Throwing up during transition labor

Common Questions and Answers about Throwing up during transition labor

Avatar f tn First to second stage of labor - transition is when you hit 10cm and you're going from active labor into the "pushing" phase. No. Not easy. Transition is the worst part or at least it was for me. Major temperature fluctuations - sweating to freezing and back again, didn't want anyone to touch me, yelled at my partner and my midwife and especially my mom, couldn't find a comfortable spot no matter how I moved. It was rough.
7677085 tn?1395374075 Yeah but if you're low risk, no reason you shouldn't. Throwing up during labor is totally normal. I'd rather throw up fruit and crackers than stomach acid!
Avatar n tn If you're throwing up blood you probably need to go to the hospital. You're probably dehydrated hun. I threw up everyday at least 2 times until I was 28 weeks, and was in the hospital 5 times for dehydration. Dehydration can lead to preterm labor, which is no good at 23 weeks. If you don't want to go in right away I'd call your dr and see what they say to do.
Avatar f tn s about all I wanted during labor, but afterwards, I wanted a nice big sandwich!!! lol Eating and drinking during labor is very important and it's sad that most OB's won't allow it. I'm sorry, but water or ice chips or an IV is NOT enough to keep your energy up! Labor is....well labor intensive and you need to fuel your body.
Avatar f tn Although i did end up throwing up during the first part of hard labor and contractions. Not a big deal. I think i had a chicken qasadilla. Be prepared to sit and lay alot. They wouldnt let me walk around, very annoying. My butt hurt from sitting on it for 12 hours. Once they broke my water, thats when labor intensified. So be ready, i was not. It was instant carnage, i wanted drugs so fast because i was not prepared.
Avatar n tn Im kinda scared i been throwing up blood but wen i called labor n delivery they said it was normal at 30 weeks and to take tums
Avatar f tn I have 9/days to go and lately everyday I been throwing up as soon as I ate my breakfast this morning 5 mins later it came back up
Avatar f tn I went to the er for same thing if you throw up blood and its darker it means its coming from your stomach if its red its your throat...
Avatar f tn ll be throwing up during labor.
Avatar f tn 21 hours labor, at home for the first 13 hours, almost constant perineal massage from my midwife from admission into the birthing center until crowning, delivered a perfect 9lb 22.5" baby with no tearing. Transition was the hardest part - make sure you know what to expect because that's the worst of it. Crowning and pushing was easy in comparison.
Avatar f tn My (now 1 year old) Shih Tzu still has digestive issues off & on. But today I'm wondering about something. My son was playing with her with one of her favorite squeaky toys and all of a sudden she stopped and threw up. There was no liquid it was kind of like mush. Anyway, the thing is she ate breakfast at 7 AM. So this happened 5 hours after eating. Why wasn't that food digested and long gone by then? She usually eats 7:00, 3:30, 9:30, roughly.
2013578 tn?1341812012 30 , I am trying to drink more water thankfully I have only thrown up once but I hate throwing up...this is just the first time they have been painfully uncomfortable for me normally I can move and then it stops being uncomfortable I have been having bh anywhere from 10-30 for like the last week but most of the time I didn't notice unless my hand was on my belly...
Avatar f tn Feeling sick generally happens during labor not before.. I would hold off going unless your also having regular contractions (every 5*minutes for an hour) I got sick during labor but not before with both of my previous deliveries.
Avatar f tn s beneficial for women to go), but ended up throwing everything I learned out of the window when it was time. What helped me was thinking "every contraction is one closer to my son". Viewing it as a means to an end made each contraction passed a small victory.
5752933 tn?1383533437 I called my Dr and he said I might of popped a blood vessel in my throat from throwing up, but since I'm toxemic I have a chance for my blood platelet count to drop so if it keeps happening I need to go in
Avatar f tn #4 DO go to the bathroom and empty your bowels (only if you feel the urge) in early labor. Feeling like you have to “poop” during active labor or transition is almost always the baby putting pressure on your rectum. Even if you end up passing some stool during the pushing stage, the rectal pressure you were feeling right before was NOT poop, it was the BABY and therefore you would have STILL felt intense rectal pressure even if you had emptied your bowels earlier!
Avatar f tn It could be BH contractions caused from the throwing up. Whenever I threw up I got contractions.
Avatar f tn I birth like my mother (most women tend to) so ask your mom to see what her births were like and how long labor usually lasted. I would not go to the hospital before you feel transition though.
Avatar n tn Hello, I'm a 26 year old male. I consider myself to be a moderate drinker. I work from 8 to 5 so a typical day I might have a couple glasses of wine (about 12-16 ounces) with dinner( I eat really healthy). On average, I might have a long island (for example) a few nights a week (on weekends & maybe one night a week). Today, Sunday, I had a mixed drink around 2 pm with maybe 2 ounces of Vodka with 6 ounces Orange Juice.
Avatar f tn I understand for health reasons but I'm tired of being pregnant all the throwing up can't sleep can't eat is very uncomfortable for me I didn't say I was I just said when is the best time to
1577200 tn?1331725719 Prior to 5 centimeters a woman is considered in the early stages of labor. From 5 centimeters to 7 centimeters is the beginning of active labor. From 7 centimeters to 10 centimeters a woman is in transition and near to having her baby. Many practitioners will expect you to dilate to a designated chart which defines their standard of care. So regardless of how well your labor may be going, an impatient practitioner will expect you to dilate one centimeter per hour.
7588086 tn?1400793414 ve never heard of that before but if u got medication during delivery, it could be a late reaction.
Avatar n tn I'm 34w+ pregnant with baby boy #2. I was induced my first pregnancy at exactly 40w and during my labor I wasn't allowed to eat or drink and opted out of having ice chips cause it would have been torture so I fasted. My sister Inlaw went into labor naturally and they also didn't let her eat or drink. The reasoning is "just in case an emergency C-Section" needed to happen which neither of us had to do.
