Avatar f tn I went to the Dr. the first of Novenber for Hip pain. I had heard that muscle and joint pain can come frome hypothyroid so I asked them to do more bloodwork. I was Hypothyroid according to the bloodwork so they started me on Synthroid. I had bloodwork done last week and they said it was normal and to just stay on my current dosage. I have been to 2 orthopedics since November for my hip musce and joint apin and it is no better.
Avatar n tn But still have lack of energy and exercise intolerance , Even 10 mins brisk walk cause joint and muscles pain. Is this normal in thyroid, does it ever resolve ?. Any one out here has similar issues.
640719 tn?1277140030 Hi Everyone, I know that thyroid issues can cause Joint and Muscle pain but can someone tell me why?
Avatar f tn I have hashi and joint pain, muscle ache, stiff body, frozen shoulder. You get a feeling as if joints are connected in a crude manner. When you have prolonged pains like this, our brain tries to avoid any movement that can cause pain. This kind of makes you less mobile and lethargic...
535882 tn?1396576685 i have had thyroid removed due to suspicion of cancer. currently my levels came back high or hyper. I'm having a lot of joint pain stiffness and achiness, could this also be RA ? I'm on Armour thyroid replacement med now. dose was recently reduced 3 weeks ago. I'm wondering if the achiness and joint stiffness, clicking are from that or could it be something else? thanks for info.
Avatar n tn My symptoms are basically strong joint pain in the fingers, wrists, feet, toes, and knees. The pain began in February and has continued until now. It tends to get worse toward the night. I have a very small amount of morning stiffness, not much at all--sometimes, none at all. I am under the care of a rheumatologist. Here are my results. RF = negative, Anti-CCP = negative, CRP = negative, ESR = negative. X-ray = negative for joint damage and inflammation.
Avatar f tn Started on 150 and reduced to 137, not due to have more labs til mid March and for the last few days have severe muscle aches and joint pain with upper back pain. I have fibromyalgia but this is way different. Feels like 3 cases of the flu. Has anyone had similar symptoms?
Avatar f tn I started experiencing joint pain in my right elbow about 4 months ago, and he told me it was probably tennis elbow. Well....the pain has gotten worse and now it's in both my arms! I have gone from hypo to hyper and I'm going in tomorrow to get my blood tested again. I know I'm not right because I've been hving hot flashes and fast heartbeats. I've also been struggling with weight gain and it's driving me nuts.
Avatar m tn Hello, Hyperthyroidism is an important cause of joint pain and stiffness.Did you get your thyroid evaluation recently? Joint pain and stiffness may also be found in arthritis. There are many types of arthritis, including rheumatoid and other types of inflammatory arthritis, osteoarthritis, infectious arthritis, and arthritis due to gout or pseudogout.
Avatar n tn Pain in the joints sounds as though it might be an arthritic issue unrelated to your thyroid issues or thyroid medications. Before this joint pain gets any worse it might be advisable to get a rheumatologist on the case, or at least consult another general practicioner or internist. Do you take any anti-inflammatory over the counter medications for the pain? Of course you should consult your doctor about this first.
Avatar f tn Thank you...I was finding myself addressing the adrenals.....this group is making life bearable, and not like I'm making up my symptoms, as my Doctor hinted...to quote"I've never heard of low thyroid and joint pain". made me feel like a real fool.

715375 tn?1229790843 I wake up constantly and am always in constant pain. I now have developed hypothyroidism and have a cyst on my left lobe of my thyroid and the right lobe is enlarged. My blood test have shown nothing except an very elevated Thyroid persdoxidase AB test. The ANA test was negative and my thyroid levels were low. I had my gall bladder removed almost 10 years ago now from gallbladder disease. I have had cyst on my ovaries and had 2 surgeries to have them removed. I had Surgery for TMJ.
Avatar f tn I am on methotrexate now and still have a lot of pain and a hard time walking. I am 33. Could it be my thyroid (although blood tests are normal)? Please any tips, suggestions, referrals are welcome.
Avatar n tn Joint pain is usually a symptom of being hypothyroid and not due to thyroid medication.
Avatar n tn Has anyone experienced joint pain relief from taking thyroid medication? I had an active auto immune disease that is no longer active, but still have joint pain. I am also recovering from drug and alcohol addiction and am scared to take the medication. I tried it once and felt like my heart was racing, very thirst, and very uncomfortable. It was a bad experience. My doctor told me to half the dose, but I was to scared to try it again.
Avatar f tn I did have all the thyroid test done and strangely enough from them they indicated I have HYPERthyroidism. Which I also didn't understand. She is going to check them one more time this month and if they come back off again she will refer me to endocrinologist. I do agree with you about my thyroid. It is just frustrating that so many "illnesses" have overlapping symptoms.
Avatar m tn Please post your most recent thyroid related blood tests, and their reference ranges. Some of us with muscle/joint pain find that we simply need to increase our dosage. If you have Hashimoto's (which causes thyroid inflammation), you will need to increase your medication, as the antibodies destroy healthy thyroid tissue. It's true that supplementing with magnesium can help relieve the pain; I find that adding calcium helps.
Avatar f tn If your doctor is dosing your thyroid med based on TSH, then it is very likely that you are hypothyroid and that can cause joint pain like you mention. TSH is a pituitary hormone, not a thyroid hormone, and it has only a weak correlation with the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T4 and Free T3, and has a negligible correlation with symptoms, which are the best indicator of thyroid status and are the patient's concern.
Avatar f tn No joint pain, my memory is improving, I have more energy, and the heart palpitations (and hot flashes) have all but stopped. Come to find out, rarely do western medicine Drs check for thyroid antibodies because they treat patients reactively (meaning they only treat the patient's lab values, not the symptoms).
Avatar m tn Now have severe joint pain, hands swelling, and low energy feeling fatigue all the time. Has anyone tried steroids for after care treatment or high doses of vitamins ?
Avatar f tn I have had hypothyroid for 15 yrs now and never had a joint or muscle pain one until about 3 months ago I had an overnite change in my joints and muscles.....back legs neck arms...I couldn't even brush my teeth without having to switch arms back and forth they ached so bad. I am talking flat out PAIN. The Doctor I am seeing now thinks its Fibromyalgia, but I am not so sure. Been doing some research and something that I overlooked was Thrush in my mouth.
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing all over joint pain and fatigue for over a year now. My doctor has done a lot of standard testing and says, based on my blood sugar levels I have pre diabetes. While I know from reading that this would account for the fatigue and general feeling of exhaustion I can't find anything that would explain the joint pain. Does anyone else out there have joint pain and stiffness all over the body associated with pre diabetes??? Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn T3 levels correlate with joint and muscle pain, your cell tissue needs it. Most feel best with Free T3 in the upper 3rd of the range. Even though I mentioned you cant just go by TSH, many people would feel hypo with your TSH.
