What color blood was it? I'm a nurse,.the doctors aren't really worried about it unless it looks like coffee grounds. If it's bright red it might be an ulcer...

If its like small coffee grounds in your sick then you need to call your doctor because thats old blood thats been sitting in your stomach.

Well i didnt go to the hospital because it wasnt a whole lot and it didnt continue the next day i figured it was from throwing up too much since iv been throwing up everyday and iv never thrown up so much before i will be talking to my doctor about it. Same thing happens to me, it's scary, but if it seems like alot is coming up then talk to your doctor to be sure.

Hopefully you are at the ER getting checked out, but if not, I definetly agree with everyone else that you should go to the ER! There's no telling what's going on and they could run some tests and at least know if you're okay or not. It may be something simple, but it may also be something serious. Also, you probably know but blood in your stool looks like coffee grounds, they say.

What is your doctor doing for treatment? What drugs are you taking? Are you taking iron pills for anemia? What you're saying is normal and is an active colitis flare up that requires proper medications. I am alarmed at the vomiting having blood and mucus too. You aren't throwing up anything that looks like stool or coffee grinds are you?

This is NOT normal! Coffee-ground emesis (vomit) is usually caused by bleeding into your stomach (it gets digested.) You could have an ulcer which needs attention TODAY! I have seen people bleed to death from such things. Just as scary, -if it is caused by an ulcer, it can eat its way through into your gut and give you peritonitis. Do not mess with this. Even if the bleeding has stopped for the moment, whatever caused it is still there....-At least CALL your Dr for advice.

No, if it wasn't dark kind of like coffee grounds, then it's just tearing from heaving too hard, definitely call your Dr and tell them about it though.

While a week later I was throwing up and it looked like coffee grounds. I went to the E.R. right then and they addimted me to hositpal. When I was in there I had an IV and fuilds through it and the doctor order me npo=nothing by mouth. It was that way for 2 days, and doctor also had me drink a colon prep (1 gallon of liquid) and it worked somewhat. I was released on saturday. I went in on thur. After that They said all test were normal, so doctor sent me home.

The other ones are just loose and form at the bottoms, other ones, it seems almost like powber, the best way to explain it i guess , is like coffee grounds, but slitly bigger grounds, and softer. I have these "stomach attacks" where it feels like im going to die, like i just took battery acid and its slowly eating through. i go to my knees, and feels like im going to puke my stomach up, but i just sit there and dry heave, sometimes, what looks and taste like bio comes up.

My mom always told me that if blood enters your stomach it will crudle, turn brown, & look like used coffee grounds. If it comes out looking red than its from your throat/mouth.

Ive puked a little blood before and was told as long as it isnt more than a little bit and its only once then dont stress over it. Is it possible you just threw up pizza sauce? If you are worried then call the er or L&D and adk them.

When the ulcers bleed it can cause bloody vomit...or vomit that looks like coffee grounds. They will probably do a upper GI scope. THis is where they put a little camera down your esophagus to look at it and your stomach. They may take tissue samples, but this will help them better understand what they're dealing with. THey will probably reccomend you take an acid reducer such as Nexium. You may have to stop drinking alcohol for a while until you are better. Good luck!

you will get a discharge for a few days even sometimes up to 2 weeks , that looks like a coffee grounds like britt said. dont use tampons, or have sex until the doctor told you it was ok......

He begs for food all the time and we cannot leave food out on the counter as he is (dumpster diving) here in the kitchen. I am very concerned about the throwing up. Do you think this will end eventually?

Throwing up blood is never okay, pregnant or not. I'm not sure what could cause this, but you definitely need to get in contact with your doctor and let him/her know so they can advise you, and see you if necessary. Good luck!

I agree with addysmama. Frequent vomiting can easily irritate your throat. You may need some intravenous fluids though just from not being able to keep much if anything down. Maybe some meds such as zofran or phenergan as well.
