pain, because is very heavy and intense. The reumatolgist sent me t the laboratory for an ANA test. The first test performed had the follwowing result: ANA, IFA Homogeneous Patter 1:80, the second one had the following: ANA, IFA Homogeneous Patter > 1:1280 abnormal.
Avatar n tn I've never heard of drug induced lupus, so you should probably give us more information, since we aren't a lupus forum.. I have no idea how thyroid med could cause lupus (I don't think it can), but I do know that some thyroid diseases and lupus are autoimmune. Once you have one auto-immune disease, the chances of getting another are much greater. We need a lot more information.. what are your current thyroid hormone levels? Please provide results, with reference ranges...
1139187 tn?1355706647 While some of the symptoms are similar, Lupus is completely different from Hashimoto's. Whereas Hashi's only attacks thyroid tissue, lupus can/does attack every organ in the body. It is not treated anywhere near the same as Hashi.
Avatar f tn I just find it so confusing that I have had such high antibodies for 10 years now and my thyroid is still working as if it wasn’t being attacked? And there’s nothing to do to treat the attack. It’s so confusing to me. Especially because I feel so crummy. I’ve devloped more autoimmune issues so I feel like I’m just waiting to get lupus or for my thyroid to be destroyed or something.
883575 tn?1240688480 I do know that you should not have a baby unless your thyroid levels are corrected and stabalized, otherwise it can affect the development of the baby. You were probably allergic to the fillers in the synthroid. Have you tried Wes-Throid? It is the natural form of thyroid hormone like Armour, but it is the most hypo-allergenic one on the market. It is a combo med with both T4 and T3.....worth a shot to ask dr if you can try it. It is miserable to live hypo. Don't give up hope.....
434278 tn?1324706225 i have been dealing with alot of the samo symptoms and you may have seen my posts first off i would also recommend seeing a chiropractor and make sure your spine is in proper aligment since you mention alot of nerve type pain i would see an endocrinologist my ANA was elevated and they suspected artheritis or an auto immune AKA Hashimoto thyroiditis i choked on bacon almost died and the ENT found the goitor soo i have all the sympptoms of hypo thyroid and the first endo said your normal thyro
Avatar n tn I also have a butterfly rash across my face which comes and goes on a daily basis. This rash extends to my eyebrows and is characterised by flaky skin. I have been using oroxine for two years but when I take it seems to flair up my face and when I ease off it my scalp flairs up. The rash doesn not itch. I am in a quandry. Dont get me wrong though I am still a very handsome fella. I hope this makes sence as I am speaking Australian. Does Oroxine have long term side effects on hair growth.
Avatar f tn We r prone to auto immune disorders and lupus is auto immune.....this is y many drs do a reg list of testing to rule things out when we go with our list of symptoms which can fall under many diff conditions...lupus, MS, lymes....etc. I wish I knew how these things were inter related..just know there is some underlying connection.
Avatar f tn I have had many tests done and so far, lupus, Rheumatic fever have been ruled out. The only strange result was my Sed rate. please, if you have any input I would greatly and deeply appreciate it.
Avatar f tn I am feeling extremely exhaused, have nonrestorative sleep, pain and achiness in joints and muscles, moodiness, hormone fluctuations and irritability. I am 55 years of age and take lithium for bipolar disease and armour thyroid for hypothyroid. What does this extremely hight level indicate?
Avatar m tn This pain has gotten worse over these months and now it hurts to do anything, it even hurts to do nothing. My doctor has ruled out lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. I am in the process of more tests now but I don't know what to do in the mean time. I have 3 kids and a husband to take care of but I can't even take care of myself. Please help me I'm miserable.
Avatar m tn 640. He ran other tests, specifically lupus blood tests, and they came back positive. I do not know the specifics, just that some tests were ESR, dsDna, smith, and a few others. My symptoms include the hair loss, and then joint pain and fatigue that I had assumed were my thyroid issues. I've also had some strange balance issues and minor chest pain on occasion. Today I had a strange "fainting" episode. I did not faint. I did not get light headed.
Avatar m tn Hi all- I'm a 19 year old male, and I was diagnosed with Cutaneous Lupus about 12 months ago. I get major swollen lumps on my fingers, but as of now, there have been no problems internally. Lately I have been noticing that I have been ever so cold, tired, and even on Calcium Channel Blockers to help my circulation, my hands and feet are absurdly cold. I'm having another issue with a toe right now and last week the Podiatrist told me I may want to have my thyroid checked.
Avatar m tn Typically, low TSH with low thyroid hormones, T4 and T3 would indicate central hypothyroidism, in which the thyroid works fine, but there's a malfunction with the pituitary/hypothalamus axis. The exception would be if you're already on a thyroid hormone medication, then you could have low TSH with low thyroid hormones.
Avatar f tn Your high TPO, low FT4/FT3 and HIGH TSH (2.5 is NOT normal) indicates Hashimoto's Disease. Average TSH should really be a 1.1. Your doctor is using old lab standards for TSH. Your FT4/FT3 is low. This causes miscarriages and early term babies. This can also cause babies to be born with lower IQ levels. I have Hashimoto's Disease. I take a thyroid hormone to bring my TSH down, and my FT3/FT4 up.
