460348 tn?1213452322 hey all, it has been a while since I posted but there really hasn't been alot of improvement on my behalf. Still hurt in the lower back and legs. They bumped my medicine up about 4 weeks ago but I'm gaining more weight. It is not like I sit around and eat all day and my job involves a lot of walking. Something is still not right. Still very tired and just feel yucky. Any ideas of what might be going on? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed in August as hyperthyroid. I was out of work for a neck injury and had gained a little weight, which is normal when I am out of work. My job is physically demanding with frequent heavy lifting. My endo had the i131 treatment done and put me on PTU/50mg twice a day. When my levels started to go down she reduced it to one twice a day. But the problem is I am RAPIDLY gaining weight!!
Avatar n tn Why am i gaining and not losing. Will I lose weight. Should I get my thyroid cut out I am so aggravated. And to think the doctor wanted to send me for lap band ha. I don't eat but 1000-1200 calories a day. I have read heart breaking blogs of people having the same problem can someone please show me light at the end of the tunnel.
Avatar n tn You may have problems with your thyroid which can be checked by a blood test called TSH. If you are not having regular periods and gaining weight you may also have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and should have your hormones checked for this as well and have a 2 hour glucose tolerance test with a 75 gram glucose challenge to rule out diabetes or pre-diabetes. Please go to a doctor who is willing to do this kind of assessment and testing.
894023 tn?1241467333 Sounds like you need to go get your thyroid levels checked. I gained weight just like you have and it took over a year before I finally got them to check my thyroid and by then I was so hypOthyroid, I was nearly a basket case and had gained a total of 30 pounds. Hypothyroidism will also cause the fatigue, erratic periods, etc. Do a quick search for "hypothyroidism" and check out the other symptoms.
4945970 tn?1361450429 I lost 15 pounds my first trimester. I didn't start gaining the weight I needed till 18 weeks. I was healthy and so was my baby. I just couldn't eat because when I did I was throwing up. I've only gained a total of 4 pounds I believe my OB said. And I'm 22 weeks.

199954 tn?1294944669 m going to see the thyroid doctor follow up next month the 11th. I just want to know about the gaining the weight back slowly which I do not like, does this have to do with the Euthyrox or what?
Avatar n tn ) I exhibit some but not all of the symptoms that are typically associated with being hypo and some of the symptoms i exhibit are oddly hyper-thyroid-ish. I did not lose weight when taking my thyroid medicine, as some might expect. In my case my thyroid levels are fluctuating a lot due to an autoimmune issue, so while one would assume that if there is a weight correlation between thyroid productivity, that my weight would also go up and down as my hormone levels change, but, it does not.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am hypothyroid for the past 5 years and was stable with 25 microgm of synthroid. Recently I started gaining weight(3 kgs in 2 months) without any reason and when I checked the TSH it was 12. My doc changed my dose to 88 microgram for 70 days and redo my blood work. Is that value of TSH high? Its been 2 weeks now and I don't see any changes- still gaining weight, tired, etc.. Is that expected.

Avatar f tn The Endo says a small percentage of people with Graves will gain weight instead of losing. I had a thyroid uptake scan this week and the tech told me my 6 hr result was 56%. I was supposed to start methimazole 20mg per day on Tues. after my final scan but am reluctant to do this because I don't want to gain even more weight.

Avatar f tn Hi Kim, If your levels are truly where they should be, you should not be gaining weight if you are eating correctly. Diet is the biggest factor in weight loss, and exercise helps out a lot too. I'm reading a great book by Jillian Michaels - Master Your Metabolism. I haven't completed it yet, but it seems good so far. Also, there's another book I've read which was very informative and helpful. It's named The Thyroid Diet by Mary J Shomon.
