Avatar f tn and i am currently 6 weeks lifting moderate to heavy weight. I definitely dont over do it, but i work up a good sweat. Does anyone do crossfit or lift weights?
Avatar n tn Vagal nerve reflexes are particularly sensitive in young athletic males. after the vagal response the heart can try to make up for the lost beat by throwing in a few extra ones (simply put). This is harmless despite the odd feeling. If these beats last more than the immediate period after the excercise, or if you have actual chest pain or shortness of breath, you get dizzy, or if it begins to occur without exercise let your doctor know.
Avatar n tn After lifting wieghts, my arms, neck and back have become terribly painful to stretch. Big problem? I don't know, been like this for two days, i can't even stretch my arms out right now they hurt so much. help please >.
Avatar f tn Hi! I am 13 and I am also a javelin thrower, and thus, I lift weights to become stronger. I am 1.78 metres tall (5ft 10) and weigh 70kg (154lbs) and I have 7% of body fat. So, for the last about 7 months I haven't grown a centimetre. Now that I have stoped lifting and throwing for the summer, I only do calisthenics exercises. In the last 2 weeks I have gained 2 centimetres. What is the cause of this?
Avatar m tn I was lifting weights about 6 months ago and felt a pop in my upper left back. 3 hours later i was at the emergency room with spasms so bad i could not move. It hurt even to breathe. They gave me a shot and flexerol and i took it easy for a month. I began lifting weights lightly again and the same pain happened, but not as severe. Took off another 4-5 weeks, got up to my 6th pull-up and my back started spasming again. I have a constant ache in my back between where my scapula sits and my spine.
Avatar f tn s on solids with some purées and the pouches), she will start coughing to the point of throwing up. Her nose also seems to get runny. She will also at times throw up when we initially put her to bed. She'll lay down be asleep, wake up crying and throw up. It's very stressful and concerning. She does gain weight but I can't believe this is normal. She will cough every time we feed her. She did have reflux and was taking Zantac. Is this a behavioral thing or something internally wrong?
Avatar m tn Do your mean lifting weights as in weight lifting the sport, or lifting weights as in bodybuilding, I cant think of a reason that bodybuilding should stunt your growth, but that you may just a small build, in that case you may find it hard to build your weight up, and weight lifting could stop you growing by the amount of weights that you lift over your head.
Avatar m tn I've been lifting heavy weights for over 30 years...almost as long as I had HepC. I've never read anything to indicate that lifting has any effect, one way or the other, on the liver. I love lifting weights and it's part of my daily routine. I'm SVR12 with the same amount of liver damage as you. If you have any doubts, ask your physician. Otherwise, if the rest of your body can handle it, go for it. Just ease into it and practice impeccable form to avoid injury.
Avatar m tn It sounds like you are just "doing weights"... do you go through a warm up before starting to strain? Are you doing reps or are you doing power lifting? Whatever the case you need to be careful not to overextend your workout beyond you current physical condition...build up slowly.
Avatar f tn Yoga asana which relaxes your abdomen should be attempted and after an year and after a final go from your surgeon you can attempt to jog, run and lifting of light weights and some more yoga postures, light aerobics, etc. Lifting of heavy weights and heavy workouts are a strict no for you even for long term. Take care!
Avatar m tn Chest day is the worse then leg day? An increase in pvcs on leg day would be a concerning sign, but it could be explained. On the other hand, I cant explain an increase during chest exercise.. Unfortunately aggressive treatment is the only thing really effective at reducing pvc quantity.
Avatar f tn I am 29 weeks and was running 3 miles up until a few weeks ago. Now I'm doing a squats and lunges video and it does arms as well. I was running and doing insanity before I got pregnant though.
Avatar m tn After I lift weights I get sick, during intense lifting I can feel getting sick, like a cold coming on. I have lifted weights since 18 and I am 24. This started two years ago. Also 2 years ago I was under the assumption I contracted an STD due to my genitals hurting like crazy 3 days after unprotected sex.
