Avatar n tn I am underweight for my age and height but have lots of problems with facial hair (way to much for a girl!) and excess body hair in general and extremely oily skin. I know that there is definitely an underlying problem with this acne and facial hair and feel that hormones must be in play. I am on birth control, but even when I was off of it I have very regular periods so I don't think that I have PCOS. I am wondering if the hypothyroidism has anything to do with it? Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn So please discuss it with your dermatologist and also get evaluated for the other causes of hair growth like endocrine disorders and polycystic ovarian disease by consulting an endocrinologist. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn First off what I have noticed mostly is the texture of my face and hair including facial whiskers. My facial hair is not the same as it was it is now very soft and is not prickly it is soft almost like a soft brush, and hair on my head grows much slower and also feels different than it did.
Avatar f tn I did not have a period for 2 years and I got a lot of facial hair. I finally went to an endocronologist and found out that I had a tumor on my ovary. It was causing my hormone levels to be wrong. I had way too much testosterone in my system. I had my ovary removed and I have had a regular period since. That was 10 years ago. I was 17. I still have the facial hair. I was told that once the hair folical is activated, it does not go away. I would have to get laser hair removal done.
955035 tn?1246539172 Additionally, I have on occasion I have noticed a strange, ammonia-like taste in my mouth/sinus that reminds me of a strong urine scent from a litter box (sorry, only way to explain it). I have had issues with facial hair since my early 20’s and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to manage. PRESCRIPTIONS: Levothyroxine – 125 mcg Lexapro – 225 mg Fenofibrate – 160mg Vitamin D – 1.25 mg (1X week) Any thoughts? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I have PCOS and I dont have acne or facial hair. My primary symptom was irregular periods. But I dont know...you should get hormone tests...i wish you didnt have to pay, come to canada. Feel better.
Avatar f tn tiredness, low libido, spots on shoulders, neck pain, arms, hips ache, depression, facial hair, water retention and weight gain, oh and I literally can look like I have just got out the bath from hoovering (sweat) I'm so worried about the outcome, worried I have a lump on my pituitary gland?
Avatar n tn Shaving is a nuisance with curly hair and sensitive skin, too, because of the tendency for the hair to become ingrown. And, as remarkable as the idea of laser treatment sounds, like a permanent solution, it's not affordable for a lot of us. So, out come the tweezers and other old fashioned methods of hair removal.
Avatar m tn How much time will it take for the hair to regrow and when will this facial puffiness go?Should I increase my levothyroxine dose?
648155 tn?1238197357 Aside from my constant itching and rashing/ which tends to lead to depigmentation, this facial hair and finally loss of hair on my head thing is driving me crazy. Trying to align if i have been doing anything differently in the past 5 months to cause the hair loss. (all hormone levels cam back "normal" as per my new internist) I think that may have been when i started taking the meds.
Avatar f tn I have been on lamictal 100mg to 150mg, and I haven't noticed any facial hair growth, although I think my hair is thinning out. When I take a shower and put cream rinse in and work it thru, I have lots of hair coming out.

489786 tn?1255692879 I had my thyroid removed in Dec. and have been taking synthroid since. My dr. added cytomel in Feb. I have gained 45 lbs, I am losing my hair ( I have lost half of my hair), but the WORST is my face and eyes are swollen!! I look in the mirror and I don't recognize myself. My doctor says my bloodwork levels are in normal range. Why am I still having these horrible symtoms?? I am leaving out the headaches, no energy and the fact that I can't focus on anything!!! Any advice for me?
Avatar f tn I have been treating with an endo because I have the symptoms of PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome). I am 28 but at about 18 I started to develop facial hair & it has gotten worse thru the years. I have never experienced any ovarian cysts and was able to conceive without trouble. Also, I have weight gain problems and difficulty losing weight.

Avatar n tn I have had memory loss, the past couple days have had lots of numbness in my hands going up my arm, and in both feet. I feel really dizzy, and can not go outside and enjoy my children because I am so tired, and my head hurts real bad. I wake from a jerking sensation sometimes during a nap or at night, this is a new symptom but has happened a couple times...I have had a raceign heart a couple times as well.

Avatar n tn I have several very small sores on my face (they started our as what looked like a very tiny pimple but when I poped them nothing came out) the feeling is around my mouth chin and lower cheek, and also around my nose. I also have a rusty like taste in my mouth. What is going on? Thank you in advance.

Avatar f tn Although you do have some classic PCOS symptoms (absence of periods, excessive facial hair, scalp hair thinning, acne, tendency to gain weight), it could be some other type of endocrine or metabolic disorder such as thyroid, pituitary or adrenal. An ultrasound may be helpful too to see if you have the cysts associated with PCOS that are in a "strand of pearls" pattern. However, I have heard of women having many symptoms of PCOS without having the ovarian cysts.
Avatar n tn Growth of facial hair depends on a lot of factors. For example, certain ethnic groups naturally have less facial hair than others such as Asian, Native American, etc. It could just be something in your ethnic background. A better gauge of sexual maturity is pubic hair. If you have reached Tanner Stage P-5 you're a normal adult male.
Avatar f tn I am an 18 year old female and have excess body and facial hair. I have hair in my toes, my lower back, my stomach, my arms and fingers, my butt, my upper lip and chin hair grow very fast, and even in my breasts. My family is not hairy and my mom and sister barely have any body or facial hair. My period is normal, but I did grow very fast and stopped growing at a young age. I do not know what I have but I want to know. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Initially it was just in my scalp hair. It has progressed since to my eyebrows, my facial hair, body hair and everywhere. Now my scalp is almost 1/3 gone and if my hair gets blown in the wind you will see my bare scalp. :( I tried having blood work for TSH and it came out 0.47 (normal range 0.5-5something?). I haven't tested my T3, T4, FT3, FT4 yet though. I've been taking Acetyl-L-Carnitine for the past four months, along with copper, but nothing has changed yet.
Avatar f tn Symptoms are severe fatigue, weightgain, hair loss, facial hair growth, neck pain, back ache, hips hurt at night, spots on shoulders, heart palps, very light painful periods xx
Avatar m tn s not even a matter of whether or not I have a lot of facial hair (I have a couple hairs here and there, but nothing like my dad and grandfather who have full blown beards), but the fact that my face legitimately looks like a young kid's. I still have that small chin/jaw, cheeks that aren't defined, etc. etc. Also, everything seems developed organ-wise, but what "comes" out is pretty clear with a little bit of white. That just doesn't seem right.
Avatar f tn by capati92, under the Blood Disorders Community and the original poster mentioned something about using 5% Minoxidil topical solution though she is a female (based on my prior medical knowledge, only 2% is recommended for women as with a higher dose,it is highly likely that they will gain unwanted facial hair and what not). And true enough, this 20 year-old girl, not much older than myself at 19-going-on-20, has that problem.
