1418727 tn?1282487078 You do need to go on medication to regulate it though. Unregulated Thyroid problems will cause infertility and miscarriage. You need to get on some meds to help regulate it and then you should be able to carry a child. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn IF you were my patient, I would consult with a general internist or endocrinologist about starting you on some Synthroid medication or other brand of thyroid replacement hormone. Correcting your thyroid should be relatively easy and should just require some medication and a few blood tests to be certain that the dosage was appropriate for you. Once your thyroid is normalized, there is a decent chance that you will become pregnant. Good luck!
216278 tn?1308861082 The more that I am reading about it, the more I am wondering if I have it and is what is causing my infertility....I read on one site that it is like the single-most undetected cause of it and the most treatable... anyone?
Avatar f tn I am 32 yrs old and have two benign thyroid nodules. Dr says all tests are within the normal range but would not give me the exact levels. I experience nearly all symptoms of both hypo and hyper thyroidism, including swelling and pain around the nodules which is very visible. I have been ttc for three years and had a miscarraige at 8wks about 16 months ago. I have had three other miscarraiges when I was younger, one being a blighted ovum.
Avatar f tn No, It won't. Many women who's got thyroid disorders are taking meds and trying IVFs, that should be fine with you too. good luck.
Avatar f tn If you have insurance or can afford it, I would strongly suggest seeing a specialist, specifically a Reproductive Endocrinologist. They specialize in infertility and an run a whole lot of tests to see if there are any issues. At least having the basic tests run can give you a wealth of knowledge about your fertility. Could be something "simple" hindering your fertility or something that may take more work.
Avatar n tn clomid, 5 failed IUIs, One Cancelled IVF After the latest issue (cancelled IVF), something came back up. Way back when we started at our first clinic, they said the bloodwork had come back and showed that I was hyperthyroidism and I needed to go to my primary doctor to have it checked out. I did this and my primary doctor then came back and said I was hypothyroidism with the anti bodies for hashimotos.
1105753 tn?1374287348 After talking with another member about gluten intolerance (thanks sherri) I did some research on it. I didn't realize that the gluten intolerance is linked directly to infertility and not just thru problems it creates (like thyroid). I have not been eating gluten for about a year now (well, I do splurge some) after my DH discovered many of my problems have been linked to it (thyroid, stomach issues, acne, etc).
Avatar n tn hi All! I am new to this site and I think it is great! I could use some support! Me and my DH have been TTC for 2 yrs. Last month we saw an RE and had blood test and I had a sonohysteogrom. I have Hypthroidism. What i read online scared me! Has anyone dealt with this? Any happy endings? Thanks so Much! Take care and Baby Dust to ALL!!!
Avatar f tn i have been on thyroid medication for a year and a half. My FSH has been stable since I was 38 and I am now 42. It is around 20 and my AMH was low the one time I had it done. I think doctor's still do not know a lot about how to treat us. Sounds like you are already on thyroid meds? Get your TSH around 1 and see if that helps you conceive. This summer my TSH went up and they doubled my dosage and I feel a lot better. I have my TSH tested often now because fertility meds make it go up.
Avatar f tn Sounds like your levothyroxine should be increased. Check thyroid antibodies - TPOAb (thyroid peroxidase antibody) and TgAb (thyroglobulin antibody). High thyroid antibody levels are linked to infertility. High antibody results is diagnostic of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (autoimmune hypothyroidism). Numerous studies show 200mcg of selenium daily lowers TPOAb antibodies. Also, a vitamin B12 deficiency is a cause of infertility.
Avatar n tn Additionally, although we routinely check for thyroid dysfunction when couples are having difficulty getting pregnant, and believe it to be important to treat abnormal thyroid levels, this is only to 'fine tune'. Correcting a truly abnormal TSH with medication will render infertility treatment more effective, but will not in and of itself cure infertility. With TSH levels between 3.1-5.09 I am not sure you need to be treated.
974298 tn?1324833193 I am 25 yr old who have been trying to get pregnant over the past few years with no luck, even though I did tests(HSG, long list of hormones and thyroid test, and progesterone test) that came back fine. How will these fibroids affect my chance of having a child, and what dietary steps can I take to combat them?
Avatar n tn I have been going thru secondary infertility for 3 years and recently tested my thyroid and antibodies. My thyroiglobin antibodies tested positive both times tested, and my thyroid level was elevated as well. Can this be linked to my unexplained infertility, and what is the treatment to adjust the elevated antibodies.
Avatar n tn Hello! I have been dealing with infertility and anxiety for several years. Recently, I looked at my labwork over the last few years, and found the TSH was falling over three years, so I asked doc to retest. It came back as .012 with normal t3 and t4. Doc said retest and it came back normal (I don't know the number yet; am waiting for the report). She says now I should skip the ultrasound of the thyroid and going to the endocrinologist.
Avatar n tn has anybody tried to conceive then found out u had thyroid problems, & when you finally started taking medication and under control, did u get "pg" ?
Avatar f tn Hello, my reproductive endocrinologist recently told me that my thyroperoxidase antibody level is 452. My thyroid hormone levels are normal. I've had infertility, two very early premature births-one resulting in a loss, and three miscarriages. All my other hormonal lab tests have normal results. What does this level mean for me in regards to causes & treatment for infertility & in regards to my thyroid health? Do I have hashimoto's based on this level alone?
Avatar f tn I always saw the discharge during ovulation. Is there a connection? Both my thyroid and fertility doctor, didn't see a connection. I debating of trying IUI. Any suggestions or comments?
367100 tn?1330914725 Yes, there is an association between underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) and infertility in women. Low levels of thyroid hormone can interfere with ovulation, which impairs fertility. In addition, some of the underlying causes of hypothyroidism — such as certain autoimmune or pituitary disorders — also impair fertility. Treating hypothyroidism is an important part of any effort to correct infertility.
