Common Questions and Answers about Thyroid and libido

Avatar f tn No, I think they may be too high because of the recent cystic acne and increased libido that I've been experiencing. An increased libido may sound like a blessing but it's not... I can't think about anything else and just keep falling further and further behind in my work. I really can't afford to be so distracted and the thought of cheating on my husband or crossing any lines with coworkers terrifies me.
Avatar m tn today i was at doc office my temp was 96.1, i have lost my libido. i have thyroid panel done, seems to come back normal. i have so many symptoms of thyrod its not real. i have low body temp, no libido, no energy, thinning of my eyebrows, ringing in my ears, memory lost, anxiety and depression. doc doesn't take the time to listen, its like a human mill at the office. its not normal for the libido and temp, but they dont listen. any suggestions.
Avatar m tn With correcting the thyroid, things should improve but also test testosterone levels.
Avatar f tn I lost my libido for a long time but slowly it started coming back. I think 'self esteem' had a lot to do with it on my part. I gained 16 kilograms prior to RAI so i felt like a blob :( I didnt feel sexy, I didnt feel anything to be honest. Then I decided........what you see is what you get. I sat and explained all my feelings to my partner and luckily enough, am with someone who was patient...
Avatar m tn T3 uptake only is not the best way to see how the thyroid is doing, but your is at the top. You could get free T3 and free T4 tested, but this doesnt sound like the problem. Testosterone levels can only drop from very low thyroid levels and generally resume to proper levels (for your age) with improved thyroid levels after thyroid med.. There is another forum here that might cover your issues.
Avatar f tn Birth control pills, antidepressants, and other medications can decrease the libido, and birth control pills can thin the skin in the genitals. Does your doctor think the skin is thin, or is that something you think? Have they actually examined you? Thinning vaginal tissues can cause other symptoms - do you have itching, burning, pain, bleeding? You don't mention them, so I'd wonder if it's not atrophy.
Avatar f tn I am seeing a doctor this weekend and I will be asking for my thyroid test results and I will be also checking my estrogen and progesterone levels.
Avatar f tn ve had thyroid cancer, to supress TSH. Can hyperthyroidism cause an excessive libido? I feel like a teenager and have a hard time thinking about anything else, but feel uncomfortable talking to my Endocrinologist because she's arrogant and condescending. I guess I could be having a mid-life crises, but I know that thyroid hormones are permissive for gonadotropins so I thought I would check.
Avatar m tn At first it was called postpartum alopecia and then just unexplained hair loss and prescribed a steroid solution. My thyroid was tested a few times and was always fine. However my new Dr wanted to retest. My labs came back as having TSH levels off but normal levels of T3 and T4. He referred me to internal medicine and ordered an ultrasound of my thyroid. He also said my iron was extremely low 11 (should be a minumum of 31).
Avatar n tn all the time, seldom perspire unless humidity is high. I am 55yrs old, taken Armour thyroid for 2yrs for low thyroid, was dx with skin Sarcodosis 6yrs ago, complete hystorectomy 20yrs ago. I would appreciate your opinion on my dx and symptoms.
Avatar m tn i am 38 yrs male...recently diagnosed hypothroidism..now have less libido,and erectile dysfucntion...any help plz...
Avatar m tn ve heard of many people switching from synthroid to a natural thyroid treatment such as Armour thyroid and feeling much better, i'm thinking of trying that myself? what are your thoughts? could it just be the iron deficiency?
Avatar m tn TSH is a pituitary hormone that is affected by so many variables that at best it should be considered as an indicator, to be considered along with more important indicators such as symptoms, and also the biologically active thyroid hormones, free T3 and free T4 (not the same as total T3 and total T4).
Avatar f tn Any illness, depression, medications, psychological issues, hormone levels, and low thyroid function or thyroid disease can have a direct negative affect on sex drive. Have you ever spoke with your doctor about this? If not, consider making an appointment to speak with your doctor about having your hormone levels and thyroid checked (by blood tests), to see if these have anything to do with it.
Avatar m tn Please verify the result and reference range for the Free T3; the one you have listed doesn't look like anything I've ever seen before. Your TSH is too high and your Free T4 is too low in the range. Your problem is definitely "not" psychological; you have hypothyroidism and it certainly can cause low libido, but your testosterone is on the low side, as well. Can you tested for thyroid antibodies to determine whether or not you have Hashimoto's?
Avatar n tn 2, PTH 18-23, Vit D 38, high uptake on thyroid 34.
Avatar m tn I am around 30 years old. Skinny: BMI around 18.5-19 (been always). Never used alcohol, smoked or so. Exercising moderately (like always), something like 1-4 times in a week, 0-2 times 30 mins jogging, and other times some muscle training. Diet is healthy; just avoiding junk food and excess sugar. No depression, no medications. Despite of my pretty healthy life style i still have big problems with my erections and libido. First of all my morning woods are almost non-existent.
Avatar m tn I am a 35yo male and have been suffering form severe depression and low libido so I had some testing done. I submitted a saliva neuro adrenal test by Genova labs and all my neurotransmitters were way low and the cortisol levels are as follows...9:30am=5.2 ( range 7.0-10), 2:30pm=8.3 (range 3.0-6.0), 7:30pm=13.8 (range 2.0-4.0), 12:30am=8.1 (range <1.5). So my cortisol is spiking at 7:30pm which is completely backwards. My DHEA was 285.2 (range 63-644).
Avatar m tn Dr has prescribed me Carbimazole 10mg 3x a day to begin with. I asked about the low libido and apparently my testosterone levels are fine, it is supposed to be a side effect of hyperthyroid which makes sense I spose. I really hope I don't have graves disease. My Dr hasn't really addressed my concerns so I'd like to know what you think.
Avatar f tn My husband was diagnosed as hypothyroid three months ago. He has been on levotyroxine since diagnosis, his levels are now in the low but normal range, a few weeks ago they increased his dosage. So far there hasn't been much of an improvement in his libido, and he still cannot ejaculate with me. I will say though, he masturbates most days, so the lack of libido might be specific to me? We are both in our mid thirties, and both work out frequently.
Avatar m tn and one more problem is ...im becoming lean day by day. and losing muscle mass. even my hair became dry. but my thyroid levels were normal.
215021 tn?1224882457 Before I had my kids and thyroid issues, we had a very healthy lifestyle and I feel that is slowly slipping away and its very saddening for me!! So I truly believe its related!!!
Avatar n tn The reason I ask is that thyroid disorders by themselves--both hyper-and hypofunctioning of the thyroid--often cause heart arrhythmias, and until the thyroid problem is diagnosed and correctly treated, it can be quite dangerous to add herbal or any other medications to the prescriptions your husband has been given.