Avatar m tn It sounds to me like you need to moderate you exercise, i.e., lighten up a bit and see if you can build up slowly to the level your now working at and find some improvement in hearth rhythm. Weight lifting, especially "power" lifting puts a lot of stain on the heart, I understand. If you doing power lifting (the stuff that makes you red in the face) you may want to consider backing down on that a bit in favor of more repetitions.
Avatar f tn I have outlined things patients with RDs should not do because of risk to both eyes, these include martial arts and and violent contact sports, amusement type thrill rides, standing on your head. Only your retina surgeon can clear you for power lifting. Light weights and high reps are not generally harmful but heavy weights to muscle failure are a different animal.
Avatar m tn Did this just start happening, while lifting the same weights and reps as before? If yes, that may indicate something, if the irregular HB started after you went to a new lift stress, it may be adrenaline or some other stress reaction. Or, you are overdoing it. Just a guess, I don't lift weights for exercise and I my irregular HBs are continuous, permanent.
Avatar f tn I have been training with weights for 25 years, and MY ears started plugging up during/after workouts about 10 years ago and seems to be getting worse. I am 58 yr old female and it used to bother me when I used heavier weights, but lately it doesn't matter. Any ideas?
1415174 tn?1453243103 I seem to just get locked up after i get to a certain point. I am like you in that weight lifting is about all I can do now. It has helped me a lot. My trainer has saved my life. It is just that this time I seem to not be recovering from getting stiff. I can do the work out but then when I wake up it is tight again. It could be the neck but I didn't feel any injury while I was exercising or anything. My trainer think it is a muscle imbalance. He was right last time.
Avatar n tn I used to lift lots of weights in the gym and had a similar injury when I was 28. I was silly and ignored it, and kept lifting weights. I ended up having a severe herniation and had surgery in March 2007 and July 2008 at the L4/L5 level. Now, at age 34, I'm grateful that I'm relatively pain free and can sit/walk for more than 10 minutes without being in pain. I often wonder how things would have turned out if I had stopped lifting weights for a few months and let my back heal.
Avatar m tn Its possible that you could have pulled a muscle. When you say lifting i assume you mean weights, and not lifting at work? I'd reduce the amount of weight your lifting and concentrate on the amount of reps you can do. The more reps of smaller weights you can do the better. make sure to start out with a good cardio warm up, lots of stretching as this will reduce the chance of strains and pulls. Drink lots of water as hydrating is important.
Avatar m tn i have asked my trainer why this happens and he reacons that i was lifting to heavier weights, so i have lessoned the weights and i dont seem to have them much now!!!
Avatar n tn t say how heavy the weights are, but common sense would say start with light weights and work your way up gradually. If it hurts by the surgical area, STOP. You doctor should tell you what and how much activity your body can tolerate in your post-op visit and should give you some kind of written post-op directions on what you can do week by week after surgery.
Avatar n tn Went to a chiropractor on 2/22/08 - one day after feeling the neck pain and headache. After a series of tests involving rotations of the neck and applied pressure with no pain at all, he ruled out an injury to a disc or vertebrae. He said I likely incurred an exertional headache that will leave this area of my body sensitive for 7-10 days. I don't feel any pain during the day, but when bent or stooped over, I do feel increased sensitivity to higher pressure in my head.
Avatar m tn After the tug-o-war, I noticed that it almost felt like my pecs were constantly pressing on my nerves under my arm, near my armpit, causing a shooting, burning, tingling pain down my arms. The only thing that I noticed that helped it was if I stopped lifting weights. Recently, I tried to start lifting again, which I love to do and the pain is back. The lifting seems to irritate the nerve. Is there any surgery that can fix this so I continue lifting weights?
Avatar m tn I like doing upper and lower body on the same days.( Mon. Wed. and Fri.) That's my preference! You can do the same or If you want you could do upper body on Mon. Wed. and Fri. Then do lower body Tue. Thur. and Sat. First thing before doing any exercise is to warm that muscle by lifting a light weight about 10 times to bring blood to and warm that muscle! As for how much weight to lift it's important to perform the exercise correctly!! (perfect form).
